Yes, I've seen that, but there's loads of stuff in that kit that you don't need if you just want the tank, seat and rear mudguard. I suppose you'd want the side panels as well to make it look right.

Hi, has anyone tried fitting a 4 ride seat, tank & rear mudguard onto a 4rt? From pictures it looks like it would be straight forward but perhaps not cheap?
-
Since I had a quote for an imported 4rt back in early December, the exchange rate has changed from £0.71/€ to £0.78/€. This changes the delivered price from £4751 to £5219 which is getting pretty close to the UK price. A Repsol would now be £6355.

John Deere coolant is one of the best there is. My local tractor dealer was surprised how much he sold for use in high performance car, bike, & go kart engines.

The flywheel puller is the same as the Gas Gas Pro I believe.

I'm thinking of getting a new Montesa. I've read on here that you can just ride them, wash them, then ride them some more and occasionally change the oil and filter. Top build quality. Top reliability. Then I also read on here a list of various problems. They need guards to stop excess dirt getting in the air box. They need a better sump guard. Frames cracking near the foot rest hangers. The angle sensor failing. Problems with the cam chain tensioner. The side stand is rubbish. Starting issues. So are they really built that much better than other bikes?

Trials is odd isn't it. Any other type of newly released motorcycle, road or off-road, would have been given to the press to test and review before being released for sale to the public. If you google "Montesa 300 rr", other than this page, you just get nothing more worthwhile than a few Honda press releases. And to compound this, you can't just pop down to your local Honda dealer and take one for a test ride. I doubt there is anywhere in the UK offering test rides on one.

You need to search for "Vertigo Motors UK".

Are you bringing in new vans or second hand? I think as soon as you try to register them in the UK you would have to pay the vat. I'm not sure what would happen with an unregistered trials bike, but if Customs & Excise found out you had not paid the vat on either side of the channel you would be in serious trouble. This would apply to a business or an individual. Anyway, I've had a quote for a standard 4rt - £3959 + vat = £4751 delivered. And a Repsol 4rt - £4821 + vat = £5785 delivered.

Beta sell this http://www.betausa.com/content/evo-300-sport in the USA. I know it's nothing you couldn't put together yourself, but it's interesting they sell one ready done over there but apparently not in Europe.
-
Thanks for the reply. If you don't want to register the bike, can you avoid certain taxes? Even if the taxes are paid, Montesa seem to be the worst brand for over pricing in the UK by quite a margin. Vertigo prices seem almost identical both sides of the channel.

As the title really. I am struggling to find the price of a new 4rt on the continent. With the falling value of the Euro I assume they must be a fare bit cheaper over there. I've tried looking on some foreign eBay sites but I can't find any new 4rt's for sale. I live in the UK by the way.

Yes. I wrapped some old rubber transmission v belt around the threads and clamped it in a vice. Why did they make the shock like that? I set the sag at 1/3 of the suspension travel. I took a guess that the travel is 175 mm as I couldn't find the spec for that anywhere.
-
The thing is, and this is my only criticism of the bike, the rear shock adjusters are impossible to get at without partially dismantling the bike. So ideally I would like to set the damping somewhere close to optimum using other peoples experience, (this is starting to make me sound lazy) and then just get out there and ride.
