Doesn't seem to be many young one's commenting. Let us know what you think

Andy,
I totally agree with your views about Remembrance Sunday and in an ideal world it should be left as it is. But I now think it is a missed opportunity to not run events on the day.
A lot of trials are being run on the Saturday before including the Northern Experts. At the above trial I overheard a couple of lads saying it was good to have the trial on Saturday so they had Sunday spare to go practicing. I am told the local practice ground was very busy on the Sunday, I ended up working in the garden and i'm sure most others found something to do.
Surely it would of been better to have a charity trial on Remembrance Sunday with a minutes silence before the start and raise some money for a needy cause.
As Boofont says people would think more of the meaning of the day if they took part in an event run for the benefit of charity.
Perhaps the views of the Royal British Legion should be sought on the subject.

Is it time to consider changing the rule regarding trials on remembrance sunday.
Do other sports and events not run on this date or is it just motorsport?
Do shops shut?
Does everyone else not do what they want on this date?
Surely it would be better to run charity events on this date, have a minutes silence at the start at 11am and raise some money for good causes.

I thought it was a very good clubman trial. As physco says why bother with the experts when they don't come. Why not just run it as a single route clubman trial and let some other club run the "northern experts". Yeadon Guisley, Bradford or Richmond for example who are a little more central to the "northern" area may get a better entry. Perhaps this trial would be suitable as a round of the Novogar series in the future.
Seem to remember the "British Experts" disappeared a few years ago!

Seems a pity it wasn't given at least a full year to get established. I'm sure a lot of subscriptions to Trialsworld would have been bought as christmas and birthday presents if it had been given a bit longer. Dark evenings help sales of publications like this. Seems very strange to pull the plug so soon.

Is it just me or is the Ssdt website down

John, just wondered if this is the final list.
Its a pity to see Hillsboroughs Jack Wood Trial clash with Neaths St Davids british champ round which don't normally clash.

Buy your tickets sooner than later and you will get a good choice of where you sit. Tickets are posted to you.

Jam, sorry that you need this pointing out but this is the Gas Gas forum, you are talking about Sherco so guess where that should go.
Not that anyone would be interested in your comments though!

Thanks Dabster. I see now.
I personally think "no stop" is better than "stop allowed" but observers would become very scarce though.(its easier to give a 1 for stopping than a 5)
The last couple of years have been pretty quiet on the observing front. Running trials under both non stop and stop allowed rules seems to have stopped most of the moaning about observing rules that went on a few years ago.
Just because world rounds are run under a different doesn't mean its the right way. I think its them who should change rules back to what we have in Britain.
For us to move to their rules would not be good. Timekeepers may not be that hard to arrange for British champ rounds but then surely other trials would have to follow suit which would be extremely difficult to sort out.

You can't really back off the tension on the bolts. They are either tight or loose and fall out which could cause a lot of damage. If you have a heavy clutch try moving the lever along the bar so your finger operates nearer the end of the lever.
Has it got short levers rather than long ones. They don't give as much leverage.

AS IOW. I'm not sure if this is this supposed to be John Shirts view or your view or both of you?

Some beta's used to do this a few years ago. Does anyone remember what caused it? Might be a similar problem.

John, you have hit the nail on the head.
1 There are far too many rounds.
2 Often I have heard from the organisers that because its a national its supposed to be hard!!!!
3The club gets a few top names entering so put in a few sections to sort them out so spoiling the trial for the majority of riders.
4 I think some of the clubs running rounds are only doing so to make sure they get a decent entry because of the captive audience a champ round gives them.
If a trial is good enough it doesn't need to be a champ round to get a good entry (eg The Jack Wood,Dave Rowland,Bemrose). These trials have clubman routes and are very popular and would not need to be made harder to find a winner and could still run a clubman route but if they became one route only they would be spoilt. Therefore these clubs would probably not want to run a novogar round if they couldn't have a clubman route.
On another note the name of the championship is not sustainable. If the sponsor changes would it still be called the Novogar championship. Would it not be more suitable to call it the 'Novogar Traditional trials championship' or something similar.

GREASE
Its cheap, easy, stops your spoke ends rusting, you can tighten your spokes and it stops leaks.
Don't waste your time putting a tube in.
How many new vehicles have tubes in tyres.
Its like going back to crossply tyres.
If you want an easy life use grease.

With great difficulty!
Lay the wheel on a good hard surface. Heavy piece of timber or concrete floor should do the job. Take a good sharp edged bar or cold chisel and big hammer. There is just enough of the inner race of the bearing showing through the spacer/tube that is between the 2 bearings. A good sharp hit moves it but be carefull to knock out evenly. Once it gets moving I put a large socket that is big enough to take the bearing underneath the wheel to give enough space for the bearing to fall out.
You can cut small notches in the spacer tube when its out to make it easier next time.

Can't really see why you would need to adjust more than what is available on top of the carb.
You have either got the wrong cable or a lot of wear on the twistgrip.

While most people will be enjoying 24hr election news on television in early May some of us will unfortunately miss it all.
We will think about you as we cross Rannoch moor.
Its a hard life!

Don't get excited. That offer with the free gloves has finished. Bit like the january sales with the television for a tenner. Wonder how many pairs of gloves they had!
-
I can't make any sense of the clubman results either. None of the scores for any rider match what I know I dropped on many sections.
No doubt it will get sorted.
Other than the glitch with the results it was an excellent trial with 50 sections and a 7 hour time limit. (and you needed every minute)
Bit harder on the clubman route than usual. Heavy rain the night before made some of the muddy sections very difficult.
A lot of tired looking clubman at the end but well worth doing.

Fit an inline thermo. The 05 one isn't reliable and is a pig to get at. Shirty sells the necessary bits.
Are you riding the Jack Wood

It could be your mains bearings that are worn.
Any play in the bearings may affect the seals so letting air pressure from the engine to the gearbox

Telecat, I have never known anyone deliberately make a poor trial.
Its very easy to get it wrong on the day. What looked easy when laying out can be the opposite when its ridden. The sections you put in to sort out the top lads is very difficult to judge. I have got it wrong many times but I try again next time because someone has too.
There isn,t a big queue of people waiting to offer to run a trial so perhaps you could offer your valuable services next time rather than slag off clubs who provide your sport.
I thought this section of the forum was here for you to give feedback on trials. Not to air personal grievances.
Those who do nothing are the only ones who do nothing wrong. But nothing gets done!

Spot on trial. 1 lap, 40 sections around buxton.
All straightforward sections with a good 7 hour time limit so there was no racing about. No punchcards either which really speeds the job up and makes it easier for the observer (why do some nationals give you 5hrs or so, punchcards to be punched, have everyone rushing about on the roads then if you dare say the time limit was tight you get told not to hang about so much!!!)
Good routemarking and section marking.
It was so cold on the roads.
YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE Products were giving all the riders samples of their cleaning products. (washed the bikes with it that evening and it works).
Good refreshments.
Overall a good trial not to be missed.
