  1. I put an extra gasket in my 280.I don't think it reduced the effort required very much.It starts a lot better now tho.Having the tps set spot on by a tech that knows what he is doing makes a really big difference.
  2. This would be so great!

    2012 280I Dead

My 280 was dead a couple yrs.The problem was a bit intermittent.Turned out that one of the crankcase cover screws (behind the flywheel and stator had come loose and backed out far enough to get the head clipped off by the flywheel. The chunk of metal would get stuck on the ignition pickup and kill the ignition.Probably not your problem, but it could happen and it was really tough to find.
  4. Beth and I will be there.
  5. How are you guys flushing the rear brake?I can't find a syringe to fit anywhere.
  6. Post #13. http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/50074-ossa-tr280i-swingarm-bearings-and-bushes/?hl=%2Bswingarm+%2Bbushings#entry361103
  7. Just curious what this little eccentric does.Under the left side engine cover, held tight with a locknut.Part #20 in this diagram.Anyone know how this needs to be set properly? I haven't had a problem with the clutch.Just getting to know the bike better. 1976 model.

    Fork Oil For Ty175?

    Here ya go. http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/58154-ty175-fork-issue/
  9. I saw damage like that on a friends Ducati racebike years ago.Aluminum swingarm. He discovered the bike was wobblying on the backstraight at Mosport Raceway.Very lucky!

    Yes Or No ?

My boss calls my bike the "Irish bike" because of the clovers.Lol.Happy Ossa day!
  11. Ok,lapped the friction plates to get the stack to 9.75 from 9.88.Went together really easily. The lever pressure is VERY nice now,but the clutch still drags badly.I probably rushed it a bit bleeding the system because my fluid level was low.I'll have a couple of beers and bleed it again tomorrow.Fun tinkering! Thanks everyone.Esp canada280i
  12. Thanks for the replies.Nothing but mineral oil in it for sure.I'll have to pull it apart to check the height of the clutch plate stack.
  13. Does switching from ajp to bk master cylinder make for a significantly lighter clutch pull? My 2011 Ossa has a very stiff clutch compared to some other models.Anyone?

    Yes Or No ?

I'm going to keep my Ossa for a long time.Having the cables will be as important as being able to play with my Yamaha'a mixture screw.(well not quite i guess)

    Yes Or No ?

Haven't seen the cables for sale anywhere on the interweb lately.Anyone know of a place to buy them?Could really use them.
  16. Can't say that it made much difference at all.The biggest change to making it start easier was getting someone who really knows what they are doing with the tps and idle adjustment.
  17. Canada280i is right.Oil is not right in there.Neither is a leak of the other kind.A broken or missing fastener for the crankcase cover can cause a vacuum leak creating a lean condition with eventual piston overheating a possibility. The screws that hold the stator in place can also come loose and get knocked off by the flywheel.debris can get caught on the ignition pickup creating an intermittent no start problem. Pulling the cover and flywheel to check things out is a good idea now and then.

  19. I played with a friends 2016 Sherco 300 yesterday for a bit.It was by far the best bike i have ever been on.But way more than i could handle or need.
  20. 2011 TR280i with last winters makeover.
  21. Yes,there is a sensor for the pressure.
  22. Advances in metallurgy and the ability to produce lighter, stronger and more complex pieces has had a lot to do with what we have now.The modern crankcase is far superior to the old stuff as are the alloy materials used in our modern bikes.Aluminum fork stanchions, nikasil lined cylinders, alloy bash plates etc etc.And without modern computers, none of this would be possible. Love my Ossa tr280i,but i really like tinkering with my ty175 in all it's simplicity.
  23. Forks filled with 10w30 as per the manual.50mm spacers on top of the springs with an air gap of 125mm.Clanging noise is gone doing little wheelies.I guess they knew what they were doing in 1976!
  24. Feibings Aussie leather care.Natural ingredients.Never put anything on your leather that you wouldn't put on your own skin.
  25. Going to fill the front of my 175 with 30wt this afternoon to see what it does.I just bought it fully restored and have no idea what is in there.I will post back the results.
