  1. I sweat profusely so I bought an Airoh TRR mostly on that basis,it is fabulous keeps you very cool and as soon as you pick up some speed(between sections say)the cooling is amazing.Seems well made, easy to wash and you can hardly tell it's on anymore than a cycle helmet. A helmet isn't going to stop you sweating as for headaches I don't get them trials riding but when road racing I just took nurofen before racing job done.
  2. "Lucrative" that must be relative.

    Montesa Cota 247

    That's a beauty great job.
  4. HRC could build a 60kg bike no problem so I don't know where your grassy knoll theory comes from.
  5. Having come back to trials having retired from road racing I find the WTC a series devoid of any relevance to what most people regard as trials and in a desperate state.Barely a dozen riders and being propped up by HRC. Back in my day a very good UK rider could at least enter a world round and having a decent day out without fiving every section and smashing their bike to bits. Obviously you can't turn back progress bike and riding wise but surely the WTC sections can be laid out in a more sympathetic manner requiring different skills without just one big step after another. I like trials but when I watch a WTC round I get bored after 5 minutes so god knows what the general public think, finally if you are going to have a non stop rule why not enforce it that is a complete joke at WTC.
  6. Easy to miss the fuel pump connection as has been said.
  7. Yeah on second thoughts you are right they have been successful in losing tens of millions of pounds whilst putting out sub standard products
  8. "continue to be successful" I don't think by any stretch of the imagination they have been that. It's not hard to sell lots of unit products if you are losing money on everyone of them as they present good value to the customer, every GG model I've seen has had shocking build quality imo and their enduro bikes are even worse by all accounts.
  9. Ok let's just pretend all is rosy with GasGas,sweep it under the carpet and hope some sugar daddy will happily carry on their name whilst losing millions of pounds on a poor product that doesn't sell enough units.Investors and or wealthy individuals are usually not stupid that's how they got to be investors or wealthy. dadof2 is just being realistic something the bean counters at GasGas haven't been.
  10. I haven't lowered my standards I bought a Honda not some POS Italian rubbish like you did. Seems all forums are the same you can't make a point without some tool losing his rag. If you think GG bikes are good quality you clearly know nothing about quality.
  11. James you are at least right in that there's no money in it so perhaps Vertigo have some chance as that looks like a rich mans folly which is fine and they are actually testing it instead of selling a POS that's untested. I ride a Honda it's quality is miles ahead of the ***** the Spanish knock out,as a betting man I'd be happy to bet you 100k JG are not around in 5 years time.
  12. Depends what you compare it to,I have come back to trials from road racing and the quality of a Gas Gas is frankly **** compared to anything used in RR even a proddy bike.If you can't see how badly they are made take a look at any Honda or even a Suzuki and see how it's done properly. My enduro friends say those bikes are even worse.
  13. Did I say GasGas had a good business model? No there's is even worse. As someone who has come back to trials from road racing I am amazed by the current trials market. It is tiny compared to what it used to be and the modus of most new brands seems to be bring out some untested poor quality bike that looks nice and sort things out at a later date. My point is who is going to buy a bike from a small manufacturer that clearly does not have money for R&D and seemingly cares not for their customers,I would have zero confidence buying from them.
  14. That's more of a shed than a factory to me,a deeply flawed business model too I'd say.
  15. A real shame for the employees but folding and starting up again would be pointless long term they'd only end up millions of pounds in debt again. I can't see local or state government bailing them out with the state of the Spanish economy either and no serious investor with half a brain would be interested in a company that knocks out poor quality products with no profit.

    2014 Montesa?

Interesting thread,I've not owned a trials bike for over 20 years but bought a 4RT a few months back for training(I race a GSXR1000) and I think it would be by far the best bike for 95% of riders. It's simply quality for a start do the routine maintenance and forget about it,most of the other makes seem to be nailed together in Spain in the vain hope they might last a week without snapping in two. Some of the basic engineering and quality is shockingly bad,I reckon I could weld a frame better than GasGas can and I've never used a welder before. The suspension is top notch, they've enough power for most people and they hold their value which is enough reason for me to buy one.
