Hi guys , has anyone got any part numbers for linkage needle bearings for a 99 techno . I've just priced it up from trials and tribs and its 70 odd quid before you touch the swing arm which is another £70 . I'd like to source them for a bearing supplier and save some money . Many thanks
-
Hi guys , one for the beta gurus , will a 97 rear shock fit my 99 techno ? Many thanks

Hey dude .. Yeah probably mount farm and Nash mills to ride , plus a couple of local
Places to me that are super fun to shred .. What's mount farm like ? Had a look at the pics .. Is it just rocks and banks there ? Funny you should mention Pete tombling .. I was on the phone to him earlier regarding a full service and fork overhaul .. Seemed like a cool guy .. Where in beds are you dude ?
-
Thank you guys , great feedback ..gonna do most of the work myself but I'm not sure I wanna tackle the front forks .. Nightmare job ?

Hi guys , new to the forum , I've just bought myself a 1999 beta techno 250 , it was a bit of a barn find really , been stood for 6 years. I'm planning to give the bike a really good service and overhaul , can you guys recommend what fluids I should be using ? My local shops stocks silkolene . I'm gonna be running the bike on a 80:1 mix .
Can you guys think of anything I should do to a bike that's been sat for so long ? Brake fluid change ? Fork oil ?
Any tips and advice would be great and really appreciated. Cheers guys

Hi guys , new rider here , just got myself a beta techno 250 to learn on , was a bit of a barn find really , hadn't been run in 5 years , I picked it up Saturday morn and by lunchtime it was running . Result . Still a few bits I've gotta do to freshen it up but all in all I'm very happy .
Can anyone recommend a deent bike mechanic localish to Bedfordshire ? I'm gonna do as much as I can myself but suspension and engine internals I'd rather out source .
Well that's where I'm at at the mo guys , if anyone local to beds wants to hook up and ride that would be cool and look forward to hearing from you .

Yeah the rear shock just went forever 210 quid :-0

Hi guys , will a rear shock from a 2003 rev 3 fit my 2005 model ? Many thanks
-
Hi guys. Was out practising yesterday , I rod off a small ledge and I heard a nasty sound when I landed , stopped to investigate and found I had fluid all over my rear tyre , my rear shock had died ... Gutted .
Does anyone know any where I would get it rebuilt etc ? In from Bedfordshire and the bike is a 2005 beta rev 3.
Cheers guys.

Yeah it looks that way bud , I certainly hope so , only time will tell I guess .......
First shakedown session this weekend at nash mills . Can't wait

When you say think about the control positions , particularly the handlebars , do you mean there the position there clamped in ? Or what I'm going to do with them I.e push ,pull ,compress or de-compress , reason I ask is I've seen a lot of people with there bars right forward . ?
I've been doing full lock 180 degree turns , was using the front brake mid turn but that just seemed to mess the balance of the bike so I was just using throttle and clutch , but now you've said rear brake that makes total sence .
I quite like the sound of those practise methods you mentioned , especially riding along a camber and then turning up the hill , sounds tricky , but very necessary .. I kinda understand the slower you can do things the better it is , control , tractable etc . It's all so new to me but I'm so exited by it all .
I posted my membership application yesterday for berko mcc , I like the idea of having a local practise venue . It's got all sorts there to play on , so I will be attending next weekend

yeah grips feel lovely mate , really nice , its my first bike so im totally pumped about it . clutch feels a bit grabby when cold but is fine once it warms up ? hope thats normal . spent a bit of the afternoon learning how to balance on the spot and hoping the front wheel ... its hard

Thanks mate , I can't stress how much the eBay pics don't do it justice , such a clean bike.
-
Thanks Dom , both the beta and gas gas get very positive write ups , sherco is there or there abouts lol . 250s seem the bike to be on ...
-
well guys .... i went to view the beta today .. the seller was a really nice chap , mid 40's , a member of the berkhamsted motorcycle club . went round into the garden to find his nice bloke shed , you know the type , everything has its own litttle place or cubby hole , very clean and tidy . a good sign maybe ? Anyway , he got the bike out and it was much like the shed , immaculate . very clean , with a nice film of wd40 or dressing lube , the same thing i do to my bike after ive cleaned them . he made a point of showing me the engine ws completely cold before giving it a couple of slow kick threws and then a final start ing kick , it fired immediately and sounded very nice , smooth and quiet . no granuch y bearings or vibrations . just a nice pop pop pop comming from the exhaust . . cosmetically the bike is lovely , brand 06 new platics ,new rental bars , domino grips ,brand new michelin tyres , lots of S3 uprated parts . footpegs , resevoir covers etc etc . carbon bits and pieces . ...... its nice . recently had a full service using all putoline fluids . suspension felt plush , wheel bearings felt solid .
so far so good ..... test ride after bike was up to temp , again throttle resonse was very sharp , clutch felt amazing . and went threw the gears very smoothly . in my mind it was a clean soilid bike that i struggled to find fault with . so i made an offer and he accepted . the chap thew in a load of spares new filters plugs lubricants , decals , tyre pressure guages etc etc .
So.... now i have a bike . i have a 2005 Beta rev 3 and im over the moon i know you guys are probably thinking ive bought the first bike i went to look at but it is very nice and i really did struggle to find any kind of bad point with it . so ..
anyway . pics to follow saturday , need to join a club now and get practising , im thinking Nash mills. in hemel hempstead .
to everyone who made the effort to post with advice and information id just like to say thanks . you guys are cool , much appreciated .
jonny .

Cheers guys , I guess there is a few years difference between the 2 machines , I'm viewing the beta tomorrow night , can a you guys give me a few pointers as to what to look out for ? What ares of the bike are prone to wear etc ? I'm fully aware I might have to spend a few quid freshening things up on a old bike and I'm totally cool with that , but yeah the better example I get , the less ill have to spend ....
-
Beta is a 250 , what makes the beta easier to ride guys ?
-
Right , I'm one step closer to my first trials bike .... Wahey my cr sold this evening so I'm now ready to start the viewing process ..... Exited much lol.
So I've been scanning ebay etc and the majority of bikes seem to be miles away from me , Hundreds in fact .
So.. A lead from a local mx shop put me in contact with a local guy selling a 2001 gas gas 280 , I gave him a call and he seemed a nice guy , said the bike had new tyres , brakes , fluids , plastics , updated Sachs rear shock , new bars etc etc , only had light practise use , he's after
-
The bikes appearance is all I have to go on at the moment , judgement of quality etc , even if someone was kind enough to let me have a spin on there bike I doubt if be able to judge what feels right or not in such s short time . However I do appreciate exactly what your saying . I guess it's the same as mx , plenty of old donkeys out there just have to find the nice ones , ill be at the classic matchless trial on Sunday , if anyone's going and doesn't mind me having a look at there bike I'd really sppreciate it . Cheers guys

I might attend Dom , I'll come and say hello
