My advise,
Engine parts as i recently found out, at lest for the 2 stroke 250 (tyz 250) you can order by your local Yamaha dealer, they just need a engine number or a partsnumber, for the SY they are the same as Yamaha uses!
For the rest of the parts, just compare them to other bikes, for instance my brakes are from AJP, the same as GG and Sherco, only the rotors are from Braking, i can still order them.
The only components that are difficult to get are the rear mudgards, they are specific for an SY, i don't know how this is for a fourstroke.
Tanks and the rest off the plastics will fit from a SR modell.
I don't think you will have problem though as the SYF 125 still is build and sold new, at least overhere in Europe.
Most important, just ride it enjoy it, love it like hell and don't worry about breaking it!
They are realy tough litle bikes, a lot stronger than a GASGAS and the like.
When something realy goes wrong, there will always be someone who can and will help you out, after all we are trialists!!
( I don't think that last one is a real word?)

Hey shyted,
Hope you enjoyed your blast, i know yout Fantic did!
Nice ride.
Hope you scare the "modern" riders a long time together.

Just an update.
I have mounted a Goldentyre front tyre on my Scorpa.
Just have to say, absolutley love it!
In the sand and the mud it is fantastic, loads off grip and feel and super light steering even when i'm standing still, what works nowadays with me.
I can put in about 0,1 bar more off pressure in it compared to a Michelin and this makes a difference like night and day.
At the end off the season i will have to change the reartyre, it will also be a Goldentyre for my Scorpy.
-
For everyone who ownes a SY250, i recently found out that the partnumbers that Scorpa used for the engine parts are exactly the same as Yamaha uses.
My local Yamaha dealer informed me that with either the partnumber or preferably the engine number they can order any part for your engine!
-
Thanks Mike.
I will contact them.

Thanks Mike,
I will contact them.

Does anyone know the size off the exhaust gasket (diameter) that is used in an 2006 sy 250 engine?
I need a new gasket between the barrel and the front pipe, but i'm having trouble finding the right one.
The only partnumber i have is from Scorpa, 3PA-14613-10, and the Scorpa importer can't get parts for the moddels pre 2010 overhere in Holland.
Maybe someone can tell me the partsnumber from Yamaha?
Thanks a million!

I think step 1 is to put in the oil that is recomended for your bike, maybe you have to change it a second time after running it for an hour or so.
Step 2 would be to look at the adjustment of your operating mechanism, is the free play set up right?
Step 3, if you have a hydraulic clutch, sorry not familiar with your bike, bleed the system.
If this fails, you will have to change the plates.
When the wrong type off oil was used, it is possible that the coated plates have soaked up the oil, you can't get rid off it so a change will be ineviteble.
Good luck.

I have fitted the GT (trials) frontyre onto my Scorpa and absolutly love it.
Compared to the michelin overhere in the sand and mud it is so much better.
It grips like mad and you can use about 0,1 bar more presure so the steering is much lighter.
I personly think that for a modern bike they are even better than the IRC a use on my Fanny.
They give more feel and grip like mad on soft ground.
It is just that we don't have much rocky ground here in Holland.
I have to wait untill September before i can try them in Bilstain.
-
Please don't use the Heidenau!
It is almost the same rubish as a Pireli.
A alternative is the Mitas, they make a tube type rear tyre.
Also you can choose any kind off tyre you like, you can fit an inner tube inside a tubles outer without any problems.

Spent a beautyfull weekend riding the 305 at the D-cup meeting in Hergenroth, Germany.
2 days off fantastic sections and lovely people.
Fanny ran like a dream!
-
Sorry for the late reply.
yes my adjuster stops after a number off clicks, sorry haven't counted them.
What works for me at the rear is, turn it up so far that it almost bottoms out when i compress it for a step.
Take an hour or two to try different settings.
Some people like to set the rear shock harder then others.
A normal C- spanner from a motorbike whil fit, i juse the spanner from a Jawa toolkit.
Good luck and enjoy the time with your Scorpa.

I don't realy agree with tofasttim.
I think both type off bikes have their place in history and in modern day classic competition.
There will always be enthousiasts that will like a bike, no matter what year it was build.
I am in my early 40's and at the moment as a starter in our beautyful sport i am riding a Fantic 305, that i love more every time i ride it and a Scorpa SY 250, the same story.
But for me the most beautyful kind of trials bike still is a home build pre '65 bike.
Hopefully someday i will find the time to build one myself.
As a reply to Jon V8.
The fading of the pre '65 bikes is in my opinion a problem off some riders who optimise their bike beyond what was posible in the period their bikes where build.
as a result a club will have to build the sections to suit the kind off bikes that are entering the competition.
It is no fun trying to fight your way throug a section that is challenging for a modern bike on a rigid pre '65!

