Rich farmer,(never seen a poor farmer) living on subsidies that you all pay for, living in a mansion in the countryside(so i'm told) ,driving around in a New Range Rover. If only!!!!!!.
But I have got land to ride trials bikes on when I want so won't complain.

I asked someone who had a similar problem. They put a smaller main jet in the carb and this cured the problem.

Sorry, didn't really use a good example with the Germans and the war. Perhaps should have used the Romans as an example of world domination.

I know someone who uses those freepost envelopes that come with some junk mail by putting a label over the original address (leaving the freepost code uncovered) and gets free delivery of his own mail. He told me it never fails!
Try it first by putting your own address on and see if you get it back.

One thing I think of now and then.
If Germany had won the 2nd world war and gone on and ruled the world would we be any worse off than we are now?
-
Old trials fanatic, what you lack at the trials you do are parents who observe. Can't imagine many young ones wanting to ride old bikes so you will have to go about it a different way.
I remember hearing about a pre 65 club that if short of observers they put all the riders numbers in a hat (excluding those who had allready provided an observer) and picked out enough names to man the sections. You then observe or find someone to take your place, then you get your entry fee back and don't get put in the hat at the next trial. Not sure how it worked but sounds like it might work.

Kinell, I agree that transport could be arranged privately between a number of competitors, as some allready share vehicles now without any great problems i think it could be possible to run a bigger vehicle between more riders.
I just don't think the ACU should get involved financially.

I'm all for helping riders progress in trials but getting them around europe is not a priority in my view.
It would create more problems than it is worth.
If its young riders only what would be the cut off point?17,18,19,20,21 years old etc. Why is the support just for young ones? Seems a bit of age discrimination here!
Would there be a minimum level of rider ability or can anyone have the benefits?
What if some lads are stopping to do 1 trial one weekend while others are stopping on for 2.
Where would the spare bikes and all the other stuff you fill your van with go. It would need a big transporter.
Where does everyone stay when they havn't got their van there?. More expense.
Seems to me totally unworkable in reality.
If the ACU was to a commit a lot more money to youth support than at present I would argue that it is wasted by supporting european travel.
I would rather see more money put into helping clubs buy land in Britain which would help a lot more riders!

Very good trial, sensible sections with 2 routes.
Its usually 2 laps of 18-20 sections.
Enter on the day.
Not sure about day membership but just turn up and sort it out. I don't think they will turn you away!!
Well worth the journey.

Check the rubber hose between the carb and the air box isn't kinked.
As for the filter I just put a bit of WD40 on it with some grease or filter oil round the top edge. Also check the jubilee clips are tight (all 3) and there isn't any splits in the manifold rubber.

Have you joined all the reds together and all the blacks together. I was told to do that by Birketts but its nice to see one in the flesh. I am doing mine at the moment to make it easier for fault finding. My fan at the moment cuts out when the engine is revved so am fitting a new condensor.

Slapshot, I see you work for the Met office. Is it possible for you to arrange for it to be warm on Thursday morning for the run up to Chairlift!!!

Not sure about getting rid of the last 30 or so finishers. As Highland Lassie says what about the retirements. Some riders get to thursday and call it a day. That to me is worse than coming in the last 30.
If some way of grading out the "trail riders" is needed I think it would be fairer to do it like this.
The results show how many fives a rider has during the week. If it was assessed at the end of the week to show what proportion of your score was made up of fives those 30 or so riders who had most could be not given an entry the next year. This could also be applied to the retirements who would be assessed on the percentage of 5s in their score before they retired. Riders going round and not making a valid attempt would soon become apparent.

I will have one for sale in early may thats only done 3/4 days. Going very cheap!!!

Now were wondering what the irrelevant post was!!

Make it no-stop with plenty of straight forward sections.Sure that would help.
Looks like whats missing is a good sensible clubman route alongside the main route and you would be in for a good entry every year.

Ishy, that looks more like the list I saw!
Looks like you won't be up early on Monday morning. I might just catch you up some days as I'm not too far behind (except monday)
I have to admit i'm not riding the bike on the list so that makes 32 Scorpa's.
Looks a very even spread of bikes this year with no dominant make.
Wonder whats happened to Steve Colley. Surprised that he's not on the list.
Mark T
-
Ishy, you must of got a different list to me. My list gives very different numbers on most bikes!

Its not the engine that gets addicted, its the person squirting it in because it's easier/cheaper to do that than fix the real problem that makes the engine difficult to start.
Some diesel engines do need it, the manufacturer even build a way of using it into the vehicle but trials bikes do not need it.
Beware a large application can cause serious damage to engines, especially 2 strokes. I would never use it unless in very extreme minus temeratures which we don't tend to get in the UK.

Bikes that just do club trials are often in a worse state, especially if its some of the younger end with a father who isn't that keen on maintenance!
If you treat the bike well it will stand it. My 04 pro did 2 ssdt without a problem. I did break the top hat(gear selector part) on a rock but that can happen anywhere and was fixed in 10mins.
Just make sure you put it into gear, not kick it in!!
Overheating can be a problem on any bike in Scotland but if you check the radiator before the road work and check the fan is working it shouldn't trouble you.
After the event check all bearings etc for play, repack exhaust and tidy up plastics etc and its no worse than any other bike. The type of people who do the Ssdt do tend to look after their bikes. There are exceptions though!

Sometimes I think it would be better to ask people to observe for say 2 laps then swop with another pre arranged person for the next 2 laps rather than observe the full trial.
I personally don't mind in club trials if the boards are put out on the sections and the riders observe for a bit then give the board to someone else to do a few riders. Its better than dropping sections.

Good trial. 2 laps of about 18 straight forward sections. Full no stop. had a few mini disasters as you do. Went over a red flag on easy bit on next to last section then a 3 on last spoilt things on last lap but enjoyed the trial. Saw a fair few southern riders who had travelled up.
How did you go Gasgasblue.
Mark T

Hi Gasgasblue,
It starts as a normal club trial, no individual times
see you there Mark T
