  3. never ran oil in mine just lubed the timing chain with a spray oil..soak the plates for 24 hrs before assembly if you like then if the chains oiled job done..
  4. i know a forum user who will be much amused to see his name used as a title to this post..
  5. paid my tax at the weekend so i can get on and get a new ish van... so the Citian..can i get a bike in straight or does it have to go diagonally.. are they ok? any issues?..
  6. well although you d get a ride at yorks classic in the specials class the bultaco hub no matter what machining it has is ineligble for the championship classes
  7. and here is a perfect example of a little knowledge being dangerous Sainsbury's and Marks and Spencer who are currently paying 34p per litre, Waitrose who are paying 33p per litre, Tesco who are paying 32p per litre and Co-op who are paying almost 31p per litre. Arla, which supplies Asda, pays farmers 25p per litre, as does Muller Wiseman. Dairy Crest is set to cut its price to less than 25p per litre, and First Milk - which recently delayed payments to farmers - pays about 22p per litre. Iceland supermarket gets its milk from Arla and Muller Wiseman on the open market but in the good times they can get 50% more than the top fixed rate.. mix into that the variables of rents rates labour costs etc etc and its far from 'low' pricing affecting dairy farmers.. detail and changes made as aresult of jonnyb's excellent questions
  8. you dont need a number plate for an MOT... i happily have my ajs tested every year and it hasnt got one at all not even a v5..j
  9. just seen a very nice job of putting a kl kwacker unit in a 247 mont..
  10. the law couldnt care less what recipts photos etc you have or proof of ownership ( and v5 have it written in large letters on the front that a v5 is NOT proof of ownership) if someone else can prove its thiers thats where the story ends.. get a named and dated reciept from the person you give the cash too with details of vin engine number and thats all you can do..
  11. always meet propective purchaers at the local police station. i think they ve become used to trials bikes been 'tested' in the car park. only once has a buyer said no. classic bike buyers are the worst for just wanting to come and look trials riders always buy classic bike mob just want to come and kick tyres and say i ve others to look at..
  12. i think i mentioned that as a caveat when i first posted.. none the less they do give a snap shot of sales..
  13. on the internet free access to all in the uk.. https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/make/beta#!newreg this is the beat page go to a -z of manufacturers and play away.. enjoy..
  14. what is it that gasgas are the market leaders of? clearly they have a business plan that is utterly flawed and how they have managed to carry 26000000 euros of debt is incredible.. as are some of the stats above.. delears clearing 1200-1400 a bike.?. i suspect some were spluttering into thier cornflakes this morning when they read that. evo 250 and evo 300 are the most popular trials bikes in the country withf fairly solid registrations / v5 issued over the last half dozen years i havent done the math but suspect that every other manufacturer cant do that many registrations across thier entire range. the registartions may have flaws as a measure of measuring sales BUT when some manufacturers sales fall and others rise over a sustained period then best guetimates can be made . for example in recent years one manufacturer changed importer and registrations have fallen dramatically since. in 2014 a total of 290 beta product were registered with the dvla of which 149 were evo 250 2t... gasgas had 224 total registrations of which 62 were txt 250 in its various guises
  15. according to the dvla about 3 times more betas are registered each year than gasgas..
  16. very few people pay that kind of money only 4 4rt's were road registered last year..... compared to 400 betas..
  17. i ll wager a small fortune that it isnt the case.. gasgas has a long history of enduro bikes the others do not and i dont see many if any at enduros..
  18. in practical terms its difficult to see new bike sales sustaining one manufacturer never mind half a dozen.. even less likely if you owe 24 million euros..
  19. i dont think we ve ever turned a bike away at yorks classic and yes occasionally folks do ride clubman route on specials. regular clubmen riders refer to it as the tarts route, although i ve never seen mr kipling ride.
  20. equally if it were registered pre84 you d be just as well burning the 25 quid as there are no pre84 records..
  21. log book is not proof of ownership and says so in bold letter on the front.. when will the acu and amca wake up to the fact they can put a stop to trails and mx bike threats.. every bike must have a competition licence engine and frame numbers recorded on it . immediately ends the use of stolen gear.. immediately..
  22. i use whatever 20/50, 10/40 is cheapest.. clear it out every couple of trials.. no problems.. probably ran 20/50 back in the 50/60/70's and if it survived until 2015 it cant be all bad.. best to change regular whether super fandango sythetic or morrisons value
  23. they do have a lot of cameras but no recipricol agreement with the uk re dvla data.. however they do like the on the spot fines.. i was captured red handed on my tenere twice a few years ago by gendarmes with speed guns, yet when i slowed to pull up was waved through with a smile... unlike thier colleagues in switzerland who are proper no smiles..
  24. one of the benifits of the eu.. free travle of people and goods.. gotta love them eurocrats
  25. sorting out that kick start spring is definately a three handed job
