why would you not want to spend 107 quid on a brand new thing set up with the right jets ready to fit.. and available next day?
with your cheap copy and no idea of jet sizes you ll be chasing shadows every time you ride. various internet auction sites are full of amal carbs from a fiver although the 624 is a rare beast.. good luck
-
fifteen year old stuff from any manufacturer is going to be a lottery. gas gas and beta have sold the most bikes so in theory there parts availability might be best.
-
what do you bung the end of the pipe with during the freezing process that expands less than the steel of the pipe..cos that ll be some force..
-
its a beta.. if you dont run it virtually every day even with the clutch mods it will very often stick on start up. the only way around this is to start it out of gear point it away from anything solid and change into first the bike will pull away ride round for a couple of minutes and it ll free off and will be no more bother all day. the next day it will do exactly the same.
keep putting new oil in warm it up use it drain and refill this will eventually get rid of all the water/cloudyness the window may be cloudy forever.. no need to use an expensive oil till its clear.

and there not the only ones i ve one on my ajs 16 from that internet company with the bee
-
its a numbers game.. and trials bikes are like newspapers.
the sun sells 2.2m copies daily and everybody knows what to expect from it, the telegraph is a proepr read but only sells half a million a day and the independent has some nice pictures and sell only 66k a day. so folks like thier news simple in a tabloid format with something to see on page 3. folks like what they know. the independant on the other hand nice pictures but folks are a little more unsure of what there going to get so they sell less than man utd sell programmes at thier games..
trials riders like the conventional, they like what they know, they ride what thier mates ride. a very few folks ride sommat different.. just to be different like your independant reader..
do you read the sun or the independant should be the question..
-
ys looks like they ll do the job. remember that the original trials bikes had 19 inch rear wheels and the road bikes even bigger so with the 18 inch rim you ve lowered the height of the top edge of the rear sprocket.. a bigger sprokect would not only make the bike more usable but give more clearance.
.nitrite is the plastics proper name.. not a typo sadly.. following a little 'episode' words can look right to me but to you they are plainly bonkers!
-
only one political party is commited to an in out referendum.. UKIP is nt it.. end of politics.. oh hang on the MOT has been scrapped for pre60 vehicles and road fund licences for historic vehicles has again becoming a rolling date all EU centric decsions.. as unfortunately the legislation to outlaw non oem parts on vehicles..
-
blimy apart from jampots and the oil tank i thought it was my 16.. the chain rub on the swing arm is simply because the rear sprocket front sprocket sizes, shock length means the chain is having to go up and over the swinging arm,, get a piece of nirte and fix iit to the top as a 'slipper' my jampots are very short compared to your modern shocks..i believe my bike is a 53 off the top of my head.

bantams eligibility in pre 65 trials as a point of discussion is lomg over. i started riding in 95 on a 3spd d3 before my entry was accepted for my first trial i had to show it had only 3 spd and the loop of frame under the engine was intact and unmolested. 4 spd were specifically named in the club rules as not eligible at this time and perhaps for another 15 years. no one elese in the club ran a bantam at the time as i recall, big bangers were still de riguer.
long before the turn of the century one elder statesman did start to ride a 4 spd, this coincided with the upturn in popularity of cubs and his entry was 'overlooked' even though he had some success although not class winning
fast forward to the second decade of this century and regualtions were amended as the sport evolved the class is now pre 70 and 4 spd bantams are perfectly acceptable and on balance rightly so
a v5 proves absolutely nothing other than the registered keeper of a vehicle ie the person responsible for paying the tax everything else on the document is open to intepretation or based on information provided.
-
it ll be spades more than 18..
-
absolutely certainly.. nova 1 the scourge of registering vehichles.. even need one for my 1953 ajs..
-
car builder supplies are your friend..
-
bou might be the best, who can argue.... however until the lads won the ssdt and scott he aint a trials rider.. i canot understand if he and machine or so good why they do not enter the biggest trials in trials biggest market place.. prefering to enter a 4 laps of a quarry or an outdoor wtc that has two sections indoors..
-
msm are the insurers of choice if you wish to do road trials.. 4 trials a year and you ll be in credit against using on the day insurance. carol nash insure all my bikes simply and cheaply.. on reg numbers or frame numbers.. also unlimited aa call outs.. against an aa recovery/roadside policy which now limit to 5 call outs per year on a std policy..
im about to enquire with msm about the possibility of cars whilst on long distance car trials

the hydraulic lifts circa 80 quid are THE best thing you can buy for the bike. to maintain the lifts life dont leave extended( up) overnight..
-
be careful.. all his stuff is top quality.. once you buy sommat you ll want some more.
his phone number is on several posts in the forums.. a quick search should find it. great guy will definately tell you whats what and whats not and i cannot fault my bantam, a guy in the same street as me bought a fully built bike from him and it runs as sweet as a nut..
hes normally available during the day but might take a couple of attempts as hes always on the phone.. enjoy.
heres a link after a quick smooch on here..http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/45152-frame-builder/?hl=pickering#entry330133

we were talkin about this only yesterday in the queue for a section.. follow the advise on clutch mods on this forum and use ipone oil was the most common reccomendation.. the plates can swell with the wrong oil and thats what causes the drag if you done everything else..
-
all sound advice above.. 250 should be your max to start with. get something mainstream look at plenty before you buy that bargain is NEVER a bargain. get one to ride not a dooer upper youll spend all your time and money in the shed and not riding..
-
i dont believe that in 2014 the sammy miller book of trials riding would stand up in court as an authoritive guide as to what driving/riding standards are..
-
ouch, give the guy a chance to reply.. almost midnight on a saturday night isnt probably the best time to want to strike up a conversation..
-
if your tyres say.. off road use only.. they also have.. in usa and canada only.. printed on them.. so they should still pass muster in the uk. you are not required to have a speedo for an mot but you must have one if you ride on the public highway.
on your green lanes the public highway legally is 20 metres either side of the centre of the established route.
even on the green lane or 20m either side of the mid point you could be prosecuted for dangerous or reckless riding which might be interpretted to include standing up..
-
villiers services will probably sell you an engine. otherwise well known internet auction sites are available.. this is a VERY expensive way of building a bike VERY expensive route..
-
the main consideration to the manufacturer will be price.. as the brake on a trials bike is unsophisticated due to its relative use, its not required to slow the bike down from high speed just to cope with speeds normally well below 30mph. you d probably find better brakes on a 1500 quid scooter or a 3 grand mountain bike
