  1. I am by no means an expert rider, but I am not a complete novice either. For the last couple of years I have been practicing on a Scorpa 175 4t and am now thinking I would like something more competitive. I like 4 strokes, so I'm thinking Montesa 260, or Beta evo 250/300 4t. From what I have read, I think I would be better with the Beta than the old Montesa, but it's possible the new 260 is a different beast? If I went for a Beta, why would I pick the 250 over the 300 or the 300 over the 250?
  2. Thanks. All good reasons to buy an Airoh. But which colour is cooler? Black radiates heater better, but white reflects heat better. Would it make any difference? Star Wars, Red Dwarf. What about Blakes 7? I remember thinking it was funny seeing various bits of mx kit being worn in that. Boots, body armour etc.
  3. I'm looking for a new trials helmet. Some have no venting, some have what appears to be a minimal amount and the Airoh has huge vents. I tried Airoh on in a shop, but the shop keeper said the vents aren't that effective. I wondered what other peoples experiences are?
  4. Thanks. I've put the tubeless tyre on and used an inner tube. It's a massive improvement on the tube type tyre it replaced. I haven't used a rim lock, but after an hours riding yesterday the tyre hadn't slipped at all. Not much power from the little Yam engine I guess.
  5. I have a 2005 Scorpa 175. It has a Morad rear rim that from the outside has the same profile as other bikes I've seen with tubeless tyres. It doesn't have a rim lock, but it has an inner tube and tube type tyre on. Thinking that the previous owner had put a tube in to stop it leaking, I have bought a new tubeless rim tape and tubeless tyre. I was told that the rim tape locates in two grooves in the rim, but my rim doesn't have those grooves. Does this mean my rim is a tube type? Or did older rims not have the grooves? Thanks for your help.
  6. I've been wondering what a Beta Evo 300 4t with their long range seat/tank unit would be like as a trail bike/general off road play bike. Anyone know? I like the idea of the KTM Freeride, but it's an expensive option if you also want a high spec trials bike.
  7. Good question. Both front and rear rims only have holes for the valve stem, no holes for rim locks, which I find odd. How can I tell if it has a tubless rim? I'm 99% sure they are original.
  8. I have a Scorpa 175 4st. The rear wheel has a Michelin tube type tyre fitted, which from what I have read on here isn't a patch on a tubless tyre for grip. Will using a Tubliss allow me to use a Michelin tubeless tyre? On a related question, I notice most of the newer bikes have a rear rim with the spokes fixed so they don't pearce the rim, where as some older bikes, specifically 2009 and 2010 Beto Evo's, have a different arrangement where the spoke holes have to be sealed on the inside somehow. From what I hear, this can be a bit hit and miss. Would a Tubliss make this more straight forward and reliable? I ask this because I have been considering getting a second hand Evo but have discounted the older ones because of the different rear wheels. As you may have gathered from the questions, I am new to trials, although I have had many years racing and playing on motocross and enduro bikes. Thanks for any replies.
