    Upper Shock Mount 280

Hahahahaha.I was looking all over my garage for two spacers.Oh well, time for a Heine! Canada280....where are you? Do we know each other?
  2. Almost finished my rear suspension linkage clean and lube. Are there supposed to be a pair of spacers on either side of the top shock mount? I'm sure i didn't take anything out and can't find any in the parts manual.

    Reusable Gaskets?

Did you have to do any tuning after the extra base gasket?

    Reusable Gaskets?

I should have worded that differently. What i really need to know is the size of the o-rings.I have access to anything it uses thru my work.Same with the base gasket. Some gaskets are built to be reusable made of plastic bonded to metal. My intention is to put two base gaskets in it to make it a lot easier to kick over and start. If i knew the i.d. and depth of each o-ring groove i could preorder the o-rings.

    Reusable Gaskets?

Anyone had the head and cylinder off their 280? Are the o-rings for the head and the base gaskets reusable?

    Suspension Linkage

Thanks guys.Does it matter which side it comes out?

    Suspension Linkage

The small pivot shaft right under the swingarm pivot is being stubborn.Tap it out with a drift maybe?

    Suspension Linkage

Having a tough time getting the linkage apart.Any tips from those in the know?
  10. Do not heat it with an Oxy-acetylene torch! A Butane, propane torch will work just fine.Even a heat gun will do the trick.

    Ossa 250 2014

My 2011 TR280i is really well sorted and a ton of fun.But it still takes a healthy kick to start.Would love to sell it and buy the 250.But i think i would take a big hit $$$$.

    2011 No Spark

Picked up the bike today.Starts 2nd or 3rd kick from cold (-5c) and first kick when warm. There was a chunk of metal from the head of a stator bolt (they were all tight) that was moving around inside the flywheel. When it stuck near the pickup...no spark.Good reason to blue loctite the stator bolts once a year.

It's fixed! Rob Lang called and told me that he found a lot of metal debris (no idea where it came from) stuck to the inside of the flywheel. It was disrupting the ignition pickup and.Hence,no spark.

I'm ashamed to admit that i took it to Lang's Offroad on saturday.I'll let you know the outcome.

Booo.Right back where i started. It ran great for an afternoon, but won't start again.Maybe time to take it to Brantford.
  16. Interesting.I'll have to look into the 12v system.Know nothing about it.
  17. My 2011 tr280i is an awesome bike. The only negatve thing about it is it's reluctance to start as easily as other brands are. It's a lot better with the 9v kit and the proper mapping and tuning, but it's still not as good as it could be imho. Has anyone ever entertained the idea of putting another base gasket in it to lower compression? (i know it would be a lot of work and another tuning session) The motor has power that a world class rider is capable of using.I don't fill those shoes.

Yes.Unbolt the bashplate and they are easy to pull down for cleaning.I should have taken an "after" pic.It looks like new.

I fixed it! The fuel pump connector was full of green corrosion goo.All the connectors have lots of dielectric grease in them now after a bath with contact cleaner.Bring on some more mud.

Thanks,i didn't notice the crack. The dirt is the least of my worries. There is a bunch of green corrosion from the contacts that is a worry.I'll use a soft toothbrush and contact cleaner on it.Then some dielectric grease on everything.

Haven't had much time to get into this.Yanked the ecu out tonite.I think i have some corrosion issues to take care of.There will no doubt be more like this.

Been too busy making apple crumble cheesecake and doing family stuff to look at it.I'll let ya know. Tried the kill switch at St George.Nothing.Does the ecu come off the connector by pushing it down while releasing the clip? It's really stiff. Thanks Borus.

Just has the 9v wired to the capacitor via a kill switch on the bars.Tried a new 9v too.
