Section 9 I think day 3.
remember that tree cliff...you had a little sleep and laid on it on the third lap.

Yep, a greet time!
Thanks to Bill Hartnell and all his helpers. Thanks also to the observers.
Team Schwarz Fantic from germany and Holland had a great time. Also have aching legs and a brused thumb where my fanny kicked back and trapped my thumb between my knee and the bars!
I will up load piccies and videH clips under this thread when i get them from my daughters camera. Heres one of me and Spud in the sunshine at the end.
Somerset Steve, I did not see you at all!I

all will work, red blue or black. Some will say blue is the right one as was last made...they just ran out of red pigment

any 35mm fork front end will fit 201, 301,303, 305 and section but thats overdoing it. Send a pM to russel as hes got a 300 with disc he doesnt want
-
you like gear levers dont you steve!

The frame is virtually the same as the 240, no bar to protect the flywheel as its smaller, also swingarm on nylon bushes 18mmm not needle rollers on 20mm as 240. A very good mod is a 201 barrel and piston...156. Excellent bike. Some say better than the 240!! Westyfield has my old one and he finds that a "handful".
240 motor will fit or others with framework. see two threads above..last aircooled mono from Glenn
Spud put some rev 3 footrests on his std mounts without gringing, look for his thread. The airbox and exhaust are probaly 240, exhasut may be specific FM250 and will need changing for a 212 but not a 156 motor.
nice bike

all 212 and 249 motors had ducati after the 300. I would be interested to know what the ported cylinder is like. I posted a 243 once, as per original fantic works docs available via the ex imported here. The bike was horrrible for todays use, very peaky. Even with 305 flywheel and all weights added it was too much. Useless in mud. I turned an extra large flyhweel ring in brass to clm it down...then sold it. The buyer is a youngster who rides a 290 cabastany and a 240...he loves it!

yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yses yes
240 vs 30XXX bottom end
cut frame to clear?.weld flywheel protection basr back on the inside
add a head stay
you can use the airbox, inlet, carby (oko better) and the header
alsi to box if you can cut and weld alot
with 300 exhaust
with 305 top end and hydraulic clutch

worst fantic ever. hydraulic clutch never worked, gearbox broke. Avoid it like the plague is my advice

Forget the flywheel bit. The fins have been ground so a 301/303 flywheel cover and flywheel will fit. The Pork chop parts are getting rare though. Stilll have it? It may be a 303 or 301 engine. No way to tell but better as better porting with 303 best as the flywheel has weights which can be added and taken off.
-
Well looking at the piccies you have some work to do. The stator is a quite rare ducati stator which is good. One on ebay.de for 60 euros. The seller doesnt know if its good and cant use a multimeter! Dooh!!! The plate is not buggered like yours though. The flywheel and cover are VERY rare. Hope you have them. The damage to the crannkcases and fins can be repaired, I wouldnt bother with the fins. Try that southampton man that many bad mouth.
The frame has been chair modded so I hope its straight.....get the grinder out. Sumpguard no probs as per pm. Also Flywheel cover new in plastic.
The forks are 301 I think so look for 300 bottoms or make an adapter. You cse 240 brake and front wheel also, it doesnt have to be 300. 300 Brake is better though.
have fun

I would love to try your bike sometime!
-
boost bottles were very common in the eighties. i had then on a DT50, DT175 and Suzuki X5
made no diffence at all but made me feel FAST
dont bother
-
I love the motor, and dont like the frame...shocks stick into my fat little legs.
Hence the 340 was born...240 chassis with 300 motor.....I like them alot.
There were close to 25k 240s made. I have no idea how may 300s but I guess less than half.
As the engines are virtually the same up to the last 303s, spares are easily avaible. (300 had motoplat, 301 onwrds ducati ignitions).
The plastic sidepanels are very expensive if you can buy them and the frames are stronger than the 240s. Nice if you can find a good one. Good riders (Phil Wiffen??) are very competitive on them also. The forks were excellent as standard as were the motors and shocks

I have seen that here on a 350 bulto. The screws shear and the tyre is scrap.....not enought screws. All speedway and grass trackers do the same but 5 screws each side is not enough.....
-
Yep two and they will still slip on the rim!
