  1. better still they all sell thier bikes the week after, some of the top lads do as well with bikes with one trial selling last year for 1400 under list..
  2. the tail pipe on my villers engined bike is so close to the tyre as it passes inside the frame that it is wearing through. My question is does the tail pipe at the exit of the silencer serve an purpose? does its length effect performance? clearly if i mod it to fit easily inside the frame i will reduce its volume which i believe will restrict performance would shortening it so that only an inch extends from the silencer have any affect on performance?
  3. In another world we now use paypal for subscriptions to our non league football clubs trust. members pay annually or monthly the commision is small but not insignificant at around 40 - 60 pence plus about 1% of each transaction ( the exact figures are on the paypal website.)
  4. altough it aint 7000' (Silsden is about 500') lampkins have been setting up these bikes for world trials at altitude for a good few years so give em a ring.. they've been known to speak english although it does have that unmistakable yorkshire slant to it.. there isn t anything they dont know about Betas..
  5. for the money and time spent i'd refurb or replace your amal. bits are easily come by as in knowledge ( my 247 cota ran a dream with new float/ slide/ jets /needle and all for 20 quid) if using another brand you've the connecting issues plus the jetting etc. if you want to mess with your bike change the brand if you want to ride the bike refurb the amal.
  6. whats wrong with 100 odd quid? sounds fair to me.. your insured if you run into anyone etc etc to be frank its a good deal.. how much did you spend on your boots??
  7. if registered from new a motorcycle must have an mot test and pass certificate after the third anniversary of it been originally registered if you wish to use it on the road. the motorcycle once it has been registered must be either 'taxed' or declared sorn. the two are not linked other than you cannot tax a vehicle unless you have a current mot test certificate.
  8. says so on thier website.. ask to be put on thier mailing list you'll be the first to know.. i have done yorks classic events at bingly even when the access road has been blocked with snow and ice if thats any pointer..
  9. i shpuld start by saying that i dont work ofr nor know anyone who works for the AA.. but look outthe window its cold and its covered in snow and most roads are impassable so any emergenct service is struggling.. even Transco are taking 3 hours to get to gas leaks that they would always get to within 30 mins. so the arrgh's might be the person who runs a vehicle with faulty controls ( fuel dial) the person who puts ul in a diesel vehicle the person who believes he can maintain some thing better than a trained and qualified person with the correct equipment. someone who blames some one who did there best to help ( remember they get a bonus for succeding) combine those 4 people in one and you have an explosive mixture that will almost certainly create an arrggh's
  10. climate change is real the planet is getting warmer.. do the actions of 8 billion people have an impact on that? well years before man stood tall the ice melted and retreated to the poles.. years before man soemthing killed virtually every living thing on the planet years before the motorcar every home had a coal fire or we burnt anything we could find to cook and keep warm all carbon fuels and yet the earth at that point got colder now ice is melting like ice cream in july and its all our fault.. and the best way to stop it is to tax the be jesus out of frequent flyers and car users.. handily forgetting to use that money raised to do anything to repair the damaged caused. in year y2k we were all destined to be killed at midnight by falling planes computers mutating and toasting expolding and guess what.. in 1969 we landed on the moon and we were all supposed to be holidaying there come y2k.. i went to brighton.. in y2k we were all supposed to be staying at home with loads of liesure time while robots did the work... bang on 3m unemployed and even the robots have been laid off in car plants.. and yet the world is dominated by the actions of people in the most deprived inhospitable enviroment on earth .. afganistan and gaza
  11. i suspect that the owners of those films ( which are avaolable in the uk on dvd) may not be so keen on thier unabridged availability on the tinternet
  12. vintage motorcycle club normally have a massive range especially of obscure stuff http://www.vmcc.net/vmccshop/scripts/transfers.asp
  13. rad or pipe work 'airlocked' so not allowing water to fully circulate so water is at different temps in the system.. fan may or may not run stat will seem to be working water may be spat out of rad cap/overflow. drain down run water through the system via a hose pipe and then fill VERY slowly measuring the amount you put in and comparing to mfr's spec.
  14. diesel has to be the cleaner of choice, petrol/ oil mix will evaporate and leave the sediment behind, diesel will take it with it.
  15. dont have oil on thething when you apply heat.. that will make flames..
  16. jump into a fantic forum where nikasilling is common, as i remember when i had mine done only two places in the uk any good with the best being in the south west..
  17. if only.. even sky admitted that the enhginneer had attitude and couldnt say what bit of elf and safety prevented him doing the job.. cant wait to get the eurosport though seaperate for my dakar fix
  18. love to be able to watch but, as sky cannot fit a dish due to the 'elf and safety' i cannot

    Fuel

no faster etc but the thing just runs easier on super unleaded.
  21. have the best of both worlds a classic ie twin shock and a pre 65 so buy the p65 and ride in both. as your such a lieghtweight you could be competative on a villers 8e or 32a powered bike give Dave a call at http://www.dcclassicmotorcycles.co.uk/4sal...alelist_all.asp the stuff he sells is usually first class ready to ride which is unusual in p65 circles.
  22. certainly yorks classic took the plunge and specifically allowed 4 spd bantams 3 or 4 years ago. Whilst most of the bantams seem withinthe spirit there are bantams out there with modern plastics and stickered up to look like modern bikes.. probably not what was in mind when the catagory was created although in fairness YCMCC have started 'enforcing' the rules and more bikes are been asked to be entered in the 'specials' class although all are welcomed to ride
  23. i had ocasion to observe a couple of modern trials this year the alan jefferies for one, and took time to read the rules and check the detail for each one. this way i did my honest best, i try to mark each rider to the same std. so if i allowed riders to slide an inch or two if climbing a slab etc they were all judged to the same std. one instance sprang to mind on a stop allowed trial of a rider hung up half way up a 6 foot water fall and with footdown this rider lifetd and replaced the foot half a dozen times whilst the bike stood virtually still as balance and position were sought before aiming for the ends. eventually they got there for a 3 which i believe reflected the skill and effort taken to get through a section that had very few scores of 3 or less

    C90

the trials reference is interesting as i tried to enter an actc event this year on one and the entry was refused as they felt it would not meet the technical regs.
  25. i'd look at the nametab ignition rather than the greeves and it should be $$ cheaper
