  1. Larry, just wondering how old that hose/airfilter unit is? Did the hose fail from age?
  2. Thought I,d post a picture of Larrys (lbhbul) handy work on repairing my brothers rear motor mount. It fits like a glove and should make it a nice tight bike again.I also had a pic of my head stay that I revamped last year, but after looking at the picture it,s too dam ugly and will get re-engineered.
  3. Very nicely done Steve!! Looks like you have put a lot of time and effort into it.

    199B Fork Legs

Never saw a toaster like that before, but it is pretty cool. Thanks for the polishing tips bondy
  5. With "history" and "Bultaco" in the heading I thought I,d post this for grins. The main man not only built some good bikes,he rode them to.

    199B Fork Legs

Those look pretty trick bondy as does the toaster! What do you polish them with?
  7. Thanks for that bondy. It looks like another good way to make a stronger one.
  8. Larry sent me a few pics of your ride there in OK and that did look like some great trials practise ground.Sounds like you guys had a nice time and some good weather. Those are some nice looking Buls you have,I think the slimlines are the best looking of all the twin shockers. That had to have been one cold night in Tennessee!

    199B Fork Legs

Can,t help you with your question, but I did want to comment on how nice those legs look in the last picture.Very nice polish job bondy!
  10. Larry,Charley and you really transformed/saved that bike. You did a nice job at saving another Bul and I like the silver frame. Bondy, thanks for the pic of the head stay.It looks strong and nicely done.I did the one on my bike before I rode it and I believe it,s strong, but not as good looking as yours.I,ll post a pic of it when I can.
  11. It does have a head stay, but it is in need of some repair before I put it on.
  12. Some say that a TY is just a better version of the MAR.I,ve only ridden one MAR and it was in need of some attention, but other than the clutch and brakes I thought it was better handling and liked the power spread better than my TY250A. OK...let the pounding begin.
  13. The rear motor mount Larry is showing is from my brothers 199A. I believe it has a history of rode real hard and put away very wet! You might say there is excessive play between the NEW swingarm bushings and the old motor mount. I,ve had some good conversations over the phone with my new good friend Larry on how to rectify this problem without buying another used and possibly worn out rear mount. He has been kind enough to offer up his machinist skills to repair it and put the motor mount bushing back to it,s correct length and I.D. This is a wonderful site that enables you to tap into the knowledge of others with different skill sets and that have been there and done that.
  14. You have done a nice job on those Sherpa T,s Larry.I had a 92 that I regret selling, but it didn,t look as nice as yours.I ,m not sure, but in the picture it looks like yours is minus the bottom frame rails and maybe has a plated finish. Is it a SM frame? I also like the truck in the first picture.I,ve been looking for one here but they,re always too rusted or they want crazy money for them. Cheers, Scott
  15. Thanks again Woody.I will look into the tubliss system, but for the type of terrain that most of my riding will be on the IRC might do.
  16. Thanks Woody.I see that you said the samething in an earlier post so I am sorry for you having to repeat it.From what I can tell by looking around at tire prices the only true tube type is the IRC.I saw one add for a Michelin tube type, clicked on it and it said they were discontinued. The other adds I saw for Michelins said they would work tubed or tubeless depending on the rim. I,m pretty sure the Dunlop 803 and Pirelli mt43 adds said tubeless only so unless I missed some (quite possible) the only true tubed type trials tire is the IRC. If that is the case it seems like the only one to trust the bead staying where it should on the TY.
  17. Looks like a nice unit Mike.Be sure to give an update on how it performs.I have been to your blog a few times and it looks like you are enjoying it down there. It,s suppose to be a high of 3 (F) here on wensday!
  18. Thanks to everyone for the replies.
  19. Just wondering what everyone is using for a rear tire on there TY250a.I,ve read that the IRC tubeless, which is what I wanted to use, will not stay on the bead very well. How about the IRC tube type?

    Bultaco 159

Nice looking bike Trum,it looks good in blue.It looks like there might be a cable zip tied on the frame tube so my guess is that it,s cable operated. It,s pretty cold here, but no snow yet so I,m going to get mine out tomorrow and ride while I can.

    78 213 Alpina

Just wanted to thank Woody for the detailed clutch set up instructions. There is a lot in there that I haven,t been doing and probably explains why I wasn,t able to get the clutch working properly on my sherpa t.I can,t wait to get out and work on it. Thanks again!
  22. Thanks for all of the shared knowledge. It helped me understand the whole moving the pegs thing.
  23. P.M. sent John.Thanks for the help.
  24. Does lowering and moving the footrest back change the steering much? I have a 1970 Ossa that I,ve lowered the pegs on a little.Just wondering if lowering them more and moving them back would help the front end not want to push or plow in a tight turn.
  25. Mick Andrews and Nigel Birkett did a test on one not too long ago in one of the classic bike magazines. That was the first time I,ve seen one and I really like the looks of it.I had a TY350 mono that I really liked, but I think the Gasser is a much better looking bike.I would wonder though if spares would be difficult to find.
