  1. After saying about "never getting it on the Scorpa" i DNFd on Sunday due to it. It was getting so i physically couldnt apply the clutch (my finger just wouldnt move) i decided it was dangerous and stopped riding. However i hadnt drunk any water, and i think this has something to do with it, as you get cramps etc from lack of fluids. Also the trial was a case of, whoever can paddle best doenst get a five and fall off, so there was a lot of clutch on and clutch off. However someone i ride with drowned his Sherco 290, and finished the trial on my Scorpa (he secretly prefers it to his bike) and he said even after riding a few sections he could feel it starting to come on. Im going to have a look at adjusting the lever, and possible a bigger lever (ive got one from off my gasser) Just my thoughts!
  2. I came onto my Scorpa off a 99 GasGas 160, and i used to get terrible arm pump on that, so much so i used to have to stop and rest for a while. I never get such thing on the Scorpa at all, i can finally use 1 finger on the clutch.
  3. I thought mine was nosiy as well, but ive learnt that "its a Scorpa" Rides great for me!
  4. I can vouch for the sump plug being made of toffee, you cant grip mine anymore, another thing to get sorted. Its very hard to get the oil out of the other drain bolt. Btw in my post you said 600mls of oil i think? Also i got the middle box out, and looking at it i think everyone should take it out! To do what Birkett says and stop it rubbing on the edge of the engine casing, there is a huge dent in it. It says to round it off and put silicone layer to act as a cushion.
  5. I am using Motul Transoil 10W30, is this wrong?
  6. Right thanks Boo! I am going to get it off on Sunday, i wanted to take it off because it gives me an excuse to give it a good clean up, (including carb) and whilst im doing work i may as well fit my fuel filter. Would it be a good idea whilst its off, to get the middle box reinforced along the bottom end where it normally cracks (like it says on the Birkett site) With the clutch, im not sure about oils etc because there are different reccomendations for the amount of oil to put in the bike. I will check the reservoir at the bars though, and when i next change the oil i will try a different one. Is there a particular oil that Scorpas really like? or could it be that the clutch is not properly adjusted? if this is the case should i fiddle with the little arm by the engine? or leave that alone. So many questions! Thanks
  7. Here is a low quality image with the crack (approx width and size and placement) Any ideas what happened? will it be able to be welded? does it still need to come off? Thanks once again! I want to get this sorted so i can get back to riding again. http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/6826/zaustos1.jpg
  8. Hi, The middle exhaust box has a slight crack in it down the left hand side (its not in the usual place right at the bottom of the middle box) , i dont think its blowing through it, it almost looks like its been wacked rather than split due to weakness. i have been advised it needs repairing before i ride it again. I take it i need to take it to an ally welder, do i have to take the whole unit off? if so is it very difficult and will i need to replace any seals or anything? I will try to upload a pic later. Thanks guys! Also the clutch is dragging (Edit) the smallest bit, but its making everyone who rides my bike stall it, is there a checklist or something i can go through to try to get rid of it! Cheers
  9. Im sorry Ned but that was what i was told when i rang a Scorpa dealer. What wheel bearings would you like? Dont tell me its the small ones, they are no good... etc I wouldnt repeat something that i just made up? Why would i have a go at my own brand of motorcycle?
  10. I too just swapped my front wheel bearings, and was stung by the price of them, and apparently the front ones are rubbish anyway, and were put in there to reduce weight and not last!. Also this could be a silly question so dont laugh, do i need to grease anywhere when fitting the bearings? Thanks
  11. You are better off walking away and having to wait a while (even if it makes you very sad, as you think ill NEVER find another one) than having a bike that your constantly being told needs this doing or looks like it could do with that.
  12. I had this problem on my Scorpa, turns out the bit below the handlebar clamps (oh so technical!) wasnt tight enough. I thought it was the bearings but then found that there was no play at all, however on very steep downhills i would get the sensation that the bars were turning forwards.
  13. But not me Glad to hear your SY is going ok for you to ride it, i too thought the tight and twisty trial was good, as the clutch was very different to my old GG200 so it got me used to it.
  14. Today i rode my Scorpa for a bit of a practice, however after about 20mins i noticed that on huge revs (something ive never really needed to use on this before) it was coughing and spluttering like crazy. I spoke to someone who said (as i thought was likely) there could be water in the float bowl, but as i couldnt take the carb out at the practice i thought id have a look at the airfilter to check it was in correctly. It turned out the airfilter wasnt fitted properly, this was because the whole airfilter is foam, with no little rubber bit on the top, i managed to open it out and it felt better until later on when it started doing it again. I was wondering perhaps if i could have over oiled my filter. I will get a new airfilter as i have an old one lying around which has the rubber bit on the top and the gap which the air flows through is much larger. I wondered if this was likely to be my problem - lack of airflow. (i read someone had this problem in another post) However ive just taken the carb out and looked in and sure enough there was a couple of tiny "bubbles" of water in the float boal, i was wondering how much water in the carb it takes for it to cause problems and was this likely to be what was wrong? I also cleaned the Jet which had a very small piece of dirt in. The reason im asking is because i cant tell if its fixed or not as i cant REv it up as much as it needs revving to see if the problem still exists (due to neighbours), and i dont really want to go to the next trial and it start doing it again, so i was wondering if there was anything else i should check - i checked the rubber bits that connect the carb to the engine and aibox and they are fine. Also the spark plug is brand new. One last point there are three tubes coming from the carb, two i gather were for atmospherics or something, and the third i wasnt quite sure what did, however this third tube has a small hole in this, is it vital i replace it? Also have you any tips for excellent carb setup on a Scorpa to get it to rev nice and cleanly, as i rode an 03 SY and it felt a lot cleaner. Thanks for reading!
  15. Somone once told me that they were told not to put much oil on the air filter, and infact they also said some people run the filter with no oil (i cant bring myself to do this.) I think i still put too much oil on my filter as im never sure which is the correct, amount. also it takes me about 20mins to wrestle the bloomin thing in there correctly but this is due to the airfilter not having rubber around the top but foam, i found it easier on my old Gasser! Thats the only input ive got, not too much oil.

