i have a NEB clutch in my bsa trials bike and it is too sharp and agressive.
i only use 4 of the 6 spring to make it softer but it is still very sharp and hard to control. I used to lubricate the plates with light gear oil before but after half a trial the clutch starts to stick and wont free complete.
Now i run the clutch dry and it doest stick any more but it is very grabby.
Did anyone find a trick to make this clutch work for trials ?
Different plates or springs or an oil dat doesnt start to stick ?
Check that your oil delivery hole is not plugged, possibly even since new, somebody just now reported that issue on a 4-ride, & that would certainly account for an engine knock.
My 301rr has a knocking noise on low revs. Not sure what it could be but a good mechanic told me it sounds like a worn piston. Bike is a 2020 and it has been used most weekends. Bike has no vibrations and runs great, it doesnt smoke.
Anybody had to change their piston on the 301? Could their be other issues with the bike? Main bearings, big end? Or is this not something that goes wrong quickly?
I've had 250,260,300 and now 301 and its noticeable from a 250 to a 260 and again from the 300 to the 301.
I believe the same mod is done to all the 2020 bikes so should see a similar difference although the 301 rr engine has many other benefits with the extra smooth torque
Hello,
is there a big step in performance between the 300 and the 301 ?
from what i have heard the 301 is smoother and softer in low revs ?
i now have a beta 300 4t on a bosi exhaust and it has plenty of power in high revs but lacks a bit of low end grunt (used to ride a very powerful bsa B40)
I expect the cause is something to do with a 'lighter' design of rear sprocket that is 'open' between the sprocket fixings, unlike a continuous ring of metal, around all of the 4 sprocket bolts, that features on older bikes
That may well be the case here, i had one of those sprockets on my bike. My bolts were tight, i got the bolts replaced by better quality ones and locknuts when i got the bike.
