love the spesh rockhopper, put some bar ends on and it'll climb a lot better. move that french thing out of the way so we can see it better..
-
Without wishing to be harsh..
so thats what the banks have been throwing thier money at..
100k devlopment? i'd have spent 1500 quid on a ssecondhand beta taken some photos, photoshopped some graphics and had the result translated into mandarin for our chinese friends to copy. total cost 2k max.
whilst i believe that a market exists for a clubman bike with relaible 4t motor, linkless suapension and simple carb i cant believe that greeves have come up with this at this during a recession.
-
in long distance off road trials I have caried one of these ( in my bum bag) http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/review/review...5/rgn/4/sp//v/1
never had to use it but at 9 quid its a steal just in case ( other brands and retailers are availble)
-
ah the luxury of 'no stop ' rules FIVE!! ( in my best len goodman impersonation)
-
nice quiet 4T very impressive clubman tool. so why in these financially tight times do they spend money anodising the 2T wheels. surely there is a market for a simple reliable bike with no frills. would an extra 5-8kilo make a bike so uncompetative for 80% of club riders. my 5 yr old beta sans graphics is no worse a bike for it and i'd be a no better rider on an 09 with the upgrades..
on the same tack when will car manufacturers think.. hey do you really need alloy wheels, electric windows, metallic paint, colour coded plastics, passenger airbags, cd players, carpets front and rear, roof rails, twee little lights in the boot, passenger lights in the rear, glove box lights, complicated speedos/ trips etc. in thier base models
again the market must be there for a car that goes from a to b reliably and cheaply.. even my new base skoda octavia has far too many extras that i could live without if i saved another 1500 quid..
-
thanks for your edit 4stroke i hadn't put it very well but hopefully my edited version is a little more comprehensible.
-
edited due to me getting my R's and elbow mixed up..
banging in the exhaust may be caused by too weak a pilot mixture when the throttle is closed - or too rich a pilot mixture and an air leak in the exhaust. the reason in either case is is that the mixture has not fired in the cylinder and fired in the hot exhaust. violent explosions in the silencer during descents may be because the throttle is not closing fully. if the bike bangs when the throttle is open then the problem is ignition.

used a rack on the back of a polo and a punto. no probs fitting the things on and off in no time. needs zero storage space. stuff all fits in boot whilst your on the bike.
down sides are bike can get mucky going to trials ( but then trials aint no concours) when removed before selling from the polo noticed that the tow bar mounting pints had dented the boot floor a fair bit, but it was 10 years old by then so no probs ( wouldnt want it on a NEW car)
defo worth doing especially if you can pick one up second hand.. dont forget to get a proper lightboard with reg no. and a pair of really decent ( minimum 30mm wide) rachet straps. dont spend 5 quid on straps to hold a 3 grand bike on!
-
well a manual of sorts is available on /via bob wrights site i think ( 4 pages) whip the front pipe off and fill it with diesel or unleaded and let it stand for as long as you can then wash out with more juice. as for the end can. get a WES for 60 - 80 quid ( available new) dont bother wasting time buying 'stuffing' and than haveing to cut and weld your old box unless you have the stuff lying about and can weld very well..
-
well having done something similer to yourself then your on the right track. my bike ran ok ( won the class first time out) but the oko carb from classictrials was spot on just as the guy says it will be. it has an adapter for the rubbers on already and is correctly jetted ready to go. i played with the idle and tickover adjustment for a couple of hours till it was set how i wanted. i cant ask for much more its smooth and powerful. job done delivered to your door and fitted in a hour or so.
the barral and bore on mine were a lttle worn so i opted for a re plate and a new piston all from bob wright in weston super mare. they bolted back up evry easily the most frustrating part is getting the damned front of the exhaust off. but off it comes ( check out some photos on this site on how to twist it)
bill pye sorted me some new springs for the forks and off we went. loverly bike it gets better every time i ride it roll on the rest of the year.
i think i'm going to register it and do road trials as well as local twinshock trials..
-
well you have 3 choices.. 1st choice is the cheapest.. do nowt 2nd choice seek out the mod on R2W 's website ( thats what i did) it aint easy it takes more than 5 minutes but it does the trick, 3rd choice .. whip the carb off put it in a box and let lampkins do it for you. longest amd most expensive choice..
basicaly the mod involves whipping the carb off, opening it up and filing a hole with resin and drilling another hole if i remember correctly.. much like heart surgery but in your shed

location, condition, supply, demand. 4 important variables plus sellers skills (10 day auctions finishing sunday evenings) ( excellent photos and clear accurate descriptions)( letting auctions run, no reserve, low starting price ie 99p)
-
no one pretends there is a ballot ( not one that would pass scrutiny) the guys run the trial they get to choose who rides whats wrong with that. sure a few regulers ride every year, those with big pre unit rigids with girder forks probably have an advantage too. those riding with thier daughters and grand parents probably have an advantage.
be honest these lads might not know jonny so jonny might not get a ride unless his/ her entry catches the eye. so play the game move to holland enter from there with your daughter both riding rim braked 500cc raleighs circa 1939 include a hard luck story ( as per X factor) with your entry form and you MIGHT stand a better chance
-
just fill the thing with diesel and let it sit for a couple of days. yeh you will need a new piston and rings and a rebore but a carb clean up (inside) should be ok. might take a while but it shouldnt be expensive all in and the thing will be bullet proof when done..
-
no expert but i suspect the d14 is favourite. if your looking for the inside line on engine stuff i think a guy at Yorks classic is making ally barrels etc.

all you ever dreamed of right here.. lampkins is first class they have almost everything you need to hand and delivery vv quick ( i've seen 'em filling the post office in silsden some days..)
-
just buy the lot from the guy down south. he knows his stuff and the carb comes ready to ride.
makes the bike a bit smoother and a bit more go. more importantly its the best part of 30 years fresher than an original..
-
pack it in.. dont use a drift to squeeze every last bit in but it should be firm
-
great period snaps, loads of detail of the bikes and riders. off piste a little, the Cooper ice hockey helmets bring back great memories

ethanol is nothing more than an organic alchol added at approx 5% to the vast majority of unleaded fuel in the uk ( all brands all suppliers) 10% in the US
Ethanol's hydroxyl group causes the molecule to be slightly basic. It is almost neutral like water. The pH of 100% ethanol is 7.33, compared to 7.00 for pure water.
so i find it difficult to understand how the fibreglass would delaminate or be 'etched ' by the ethanol as it is no more corrosive than water..
-
i suppose he was trying to get it to run as smooth as this. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=tIJmQGmSoQc&...feature=related
as BJ has intimated though the carby MAY be at fault..
