  1. 140/1 for my 2011 Ossa TR280i.Had it for two yrs now.The previous owner ran 100/1.The motor is out right now and I'm pulling the cylinder this weekend.Be interesting to see what it looks like.
  2. Ziplock bags help keep fasteners and small bits organized. The Spaniards that put this together must be "rubiks cube" masters. It was really tricky getting the motor out of the frame.Gonna have to be super careful putting it back into the fresh powdercoat finish. The triple clamps and footpegs would be off if some idjit hadn't used a bit too much Loctite on em.Duh.Later...beer me!
  3. Figured out why I haven't been able to up the rear preload this summer. The threads on the shock body are an aluminum collar that is glued in place. The glue bond broke and the entire collar spun with the adjustment ring doing nothing.Took it apart, cleaned it really well and put it back with green Loctite.Good as new.
  4. It's looking a bit ratty and I want to do a couple of things to the bike to make it more suitable to me.the frame is going to get a black powdercoat, the triples are getting black anodizing and i'll change the airbox cover for the new style vented one.I'm going to try and see if I can get a 2015 sticker set for it if it will fit the 2011 plastics.Might have to get a newer seat base and bendy rear fender. While the engine is out, another base gasket is going in to make it easier to kick thru.I doubt it will effect low end power, but I might lose top end.Never use all of it anyway.
  5. Love my 2011 Ossa 280.This winter it's getting a full makeover with powdercoat frame and 2014 graphics. While the motor is out,i'm going to put a 2nd base gasket in it.I have never used the power it has and it'll be easier to kick thru with the lower compression I hope.

Anyone have any experience? Is it easier to start?
  9. Never put anything on your leathers, that you wouldn't put on your skin.(it's skin too ya know).I have used this on all my leathers for years on the advice of John Bickle (Bickle Leathers) Really good stuff! http://shop.fiebing.com/c/leather-boot-care_leather-care_aussie-leather-conditioner

  11. Clinton and his tech Matt did a great job last week in Brantford. My Ossa was running like crap and they did a great job getting things back the way they should be.I was ready to give up on it and buy something else.Sure glad i didn't! it starts 1st kick now and with the setup done on it,it is much more rideable.Even the clutch drag is better now because the idle is set properly.

    Steering Stem Service

It would be simple to remove one of the bolts that secure the cdi unit and retap it npt for a grease nipple.
  16. The rear wheel needs a new bearing. There is only a bushing and an oilseal on the other side.Anyone have this bushing out?

    Steering Stem Service

Thanks for the replies.A bead of weld did it.Dropped right out.I have a 2001 Goldwing and was able to get a drift on it when i went to tapered roller bearings.
  18. Time for new steering stem bearings. The pullers in my toolbox won't get at the tiny outer races tucked into the head of my 2011 tr280.The engineers didn't even leave enough room to get a punch in there to whack it out.Anyone?
  19. This is not the easy start kit i know.Mine is just an alkaline battery tapped into the cdi unit. What is it and how much does it cost? (should have bought a Sherco)
  20. The kit is really simple. If you can get a 9v battery connector and a spare kill button (not a switch!),you can make it yourself. Here's the diagram.
  21. This should get you started.Important tip...remember where it was,Make notes. http://www.gasgas.com/Pages/Technical/trials-suspension-tips.html

    Ossa Flywheel

If you take the flywheel off.Be sure to loctite (medium blue) the stator bolts. One of mine came loose and a peice of it was sheared off.The little chunk would occasionally get in the way of the ignition pickup and result in a no start mode.
  23. You dealer will be able to work with the part #'s from this pdf.Your parts are on page 9,and the #'s are on page 10. http://www.lewisportusa.com/manuals/ossa/ossa_manual_parts.pdf
