  1. the BTC seems to be a championship / individual trials that the countries better riders might want to ride to see how they can do against other bette riders from around the country. i dont remember its primary purpose being anything other than that, certainly i ve never being aware or seen stated thats its core aim is to prepare riders for the world championship? isnt that something for the european championship? messers dabill and brown had the previous benifit of such world championship std trials to prepare for the WTC and thus far sucess as adults has eluded them.. and everyone else. the route is clear. if you fancy your chances of hop skippity jump go south if you want to ride traditional british trials fill yer boots!
  2. last i looked that nice mr cameron was still in charge (going on what that equally nice fat bald scottish guy with a complex says he's to balme for everything north of the border)
  3. clearly in the example above, the rider scored five, twice they went backward. 5 best reflects thier attempt. clearly they could not ride the section without stopping footing and reversing. so 5 is a true reflection of that attempt at that section..
  4. i enjoy that part of Glasgow at 2 am on a thursday morning .. damn tory govt changing things for the better!
  5. heaven forbid.. can you believe it cleaning all bar one section is asking too much of potential british trials champions! i once rode a trail clean till the last section and dabbed at the start.. did i balme the organisers for making it too easy.. no i squarely blamed myself. self discpline and concentration is as much a factor in trials as balance. that folk are asking for more hard sections so they can make up the slack marks they drop is madness that trials are now more directly related to keeping the bike moving forward may actually improve bike control balance and hone concentration. any bets who' d win a wtc based on the same rules as btc.. of course not rocket science is it. the best riders always win, the poorer riders just have the best excuses.
  6. remeber he used to deliver our papers when he was a younger a lot younger i saw mart deilvering on a trials bike i think once as well at about the same time mucho pre wtc he and mart used to practice up at a quarry above kieghley i watched mesmerised as he hopped from rock to rockalongside the main road to halifax.
  7. in the same vein as i'm playing with a bantam at the moment i'll mention two places that delievry next day on the nail every time.. inmotion ( much more than just bultacos) and trialsbits. i wont mention those at the other end of the scale as after 2 weeks i m still waiting for for something thats ''on the shelf i can almost reach it from here''
  8. how many beer tokens did that relieve you of?
  9. had to check outTelecats claims.. the 1st round in 2008 was also in Scotland brown again was the winner .. he dropped 74 .. yes SEVENTY FOUR Jarvis in 4th dropped ONE HUNDRED AND FOUR!! Craig robinson was the 13th competitor he dropped 172 yes just 13 in the championship class..
  10. Much diplomacy post the first round from the published statements by riders and importers. Plaudits to the organising club and all those who travelled a LONG way to ride. When was the last time a BTC round had that many starters? That alone has to stand out as a mjor positive The 'official ' comments suggest that it was too 'easy' as the top lads dropped less than half a dozen.. have they perhaps grown complacent and expect to be able to drop 20 or 30 and finish in the top three ( how many other trials this weekend were won by riders dropping about 3.. most i would think) the lads and lasses dropping 100+ perhaps didnt think it was 'easy' one thing is for sure, if national rounds attract bigger entries yet more folk will want to ride, more riders equals more bikes and bits sold.. everyones a winner. that young guns might have to adapt and feel frutrated is one thing but as trials return to how they were for the first 80 years they become more accessable to joe public, and thus promote the sport and the countries best riders and that is surely what a national championship is all about.
  11. just as otf has said .. get someone to doit who does it regularly! its very easy to make a mistake that wrecks the forks permanently. source a sett of 35mm legs off ebay (other sales sites are available) dont forget the yolks as otf mentioned they will need replacing modding.
  12. we re going on the c90! but it gets to ride in the van for the trip to and from scotland.. should do the whole 10 days on a tank of juice!
  13. if you want to widen the arm yourself there are drawings on this forum on how to do it. if not get on ebay or get someone like paul jackson ( details on yorkshire classic website) to make one for you. be aware though that once you change the arm ( which you really should) other stuff will need adjusting ( like wheel offset, engine offset rear shock location) you may not have to change anything you may have to 'adjust' the lot!
  14. went home after two practice sections yesterday didnt sound as though he would have been able to ride
  15. does your frame have a number? if so ask an acceptable person/ group from the dvla list to give your a dating certificate.. frankly this will all be a bit involved all do able but a proper faff and soak up loads of time..

    Ty250 On Ebay

the bikes done 2138 miles and the tyres are as new..you could cut yourself on the edges thier so sharp.. i do three trials and they look used..
  17. just confirmed my bookings for the p65 and ssdt and the weather was described as bright and sunny by both hotels.. 67 is a proper trial .. no more field of 12 with only 1 of them dropping less than 50.. good luck.. and to the observers.. be consistant and take no bull.
  18. in a std vivaro/ traffic you can get one bike in length ways with about 5 inch to spare you can get three in total side by side ( maybe 4 head to toe at a push) in the double cabs you can only really get one in diagonally two you d have to have the spanners out and if you took all the wheels off every bike you might get three in.
  19. the beauty is that most clubs /championships are now no stop so you no longer need to spend time trying to master a technique like this
  20. google is your friend.. http://www.edmondson-racing.co.uk/shockservice.html http://www.jhsracing.co.uk/suspension.htm http://www.scmsuspensions.co.uk/ http://www.epmperf.com/motorcycle-shock-rebuild.htm http://www.epmperf.com/motorcycle-shock-rebuild.htm
  21. PLEASE PLEASE do not suck on the pipe I lost a friend who inhaled petrol syphononing like this it was not pleasant..
  22. like most people i ll be there for the first two days.. i dont think a route is available yet but generally follows much the same plot. camping i'd pre book at the nevis site ( they have an area specifically for bikers.. great facilities showers etc.) no need to book if you want to chance it as there is loads of space but if you want to be sure.. and great views of ben nevis and the ramblers strolling up and down all day and night
  23. i think by getting a third party to repair an oem part many importers would wash thier hands of the problem..
  24. not a parc ferme as such just a car park where most competitors leave thier cars/ vans etc bang in the centre of kinlochleven. on the site of the former aluminium works. the start is less tha 50yds away behind the tourist information centre. take either of the roads into the village and when you hit the centre your there! many riders and fans camp on the site over the weekend. Kicks off normally on the thursday with the road run friday saturday is trials and sunday most people pack up although a hardy few stay for the 6 days..