Go tot the site off the hellteam in australia, there you can find a download how to set up the paioli fork.
It should be quite easy to pickup the front however.
My Scorpa is a 2006 model and it responds quite well and turns like crazy in the non-stops, it also has a paioli fork.
It looks to me like there is something wrong wit your damper unit.
What works for me is, preload off the spring 4.5 to 5 turns in, damper setting 9 clicks open.
According to Scorpa Italia, found on the site off the hell team, that is the basic setting.
Your rear spring should be quite soft so you can push the suspension realy easy in compression.
Maybey it will also help to set your ignition in racing setting.
How you can do this you can also find on the site off the hell team.
What they write about the comparison to the GasGas is wright.
You should look at your Scorpa more like a 2-stroke Montesa or a modern twinshocker.
Our bike is much smoother than a modern GasGas or Sherco.
A female club member calls mine a sweet and lovely bike.
Thats the reason i fell in love with it the minute i rode it for the first time!
It's just like a lighter version off my Fantic 305, also it is a lot easyer to ride than my Fantic.
-
Thanks for the tip.
I will be over there in september.
Managed to fix it for now so i can go to the D-cup in Hergenroth in the weekend.
For all Fantic lovers out there, i stumbled over the site from Delay in Spain, they also got a lot off stuff for our beloved bikes.

Wich Silencer (exhaust) will fit a Fantic 305?
The one that is fitted to my 305 was a home made example but it has a hole in it from rubbing the tyre.
At the moment it seems a bit difficult to find a original silencer overhere in Holland, so does anyone know iff the silencer from a 245, 307, K-roo or a Coach will fit?
Next quistion.
Does anyone know who imports the products from WES exhaust in Holland, Germany or Belgium?
As far as i know they build a exhaust system in aluminium for the Fantic 305.
Ar there other manufacturers outhere who build these kind off parts for a 305 Fantic?
-
You might try Bob wright, he's the Fantic specialist in the UK.
Just type Bob Wright Fantic parts and you will find him on the net.
-
Maybe look at a rhermostat from a Beta or a GasGas?
They just might fit.
As far as i know most of the times it's a universal part, just like the radiator.
-
The bike you are considering the Ossa is sometimes quite difficult to start, even with the battery pack.
Also for a public it sounds quite loud due to the high compression it kind of barks at tickover.
I don't know the Beta 4 stroke, overhere i haven't ever seen one, but the Montesa starts easely and isn't realy loud with the original pipe, only when you give it a full hand off throtle you can hear her.
Most off the 2 stroke bikes ar harder to start due to compression, you realy have to give them a good kick and some off them can kick back, my Fantic does sometimes quite hefty.
-
Maybey get yourself another bike and let some one else enjoy the sweetnes and tractabilety of the Scorpa?
The TYZ engine was build for a different kind of riding as a Sherco or a GasGas.
This engine works a treat for the Scorpa frame as the Scorpa SY was build for clubmen not to win the WTC.
Even the SR series with the Sherco Engine is less able to ride the stunts and hop around like the Sherco, Gas Gas or Beta.
It is more like a 2 stroke Montesa Honda, just build to last and enjoy.
-
Thanks for the info.
I'll keep that in mind.
I posted the question because a friend of mine deals with trials gear and is thinking about taking up the dealership of Goldentyre to replace the IRC tyre.
A lot of us overhere are using IRC at the moment, i am using them on my Fantic and they perform well in the sand, but the dutch importer can't seem to get them at the moment.
So we are looking for a replacement for the IRC.
-
Has anyone outthere tried a goldentyre front tyre and what was it like?
I need an new front tyre for a Scorpa SY 250 and would like to try a Goldentyre as IRC tyres are hard to get in Holland.
I am a novice and overhere we ride on sand and mud most of the times.
-
I think you should use whatever sort of lid you feel comfertable with.
Just look at the ece label when you want to ride in competition.
Personely i like the jitsie helmet, plus a sweat beany.
The ventilation is good in the helmet and you get a second liner with the helmet that is quite easy to change.
Maybe before you make a choice for what kind of helmet you would like to use you should consider the nature of the 2 sports.
The manufacturers will have taken this in to acount when they designed the helmets.
-
Yesterday i rode my 305 after a month of it standing in the shed because of a injury to wrist.
It took me about 5 mintues to get used to her again, but after that it wa a joy.
This week i have to make a small chaingard to cover the lower portion of the rearwheel sprocket.
The following weekend i will ride her in the next D-cup meeting in Germany.
Hope the wether will hold up like today.

Try snezzy.be in Belgium.
They sold the bikes new, it's just that Tanja does'nt like the Paioly forks.
Also lokk on the site trial-motorrad.de
These 2 are known in Europe as the 2 shops that are specialised in the SY.
