  1. saw an areil in one on sunday .. snug but very do able
  2. i run an absolutely standard b175 engine straight from a mot'd road bike plus electrix ignition in my drayton, its flexible forgiving and more than enough to haul my 18.5 stone up anything , rides fantastic.. all weekend at the captains trial i ve been asked , who did your suzuki piston who built the engine, which barall did you use, whose gears have you got, what airbox is that ( its a standard b175 inlet rubber with a mini moto foam filter ...2.99) dont waste time and money..
  3. you saw it bought it.. how will the previous owners name help?
  4. well the spark plugs clean enough and the sump plugs dirty from old oil.. you didnt break the engine by washing it so ride it..
  5. the first couple of posts in this thread are on the money.. in the whole forum i can find no reference to to cylinder spacers..
  6. questions you need answers to.. are the stantions the same diameter.. are the fork legs the same distance apart in the yokes on both bikes..are the fork legs the same length.. are they both drum braked.. if the answers are yes exactly for the first two and yes within half an inch for the third and of course for the fourth then you ve a chance of it been 'fairly simple'.. if not.. you ll have head scracthing and work to do..
  7. at red rose classic theres a small lad deliberatly riding and winning on what is been called a bultatty...

    Leaky Carb

if you dont have an airline any plumbers merchant will sell you compressed air in an aerosol can.. ideal..
  9. why are you putting lights on it? you dont need them to register a bike to get an mot or ride it legally on the road..
  10. personal preference.. and 90% of riders probably could nt tell the difference whilst riding..
  11. compare the number of leyland tractors bult and the number of shercos.. compare the number of rings sold each year and thats why thier 23 quid.. which considering 20% of that is tax how much profit does the vendor make?
  12. if the mucks coming from the chain in the first place the most obvious way to stop it is a chain guard that proper;y protects the chain top and bottome runs as they pass the wheel tyre swing arm .. failing that move to spain..
  13. i m thinking of car rallying i have a ford focus 4wd how can i make it into a 1975 ford escort, cheaply if possible
  14. frankly you should be celebrating..the weather was the worst i ve ever trialled in.. sleet hail gusting winds.. proper hard man stuff but 50 or more middle aged blokes braved it on everything from rigid ambassadors to show queen ariels. nice compact trial no mud some climbs and some sections had no rocks or stones..
  15. trials are too cheap and it will come back and bite us on the bum.. one example on these pages this week.. someone asking for folks to clock out when they finish so the organisers know if everyones ok.. two years ago a fell runners wife turned up at the prize presentation asking where her husband was... no one else had missed him.. he sadly lay dead on the moors and nobody had even known he was missing.. you can imagine the coroners response when told they dont check who starts or finishes and now organisation has had to change massively and with much increased costs and time.. 10/12 /15/18/20 quid is nothing to the wads of cash handed over at telford at the weekend, my daughter pays 30 quid for triathlons and thinks thier cheap its 98 quid in to watch arsenal 15 quid to watch bradford city batter sunderland in the fa cup almost a tenner each adult at the cinema to sit down.. trials is cheap..
  16. for consumables i ve always used trialsbits stuff is posted out super fast always have everything they advertise.. for specific stuff i v always got it direct from the importer.. a small village in yarkshire where a world champion used to have the papershop and his son delivered papers on a ty.. what happened to him...
  17. re insuring on a frame number.. many companies as stated do only do it for a fortnight if at all but one company no names but it is a womans christian and surname and sounds like pile of trash will insure your bike forever on a frame number alone.. and you get unlimited aa call outs on her cover as well as a freebie..
  18. you start by applying to hmrc for a NOVA1 form so that they can say they dont want import duty on it.. then you get it mot'd then a dating certificate then insurance then apply to dvla..
  19. ok.. a simple message.. keep the thing simple.. of the stuff youve listed nothing nothing is of value... except mabe the rims. use 21/18. use cub or bantam hubs they are still cheap and plentiful look for abandoned bantam projects or complete bantam wheels. use the std c15 or b40 fork put your honda rims on if they use the same number of spokes. you could use all your honda forks hubs etc but you d have a bike with limited riding opportunities and limited resale value use brit stuff and you ve got part compatability and useability and saleability.. trawl ebay for a couple of months you ll find everything you need. enjoy
  20. lose centre blocks....?? i ve never done it never seen it.. run 4 in the back 6 in the front irc have very soft walls and it feels like your riding a flat tyre, michelin tyre of choice.. no copper will stop you on them pressures..
  21. i would nt bore out the yokes if your unsure of the forks. your shim to make up the difference would be the thickness of a piece of paper... careful though if you fold that piece of paper in half 103 times it would be as thick as the universe. http://www.sciencealert.com/a-piece-of-paper-folded-103-times-will-be-as-thick-as-the-universe
  22. we have a couple of lads with landies take pre 65 heavy metal in landies, one in the back of a 90 hardtop.. one in the back of a brand new lwb station wagon the most practical tho is the 110 hi cap just need a proper ramp and somebody to help..
