  1. yep a bit of heat on those hubs and the bearing will literally fall out. ( 'bit' been the yorkshire euphanism for a lot!) any bearing factor will supply two or three standards of quality bearing talk to them they are decent enough guys who know there stuff. bearings 'seem' to be graded by how they react the faster they spin so thinking laterally bike bearings 'spin' relatively slowly so you should nt have to spalsh too much cash. i never have and havent had to replace a bearing that i have replaced..
  2. 500 - 1000 according to the recent bikes on eblag. its timw will come perhaps a couple of years and it ll be drawing 1500 an appreciating classic.. keep it.
  3. as an alternative why not venture up to yorkshire and dob park near otley where Yorkshire classsic's pre 65 trial is definately ON. farmer is gritting the access road if necessary sunday am. two routes and all pre 65 classes 10.30 start and all for a tenner!

    carb mod

well simply put they block one end of a casting in the carb body with resin and make a hole a little further down.. it works takes about 30 minutes all in including taking it off and putting back on bike but you have to wait 12 - 24 hrs for the resin to harden.. there used to be a thread on here about how to do it wamnd why it worked.. ps its not 100% effective..
  7. bantam/cub sem the most popular choice available cheaply and they work with decent linings especially if machined to size.
  8. well you an certainly ride a motorcycle with L plates on and under 125cc on the island IF you live on the island and have an IOM licence. you cant if you dont..
  9. cant imagine why anyone would want to enter a market that is declining where costs are increasing and every manufacturer bar 1 perhaps loses money

    2011 event

with it been the centenary getting an entry at the first attempt would be a big enough achievement. it would be difficult to manage by yourself i'd suspect that the best way would be via renting a bike from one of the importers Beta have the biggest set up but others are available. the kit you'd have to invest in would not be insignificant. it rains a lot and you'll get wet very often or it could be like summer and you could ride all day with suncream or it could snow a lot. check out the videos of the trial on you-tube and ask yourself honestly if you can amke a genuine attempt at the sections. can you ride a trials bike for 100 miles a day every day for a week against the clock, can you cross the wettest moors in europe for hours on end using nothing more than sheep tracks and often not even that. if the answer is an honest yes then fill in the paperwork and start robbing banks.. good luck ( with the trial, not robbing banks!)
  12. can you imagine an insurers reply...

    Fantic 200

well after a week in the garage the Fantic will be fettled tomorrow between Church and two remembrance parades! ( no trial means i have to go to church with mrs TS) However after having visited what seems like the whole of the world wide wonderful web i'm still short some details ( and a few quid having spent money with Bob Wright and others this week) so how what and how much in the gearbox? same again but for the clutch and what grade and gap for the pulg.. etc. Many thanks in advance.. job list for tommorow includes.. true up rear wheel 'new' rear tyre new front and rear guards new clutch / springs longer clutch arm swap rear shockers new grips new clutch lever new gear lever new footpegs new fluids/ plug new number board new exhaust seal other than that its sweet!
  14. there is work for everyone.. if you had nothing to fall back on you'd go out and find work. last year two people rang me up out of the blue asking for work this year as unemployment rockets no one has enquired after any vacancies. I paid 8k for my 40 weeks training when i started out. no cheap loans like students get make em pay full whack they might try a bit harder and have leass time on thier hands to go around on marches.
  15. age is nt the issue. take a good look at it and the owner. how much work has it done? is that borne out by its physical condition? allow for replaceing wheel bearings, tyres, plastics, plugs, filters, brake pads, oils. with that knowledge is the asking price offering you value and one that you are willing / able to pay.. for a 5 yr old bike most of the depreciation is gone so bargain hard and you wont lose much no matter how long you own it.
  16. why noy give em a ring on monday speak to john and ask if there is an issue and if there is a recall or whether he will replace if/ when it breaks.. then you'll have a full and honest answer

    2011 BETA EVO

two weeks is nothing.. 12 - 15 weeks miniumum for my new van
  18. the fantic has 360mm shocks so these are almost two inches short to start with,,
  19. super looking 'facility' the investment here must be 10's of thousands of pounds, review that against the small production quantities and either the bikes will be expensive or they will see no profits. good luck to them though the clothing looks spot on if the riding gear is half way there it could be the biggest revenue earner. in the same way that replica shirts are for football teams.
  20. the bike has to have an mot and road tax and must be road legal, horn lights etc where applicable. You must have a license to ride the bike and be at least insured to third party standard. and you must be road legal ie wearing a helmet and fit to ride ( ie not intoxicated) when you can tick all thoae boxes you are free to explore what remains of the countries byways etc and the local TRF is the place to find out where they are. if you ride away from a permitted route you must have the xpress permision of either the land owner or the land manager or the 'responsible person' riding without ALL of these is an offence punishable in the courts and may lead to the immediate confiscation of your bike and or fines and or imprisonment.
  21. sounds too lean either that or the ignition could do with some tampering.. do one at a time!!

  23. the Ilkley grand national is not only similar it runs over much of the route used by the pre war Scott. the lap of the moors has lately been reduced to about 8 niles but after 3 laps and a couple of hours you wont fancy anymore. it was famous for the bogs but again over the years they have been avoided but its still a cracking do..
  24. http://www.upbuk.co.uk/pre65.html in the interests of fiarness other suppliers are available.. but not on my favourites list!
  25. the choice boils down to amal concentric or dell ortto frankly many critsie the amal and change thier dellorttos for the scottish/ looking ta the scottish results though the amal cant be that bad if after two days of the hardest pre 65 sections you only drop 3! now that UPB and Armac have the stuff off the shelf then frankly its down to personal preference and for what and where you'll use the thing. the amal will get you in every club trial in the country the dell orrtto will give you some restrictions.. ( but not many..)
