Inmotion .. ( bultaco uk) one of this sites banner sponsers have EVERYTHING you could ever want.. and no VAT to pay for you chaps in the colonys.
-
happy that you ve sorted it.
whoa though.. poking wire through carbs is NEVER a good idea niether is squirting liquids through. blow them through with compressed air or air from an aersol (available at all plumbers merchants for about 3 quid) and actually look through the thing to check its clear.
-
good to see that they got some bikes to the finish which proves reliability
-
got to agree if the dealers close i d take it back and say there you go call me when its fixed..
clearly whoever did the PDi didnt do a great job. i know of a local dealer here who virtually strips the thing does loads of little things to get bikes perfect and literally ready to compete on before they leave his shop.
-
everyone just loves these new Escorts though. driven totally sideways especially on tarmac they are what the spectators want to see. the issue with p65 though is slightly different the bikes look essentially the same but if judging by a couple of weeks ago is a barometer, spectaor numbers are down dramatically and one of the core reasons for me is that the draw was for me seeing the superstars miller andrews lampkin etc on old bikes now the lads in lycra dont have that cache with the casual fan sure they ride very very well but for me waxed cotton trumps lycra every time
-
could have happened to anyone. good showing first time out for a new bike a top rider rode it to the top of the leader board quite impressive.
How did the three Greeves do? i saw them at the start on sunday they were in bits..
-
the spanish seem to turn out in droves for the pre65 so it isnt distance or weather that is the decider..
-
to get the short subframe cut out the piece betwen the shock mount and top rail and shorten the arms that run under the seat so that they mount just below the original petrol tank mount.
-
have a look at yorkshire classic members section there are about 5 bantam 'conversions' on there. yours appears too short and too high. the swing arm needs to be much closer to paraell with the lower frame loop and you want a wheelbase about 50 inch ish
-
some where on thses pages many moons ago i posted the settings that martin adams reccomended for his serco cubs a quick search might/ ought to find them
-
well if you have had another carb on and it ran okay with that order an exact duplicate of that and you should be sorted , though as someone has pointed out above setting up carbs can be long and drawn out but once done immensly satisfying and once done DONT mess with it.
-
some points need some clarity,, how long ago and how much use has it had since martyn adams supply he's been abroad for 5 years? what ignition does it have what gears etc etc
however the bottom line is i'd expect to pay over 600 for any square cub engine add pvl and that would be another 200 so add it up and bid what its worth to you, not what experts might say its worth. ring the seller up ask questions and if your happy with the answers make an offer i'm sure someone will..
bantams may well be the latest fashion but cubs pull hard and grip and are still relatively lightweight
-
to be fair i didnt see any highland 'tourists'. trials is a competative sport both against others but with yourself and sure many riders might find the sections above thier abilities but hey with almost 300 places up for grabs thiers room for everybody.
check out the pre65's issues they d used up the reserve list a fortnight before the start and even were offering rides at 9.15 friday morning , in factwere told that next year 6 of last weekends starters would have not been allowed to start at all.
the p65 comittee have a real issue that they are doing thier best to solve. every rider has thier part to play, the first being dont enter if you might not ride, dont enter on the off chance ,donty accept a reserve spot unless you can accept a ride less than 48hrs before the start, dont enter on an inappropriate bike, dont turn up on something you know to be a wrong un..
-
the sprocket looks like it has been 'spaced' out with the inner ring of an older sprocket. when you get a new sproket measure it up and get someone like 'sprokets unlimited to make you one up and ask for counter sunk bolt holes so that you dont have heads stiking out etc..
-
a little controversal to include the excluded bike from the p65!
-
if the ball races are shot rather than the balls nows the time to go taper roller, easy/ cheap and better!
-
oh absolutely definately certainly ditch the amc unit. plenty fof 8e complete units on ebay pay circa 100 for a complete engine and 3spd box. lots of work to do though..Simon bateman at Nametab is yer man for knowledge and ALL the villiers stuff you could ever wish for.
-
hilarys spot on.. prob one of the best days of the trial cracking sections and proper scotland. see you there!
-
use the whole rev range through running in. i do a simple session, use all the gears, stop and start it hot and cold then home and re torque it all up check fluids etc. then your ready to ride.
i 'd always make sure its warmed up properly before doing any riding.
-
looks better with the white swap the rad protector out to black and you ll have smart looking bike that ll go anywhere.
-
as most of the guys at hope have an interest in trials thier developing products for the off road motorcycle market should be no surprise. however they are amazingly sucessfull at what they do and they work flat out doing the stuff they do adding extra product would be expensive to set the machinery etc.
with the boutique stlye limited numbers of trials manfacturers out there i d suspect they ll be wanting to be OEM on at least one brand of bike with individual retail sales piggy backing on the back of that for retro firts etc.
-
just another insight.. you dont need a number plate at all to pass an mot... and you dont need a speedo either. both facts.
-
i had the opportunity to ride 'jack the lads 'cub a couple of weeks ago and its a beaut! ..
-
put the open end of the breather as high as possible to keep water etc out.. put a small air filter ( foam ) on it to be doubly sure.
plenty of thoughts of how to do a wide swing arm .. my preference is to keep the original spindle width but many like to chop it literally in half and add 20/25mm between the two lugs. one on ebay at the moment inc. sidestand and chain tensioner.

Yorkshire Classics pre unit trial today between Halifax and Bradford was also the occasion of Bill Hills 81st birthday, Bill rode as he does every weekend and pre trial shared birthday cakes and home made pasties with every rider.
Bill rode his cub in his trademark ( some might say garish others trendsetting ) yellow and red colour scheme dropping a respectable 36 over the 40 sections and was even politely applauded as he completed the final section.
its a pleasure to ride and share trials with anyone but when that rider is over 80 and still as keen as mustard ( despite todays rain and hail) then it becomes an honour.