Yes i ordered a new plug drain bolt froma Yamaha dealer, but i think its the wrong part! So where you got yours from would be good.

    Sy Problem

Where did you get those carbon fibre effect sticker, ive got that exact mod on the airbox, but its a bit thin.
  18. Great Video, just dont try this in the UK, that would really help is in our battle against antis! Well i suppose we could claim riding in town we werent wrecking the countryside
  19. Its a pathetic attempt at a copy. However, i have started watching fifth gear which i like, because the presenters are quite good.
  20. Yer, i do try that, but i dont like kicking it too weakly because sometimes i need to start in a hurry! It used to hit the old footpegs and blunt the pegs, now it hits the pegs and dents the enormous kickstart.
  21. Sorry to dig up an old thread but.... I said when i next wanted footpegs id get TrialCast ones, and i did. fitted them this morning and they look and feel great (only been messing around with the engine off)so much more grippy. But i was a bit concerned that like with the old pegs when i kick the bike over, they are going to catch on the footpegs , they are smaller so the kickstart will actually go past them but not without snagging the peg. I was wondering what you other Scorpa riders with these pegs found to be a solution, or if it was bad for the pegs, or more likely the kickstart lever. Thanks

    Sy Problem

Ive just got mine and noticed the weak points of the bike for scratching, mainly the frame where your boot rubs. As you have the 04 as do i you can repaint it and it will last about 15mins, ive got the flat bash plate and really like the mod you have done. I must get one of those rear exhaust protectors, but i just cant bear to shell out

    Sy 250f

I tried cutting the conclusion down and using a free translator, i still didnt understand fully, but they seemed to think that perhaps the 2T is still better (to be expected) and that it was a reasonable bike but perhaps there were things that could be fixed. I could have interpreted this wrong but thats the impression i got. Also it listed a price E6840 (Euros)
  24. Well like i said i dont really mind that mine makes that noise, if frexia is riding WoTc rounds with his louder than mine, and he seemed to get up that giant step ok. ITs just that its a completely different bike. I cant wait till i can get used to it, i should improve quite a bit.
  25. Christ mines quieter than that you can see the others looking, and once its warm doesnt really do it on idle. If a world Champ riders bike makes that noise, iam sure mine making that noise wont affect me! Thanks for showing me that I wonder whats the cause of it? Does your 06 sound like that?
