    Bleedin Brakes :(

Try reverse bleeding using a syringe on the bleed nipple and forcing the fluid back from the syringe to the master cylinder. Worth a try.
  2. Hi Shaun, no problem just let me know and we'll sort it out. Chris.
  3. Hi biggegg, good luck doing the bottom end. Not that difficult at all. See your in the Newcastle area, I'm in Wallsend and have a flywheel puller if you need to borrow one and also a small compressor with windy gun for getting the clutch basket off. Just let me know. Chris.
  4. Another update, it's been a while since I fitted the new primary gear and although that did partly do the trick it was still loud. So since then I've managed to get a couple of eBay bargains to help sort it out( a 290 top end and a 2nd hand complete clutch assembly). Now sounding much much better . Thanks everyone with the help and suggestions. Chris.
  5. Thanks for the replys guys, have just placed another order with splatshop, getting a new primary gear(think the clutch basket gear will be ok),also the ratchet that Zippy mentioned and some other bits and bobs. Will let you know if these improve the situation.
  6. Sorry its taken so long to get back to this topic. Yeah got it cheap (I think £300) Ive put a video on youtube so you can have a listen if you fancy hopefully this link will work as its the first time i've tried linking to a video.
  7. Hi mate, yeah found that one all ok. Think your right about a previous owner leaving a bit behind. the main oilway runs at the bottom of the casing and exits under the selector drum. It could even be after they realised the spring had gone they drained the oil from the box and the draining oil pulled the spring piece through the oilway and under the selector drum.
  8. Hi all, well I did find a bit of damage to one of the teeth on the primary drive gear. Will have to look into getting a replacement but thought as I could replace that with the engine still in the frame I rebuilt it to ensure she would run and that all the bits were there(bought as a non runner). Eventually got her running and there seems to be a fair bit of piston slap I think. Not sure what to do at the moment as dont want to invest too much in it if its going to be a money pit. Would I be better off just putting up with noise as its a bike for me to learn on and then buy a newer bike in the future or is a 13 year old bike worth spending another few hundred pounds on.
  9. Cheers for the welcome, funnily enough the first time I had a quick go on a trials bike was down at Charltons at Guisborough and the bike I bought's owner was a member down there as well. Well got the mains and seals fitted yesterday and eventually got her fired up, but its not all good news as it seems to have quiet a bit of piston slap.
  10. Thanks for the replys guys, the metal piece is definatly of the same gauge as the return spring , just suprised it could of been bent into the shape it is now(being sprung steel). Gears all look good so hopefully no no more damage has been done. Haven't heard it running but was told it had an engine rumble. Anyways it has been fun stripping it down and getting to know the bike and also giving me a good chance to check it over. As I can't see any broken springs I'm going to continue with the rebuild and get it back together today hopefully.
  11. Hi there, I've recently bought a 2000 250 knowing it needed the mains changed. Having ordered and recieved all the parts need to replace the bearings(from splatshop(great service)). I've stripped the motor to the point of replacing the bearings. whilst cleaning the old gasket off I spotted a piece of sprung metal lying under the gear selector drum. Managed to get it out but on inspection I can't for the life of me work out where its from. All of the springs that I can see on the parts manual are all present and appear to be complete, also the piece does not seem to match any of them in shape. I'm gonna try and attached a couple of photo's of the metal and where I found it in the hope one of you more experienced will be able to help me out. I'm sorry if the pics are too big or don't show up .
  12. Hi there, just like to introduce myself. I've just bought my first trials bike, partly on a whim but i,ve always fancied having a go. Anyway I got a sherco 250(2000) as a project knowing that it needed the main bearings doing(will be posting in the correct area about this job). I live in the Newcastle area and will be looking for practice areas, hoping warden law is still open but will be looking for alternatives as well.
