  1. Many years ago ( 50) I was a pimply faced apprentice motor cycle mechanic in a Matchless dealership in Auckland NZ. (John Dale Ltd) We had for a period one Mechanic, Bob Gollner who was a keen trials rider and I might say a very good one too. While there Bob built a trials bile using a Villiers motor. I notice in various mags the same name being mentioned as an owner of a co building trials bikes in GB. (Cheetah) Is this the same guy? If not its a strange coincidence as "our Bob was an englishman and a nice guy into the bargain. Can anyone enlighten me, and if the same what or where is he now? Regards. good forum. Dave
  2. Hi All, I'm an old (70)motorcyclist, still riding my CX650 on a daily basis. Many years ago, about 1959 I started a Motorcycle apprenticeship with an Auckland (NZ) matchless dealership John Dale Ltd. ,by name. App. 1960 or there abouts we Had an englishman by the name of Bob Gollner who was a keen trials rider working with us as mechanic. I remember Bob built a "special" while there and used a Villiers motor to power it He was also a very good trials rider.. Reading Classic Motorcycle and your pages I note the same name frequently being mentioned as building trials bikes and owning a motorcycle co by the name of Cheetah motorcycles. Is "my Bob" the same guy. The one I knew was a very likable guy always happy. Is this a coincidense? Regards Dave fordsondave@yahoo.com
