  1. NJB Good quality rear shocks are available from- www.inmotiontrials.com Thanks
  2. The allen bolt ony needs to be bolted back ino the brake plate, it does not need adjusting but it should have a sprung/shake proof washer fitted also. The rear spindle nuts were never castleated but a normal nut type There are no torque settings available , just tighten up to what you feel is ok ,they have flat washers as standard but it wont hurt to fit sprung ones Hope this helps
  3. On your rear brake plate there should be a large allen headed bolt on the outside of the plate it is on the opposite side to the brake pivot cam. if it is missing you may have a hole When the correct bolt is fitted the head of it slots into an elongated hole on the inside of the swingarm inline just forward of the spindle hole see picture -
  4. I have a 1980 TL 320. After riding a couple of events with the original tiny footrests , i bodged a pair of old sherco footrests on. These took a hell of a lot of grinding to make the mount hole close enough to the frame and also the overall thickness of where the peg slots into the frame had to be grind down. The std sherco pegs are the same fitting as all other modern type genuine and after market trials footrests that you can buy- no matter where thay come from or who makes them. NOBODY makes replacement pegs to fit an SWM's standard mounting at all. You have 4 options- 1- get some custom made 2- make your existing ones bigger/better 3- make another set from another bike 'fit' 4- use the after market trials universal ones that are available (with weld on brackets)- Bad points of option 4- you will have to cut/ re-weld and paint the frame Good points- Have good footpegs the same as any modern trials bike and therefore you can fit any modern genuine or after market footpeg as they all fit the same In case you are wondering i tried option 3 and the did option 4 I now have superb pegs!

  9. One of the classic trials clubs that i ride for are primarily a pre65/67 and twinshock club But the they let riders ride modern bikes only if the rider is 40 or older Another classic club in the same area adopts the same format with the rider being 50 or older This causes no hassle and is a possible way of you boosting your entries.
  10. The ACU rules state as below- CLASS B - Machines with Twinshock rear suspension as fitted at the time of manufacture and fitted with drum brakes, not included in Class A. CLASS C - Machines with a Monoshock rear suspension and an air cooled engine. No converted mono's!! No argument!!!!!!!!

    Swm Clutch

Another tip- Don't use domino levers- use genuine Amal forged levers (not crap copies) these improve the feel and action dramatically and ths goes for the front brake also. cheers

Hi all , just to add to the above. On my 1980 320 i have tried many different setups . There are three different weightness spring types available from Rotax- soft, medium and hard. i have settled with 4 soft and 2 med springs along with the lengthened arm. This is as light as i can get without it slipping - one finger operation ,but could be lighter- but ok , if i use the 6 soft springs it will slip too much. 99% happy with it so will leave alone. it is certainly not heavy at all.
  13. Venhill make them Try www.inmotiontrials.com - My mate has just bought one from them.
  14. Hi Phil, your 320 uses the same brake shoes front and rear- these are the same shoes as fitted to 200/240 Fantics and other models of the same period using the Grimeca type hubs. I can recommend a very fast supplier of these shoes that is here in the uk. i Know that that they have these shoes in stock and offer a good service too. If you are interested then send me a message Hope this helps
  15. Hi Philthyphil Please can you tell me the length of your swm shocks - measured from centre of each eye of both ends. cm/mm if poss ! Thanks in advance. Pedronicman

  19. Couldn't agree more - as they say -the proof is in the pudding!
  20. Modern fully synthetic 2 stroke is designed for modern watercooled trials/mx bikes with a chrome liner, it can be used on some steel lined barrel twinshocks/air cooled mono's to good effect but should NEVER be run on these weaker than 50:1 mix and DEFINATELY NOT 80:1 -unless you want to blow your engine to bits! Modern fully synthetic oil is too good in an older bike- i know that sounds strange - but the oil does not get fully burnt away as the older type engines don't rev as high as a modern 2 stroke. I would recommend -fully synthetic at 50:1 OR a good branded semi synthetic at 40:1 and run old type four star or super unleaded. Don't run weaker than 50:1 unless you want serious engine trouble. i'm not the only one who will tell you that!!!!.
  21. Hi still getting used to riding a twinshock after many years competeing on modern trials/enduro/ mx bikes so we shall see. The other guy-philthyphil is in the USA. Thanks
