  1. cut out the middle man completely and fit the electrix unit.. i as a complete electrics fool had it wired up and running within an hour not touched it since.
  2. i suppose you could find a forum for posting pics of items to clarify what they are. certainly the most unbelievable stuff will fetch money. i was selling the remains of a gasgas only to have a guy ring up asking for a bolt.. he described i checked it and he offered 30 quid .. fo a bolt there and then as it was literally unobtainium.. ( twice stepped for a shock mount) so dont be throwing stuff out .. every penny counts.. only sell on ebay when you ve a handle on what it is and approx value. ,
  3. yes .. its very expensive... very expensive.. the mx boys do it best theres an american system can make it look better than new..
  4. had a rack on the back of an 84 polo and a 99 punto no problems just remember they are wide when your going down lanes and through gates.. lightboard essential..
  5. i ve worn vari focals for years now and my trials riding was getting worse so i left them in the van.. my riding got immediately better.. still where them for everything else i just think that our eyes are all over especially when riding sections looking up and down that etc that the brain becomes fuzzy when it should be sharp.. so there staying in the van.. its finding them when i finish thats hard..
  6. the irc has very soft sidewall to the point hwere on the road or trail they feel like riding on a flat tyre..
  7. got myself a new aeorta way back in 99 rode pre65 trials before and still do, makes absolutely no difference to what you can and cant do.. state of mind not state of health.

    Fantic 301

do you want to ride then do so do you want rid.. put it back on ebay the engine alone will sell it.. advertised as a 301 you ll find buyers at the 600 quid mark despite its 'patina'
  9. well total opposite at yorks classic today. i went to spectate for an hour whilst my lunch was prepared but picked up a board at a section where riders were doing thier own scores.. every single rider stopped , said hello some even shook my hand and wished me a happy new year spot on

no. falls down on a number of criteria. number one been its red.
  11. make the brake arm longer so although your brake pedal leverage will be reduced you can even it up by lengthening the rear brake arm..
  12. top yule tide tip for trials riders.. dont volunteer for the washing up.. all that salt in the fairy liquid can toughen up the pinkies and lead to a loss of feeling on the old brake/clutch lever leading to a dramatic drop off in performance much better to have a constant supply of turkey sarnies liberally buttered and with lashings of cranberry sauce this will result in a loverly lubricating moisteriser for the aforementioned pinkies and a Bou standard performance on Boxing day..
  13. cant fault woodys advice above i ll add that carole nash will insure bikes forever on a frame number but only third party
  14. holtworks do the slim style.. probably looking 8- 12 weeks wait though.. they are worth the wait.. search for them on the tinterweb thing
  15. well at the moment fantic fans have two choices three perhaps.. stick with what you ve got..ask a bespoke alloy tank maker to make up something for you ( i understand that they cost circa 360 and its 12/18 weeks wait) there are also a couple of makers of 'fibreglass style' tanks i use that phrase but clearly the ones been made are quite sophisticated today so they dont rot in the fuel and are thus no longer the cheap and cheery alternative. perhaps you could ask the chap who makes the tlr200 replica tanks to' knock something up' he uses a small alloy tank for the fuel and then uses fibreglass as a shroud/cover for the tank seat and side panels and these would be a cracking solution for the modern look but in keeping with the original style. i for one would certainly have one as his tlr stuff is pretty good
  16. i'm a plumber use a rothenberger torch and mapp gas that ll get it red..
  17. as a matter of interest a writer/publisher, to whom i was close, of car workshop manuals, held a letter from austin morris allowing him to reproduce exactly any and all printed material that bore thier name and or trademarks and all was fine and dandy until someone at said companys succesors saw the value in what he was doing and called time, unless large sums equal to many many times the value of the projects was forthcoming. so such agreements as intimated by one party can/do exist although the reward for thier use does not actually have to reflect any reward the user may have gained from using them and could be considerably greater
  18. the lads right.. run a 6mm drill through and use nylock nuts the spot welds holding the brake drum on the tube can be flimsly as well so put some more on for a belt and braces job.
  19. before putting shiny stuff on, make sure the bike was mechanically sound and having the wheels in line would be fairly close to the top of the list.. the wheel will be 'off centre' for one of a number of reasons... most likely the chain line will be the major factor or the hub may be too wide.. first rule is a good coat of looking at your bike then find a bike that is right and note the differences measure take photos..then decide a course of action.. what ever you do dont put the new mudguard on yet you ll have a fair bit to do before your at that stage.. welcome to the joy of pre65.. putting right stuff on 50 year old bikes..if your in yorkshire check out the names on yorks classic list of blokes that can..
  20. thats the problem with a democratic club the members can vote for the rules and if a majority agree the rule is made.. other clubs are available but if you know of another purely pre65 bike club with a membership the equal of Yorks classic i d be surprised, if you know of another purely pre65 bike club organising as many pre65 bike trials as Yorkshire classic i d be surprised. i you know of any pre 65 bike club that has more riders than yorks classic i d be surprised. if you know of anywhere as good as yorkshire id be amazed add to that trials add to that pre65 and its a recipe that cant be beaten anywhere in the world... Carlsberg couldnt do better..
  21. ps. to deryk sadly no shawforth shake this year and perhaps for sometime as the wind turbine boys want to play on the moor.. and.. i know of a quality magazine available at any newsagent in the country from a local publisher with half a dozen local folk writing/editing that makes a loss with each and every issue.now quarterly instead of monthly and most of the sales now subscription... paper costs and ink have simply made them too expensive at retail to consume in large numbers as we once did. Equally the interweb has everything you need to know so demand falls so costs per copy increase..
  22. those fine drayton bantams are eligible and yet only the swing arm pivot point is original the rest is newly fabricated in the style of but not like a bantam onther than they are twinshock and have two wheels.. you fine c15 would be welcome at Yorks classic and the NBBR yet i fearthe frame will not pass muster on the scottish play.. sorry trial.
  23. vegetable and mineral should never mix.. never.
  24. msm and you ll never need on the day insurance for trials as its all in..
  25. msm brilliant dearer but cover includes whilst riding in road trials.. result if you do more than a couple a year its cheaper than on the day insurance..
