its very nice
Why would they nick it ? for the joyrider factor ? or would a collector want it ??
It all does make you want to get very angry tho
-
Automatic transmisson fluid ?
Any paticular grade ? i use that in the clutch of my old bultaco.
You seriously change the oil every two goes? do you ride it hard ? seems slighly excessive,
Not that i am critisizing in anyway
-
Cheers Fella,
and guys
Will have fun servicing it this weekend,
Just have to try and pull myself away from it to work on the other bike
-
5th and 6th are well different,
i havnt noticed it but only ridden for 4.5 hrs so far,
i used 5+6th to beat my little bro on his mini moto,
He thought he was all-that but i showed him !!
-
the final page is alittle confusing,
"higher than specified...then shim"
do they not mean that if your clutch is smaller than specified then shim with a new plate ?
Im abit lost r2w, sorry
---also rising sun, say not to use synthetic, GB/trans oil, but the 05 manual says TO use synthetic GRO oil ??
---Conflict of opinion there??

Good !!
was slightly worried, as long as im not taking teeth off gears or summat then its all good !!
-
Cheers for the info rhaines,
ill get some more advice, but i will seriouly consider running it leaner,
Im not a total noob, i learnt to ride as a kid etc. But its the wheelies, and the trick riding, and technique that i dont have, EXPERIENCE.
So if i have probs i think ill invest in a slow action throttle 1st and then go from there.
Probably retard the timing as thats the cheapest option, typical student !
-
i can get it with my hand, and yes its easier with the engine turned off,
But the noise as if it just nearly in gear, (when in neutral) seemed strange, just wondered if anyone else had noticed ?

hi again

Question,
First modern trials bike 05 280 txt pro , and i noticed that when i put the bike in neutral while it was running, which was difficult to find most of the time ?? (usual thing !?)
The gearbox seemed to make a noise, if i pulled the clutch in it went away, no change if i leant the bike either way.
I only noticed it halfway through first day of riding it, Is this normal ? i know some road bikes have noisy clutchs (honda hornet 600)
But im alittle concerned.
Killed the bike, found neutral again ,and it stopped, tried it later and made no difference
cheers Mat

Girfriend is at trent !! makes for interresting conversations ! hehe
Yeah ill be at the barnsley trial, ill look out for your face !! im sure your avatar is a real likeness !!
Ill be in a white and brown sprinter hopefully, with a blue pro
my dad says he can beat me on our dying 1979 175cc bultaco !! that is in real need of a resto, im holding him to it !!
Apparently he can beat me cos, i am a diltued version of him, where he is 100% himself !
thinks he's funny !!

been told never to use it on my cars,
eg, my carbed mini etc.
because the engine will become dependent on it, and then wont like to start without it.
Take that with a pinch of salt, just my two pence.

Cheers spud,
I can get acouple of hundred tie wraps from aldi, so dont mind,
Well <mention of this company is not permitted on Trials Central> told me 50:1, and the GasGas manual, says 50:1,
So 50:1 it is, no disrespect
Just that ill stick to the manual, as there has been no ill effects to running it at that mixture
-
cheers for that,
cheapest ive found is here

My dad told me about his friend, when he had a motorcross in the 80's,
his friend asked his mum if he could work on his bike in his room. she thought he meant push bike so said that he could,
And what did he do ? rode is motorcross straight up the stairs and to his bedroom, she hit the roof apparently !

ok,
got new bike, so now i want to protect it too,
heres the monster,
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OXFORD-MONSTER-MOTOR...1QQcmdZViewItem
how much is it normally, i mean id like to get it from my local trials shop, but not if its double the price,
and im right in thinking it is insurance approved isnt it ?
-
hmmm...
no im going to finish it, ive already spent
-
NOO CANT SELL IT !!
after twin shocks this thing is AMAZING !!
ive cleaned it with a sponge and then jet washed the wheels, i dont want to fade the paint or damage the fan, so im careful with the jet wash !
Then i WD40'd it ! all over !
its only ever had PJ1 in it, and ive already stook to that, 50:1.
Are the yeeomee frameprotectors worth it ? i mean i really like the chrome !! but i dont want to rub it all off !!
Going to do a beginer trial on sunday, so still excited !!
Mat
-
hehe,
my friends are pressuring me to finish my other bike ( engine in the mechanical forum)
so that they have one to ride !!
(still excited)
-
Ok,
For my 21st my parents got me my first 'proper' trials bike !!
its a 05 280 pro !! woohooo (still excited)
I rode bikes as a kid at a school and about over the last 5 years have ridden old bikes, which fell apart, lol
BUT NOW !!
Anyway, beside this, i want to look after the thing, and really look after it !!
But unsure of a couple of things,
The manual says to change the piston barrel and cylinder head once a year !! which must be bull ??
ive been cleaning it, oiling it after washing, and cleaning the airfilter after use,
-it needs a service, oil, sparkplug, change coolant,....??
being less than 12months, should i really dive into the swing arm and strip it down for a clean ??
ADVICE please !!
Played on it allllll sunday ! and im keeping a track of how many hrs use i put on it !!

UPDATE
BORE
had a chat with a a chroming place, they say that the pitting is normal, the more you take out of the bore the more pitting you will come across, think its to do with the casting process, and theres nowt you can do about it
anyway, he says, that its not that bad, and it will run fine. BUT i should put an additive in my petrol to line the bore, because i dont want a build up of carbon in these pits as that will score the piston.
THEN WHAT THE HELL DO I RUN THE PETROL AT AND WITH WHEN I RUN IT IN ???
PISTON
apparently the bike isnt a 1993, its a 1992, the headstock lies !! anyway, they can't get the piston i need anymore
So ..... i have to drill the windows into the piston !! putting the same template as the old piston, but not to make the holes as big as there is abit missing out of the skirt at the bottom, round holes will work but i should really make square ones, with rounded edges inside ...
..now..... i dont think i trust myself to do it, if i cock it up, the piston will split,
Back to the shop me thinks !!
the windows are for the intake port opening, as grib says,
was told to do this by White bro's, gasgasuk pointed me to him, cos hes been around since the year DOT
