hi guys hope yous can help on a couple of Q's ..............
I'v recently bought my first gasgas txt pro 2010 after being a sherco man for some time. The rear silencer seems to stick out slightly to the side of the bike is there any way this can be straightened to sit in a perfect line?
Also CLUTCH drag . . . I have changed the mineral fluid in the mastercylender but can't seem for the love of god to elimenate drag , 3mm play at the lever ect ect iv done the lot . . . any other tips or problems the gassers are prone to with the clutch that could be causing this? I know they all drag but this is exessive!
Any help will be gratefull , cheers again
Ian.

Splat shop , but be ready to dig deep theyre not cheap
-
definetly double check the idle jet again , if the bikes not ticking over at low end revs then i recon thats where your problem lies.. like thats a five said .also drain the tank and put fresh fuel in.
-
i wouldnt have ATF in my shed never mind in the bike! Putoline light gear oil ...
-
Playing around with the carb wont solve a potential problem, Time and patience should be taken when cleaning the carb out properly , use a airline and carb/brake cleaner in the main jet and idle jet . . . I guarentee this is the problem here my sherco does exactly the same if theres something in there that shouldnt be
-
sounds like the carb needs cleaning thourough to me!
-
your best bet would be to call sherco tony and see if they can give you a code. Failing that have you tried going in to a hardware store with (for examlpe) deulux colour charts and take a good handfull of them away with u to get a close match? you could then take the chart to a body repair shop and get them to mix a 2 part for you..

80 ML OF GOOD SYNTHETIC OIL TO 5 LTRS OF FUEL!!
450ml of gear oil changed regularly ....
check nuts and bolts regularly
clean carb every couple of outings
drain water from airbox / clean air filter
it goes on and on .......

so does the spring need to be longer in theory for better grip? Do i need to remove the shocker from the bike to adjust it or is there a way of doing this while its fitted?
-
Hi, iv got a issue with my bike that i think could be related to the rear shocker? It dosnt seem to grip at the rear end as it should and im thinking the rear spring is adjusted up too much? Is it a possibility that i could slacken the large nuts to increse sag to give it more grip? I have a new tyre , slow action throttle ect ect ...

Hows it going from oban ross ..... I swapped to short levers from long levers and found that the long levers worked better because you get more leverage with them. It'll take time for the muscles to get used to pulling in the clutch lever with one finger again just keep getting out on the bike and practacing ... give the clutch a bleed from time to time to get rid of any air in the system , lubracate any moving parts on the lever ect ect ....
-
Thats great information guys really helpfull now i know what to be looking out for when iv got time to get it stripped down, thanks to all
-
hi lewis, aye i think its the plates thats swollen as well or something along these lines, have u got any idea what the plates should mesure up to? all the gears run smooth when riding its just that nuteral between 2nd and 3rd thats p****** me off ... I'll give the spring a check as well when iv got it stripped down. I take it that its just a case of adjust and ride adjust and ride to get the clutch lever set properly?
-
That sounds a bit extreme for what it is... I wouldnt be spending 600 quid on my bike for something i can repair myself.... its a minor problem that most bikes suffer from ( clutch drag). Main answer im looking for is the clutch a simple enough job to do and do i need a holding tool.. any SHERCO owners help?
-
i use putoline light gear oil , its been changed recently
-
How easy is it to fit the complete clutch kit to a 290 sherco , and is the clutch holding tool needed for this? I seem to be hitting a neterual between 2nd and third on occasions which is a nightmare if sitting at the bottom of a steep slope or step and you go nowhere when i drop the clutch! There also seems to be way to much drag on the clutch when sitting in the one spot for a time.... adjustment has been made on the lever which hasnt helped any, will a new clutch kit help this problem also??
thanks in advance for any help guys.

hi malcom.
Yes he would still be aloud to ride c class on a 125cc bike. And the answer to your other quiestion is NO he's not too young to be riding 125 at all, it all depends on him ability to ride one at his age /weight ect ..... good luck to the lad thats what i say and i'll be watching out for him next year at the club trials.

can someone explain what all these settings for the carb are and how you go about doing it?
-
Dirty carb guarentee it. When your cleaning the carb have x2 tubs to hand .... one for the carb and the other for the cleaned jets and components. Take your time doing the carb its something that shouldnt be rushed
-
hows it going malcom, im just down the road in oban ....What age / height and weight are you? i know a few adults riding 125's that dont seem to have any problems as you can fit some trick bits to the bike ( compression head ect) set the rear shock / forks for your weight... All in all iv had a few bikes all being gassers untill i bought my sherco 4 months ago and i wouldnt go back to any other make of bike...... i
