yes yes, I sealed both sides of the gasket and put it back into place. Working great.

So I took the reeds out and found the gasket material there very slightly crinkled (not cracked) . There was a little discolouration where it looked like gases were escaping or being sucked in. I cleaned everything and sealed it all with a tiny amount of silicone. I rode today and for the first time the bike didn't stall once. Couldn't believe it. Finally found the problem. Thanks

Brilliant Cord, I'll have a look at that area asap. I recall I had to put some tape on the Carb outlet previously as the boot was a bit loose. Maybe there is more going on there that I missed. Thanks

Just ordered a new 260 and I am already looking at bling and jewelry for her. Any advice where to look? Google hasn't been too helpful. Thanks PS. Will the standard AJP levers fit the new Braketec pumps? If is hard to tell from the photos available.

I am really torn about this decision. I love that the beta is so quiet and everyone raves about the ride. I also have a great local dealer. The Monty looks awesome (IMHO), is injected, and has a new engine that is supposed to improve the ride a lot. I do some long rides (120 km plus), way out in the wilderness (BC Canada), so reliability means a lot to me. Love to get more feedback from those of you with knowledge of either bike.

I'm trying to decide between the 2014 evo 300 4T and the new Montesa 4RT260. For you 4t owners out there, would you buy the beta again or would you go for the Montesa if you could? Thanks for your input.

Oh, I forgot; 4) Which has the least engine braking? 5) which is the most descrete so my wife won't notice it in the garage?

I am also trying to decide between these two bikes. 1) which one is quieter? 2) I know the monte is very reliable, is the beta as reliable? (I've been wrenching a lot on my current bike and I am tired of it!) 3) who makes the Beta engine? Thanks

Just met someone riding who got to look at the new 2014 bikes at a montesa demo. He said he saw Toni Bou riding there and he had a partially disguised 2015 that had 2 spark plugs. Any truth to this? Anyone else seen anything?

Just wanted to let anyone who is interested know that increasing the idle speed fixed the problem. Embarrassing to admit and a huge waste of time in retrospect(taking the carb apart ~ 15 times). Simply increasing idle speed fixed it right away. Thanks for all your suggestions.

Thanks Charlie, I'm considering a new carb just to see if that could fix the issue. Easy way to sort out the source of the problem too.. If it still happens w a new carb than the carb is unlikely the cause..

It has nothing to do with 'extreme downhills'. It will stall going down fire roads or logging roads that a typical truck could drive up. We have loads of steep riding here but it will stall on stuff you could ride a bicycle up. Thanks for any suggestions.

Wanted to give you an update. The mod did not work. Still stalling. I changed the float height so much that eventually the bike wouldn't start; still stalling. Tried moving to a 50 pilot jet; nope. Any advice? I'm frustrated. Just want to sell the bike now and get rid of this problem. Our local trials mechanic is just as baffled as me. He has same bike and same problem. Thanks

I just drilled and tapped. Worked well. had to be careful with the filings in the tank after but I cleaned it out really well. Generally, bike runs much better now. Glad I did it.
