I compete for fun. Practising is ok but in a competition you HAVE to try it . 3 times ina 3 lap event. I only get better with nerves in a competition. I only get better on technical stuff when really trainingm, ie not playing

i doint think it will last for ever, i dont think it ill last long at all. I use clear car laqueur, lasts about 6 weeks

I think everbody with a pro knows the problem. GG in germany suggested heating the airbox tube to 60 degrees to make it soft!!! Not good.
There was a guy on evil bay in the UK that started making rings for the rear of the delorto. The ring was screwed to the caRb AND EFFECTIFLY MADE IT LOnGER AND GAVE THE AIRBOX HOSE A BETTER SEAT TO FIT TO: i THINK hEATH HAD SOME ON HIS WEBSITE FOR SALE: opps, caps lock

I know with petrol prices being as they are that the travel budget is strained but if you ride pre65 or a twin shocker here are two dates which may be off interest.
The first weekend of August (2nd/3rd) sees the German Championships move to Engelsberg, which is close to Munich. Free camping etc etc.
One week later, there are two trials which count to the Eurocup in Salzstiegl in Austria. I iknow George Greenland and Joe Howells have ridden both in the past and really liked it. Contact me via a pm for the regs of either

Hi Furse, I think youve got it. The bike is a 240, the engine is from a 303 and the exhaust is a 300. The lack of space means that I needed a 240 inlet stub (small dia) with the std dellorto. As the pwk ius slimmer, I fitted a 301 inlet and the carby is angled slightly to the left to avoid the 300 exhaust pipe. The float is ok, not catching and set right, but the angle to the side might be causing the problem.
I need to moddify the exhaust slightly...where is my ball pane hammer!!!!

There are quite a few maico trials bikes here in cabbage land. In the uk, the mod ordered Can-Ans for the army. Over here they were sachs or maico. I will try and find some pictures to post if yer interested. Have a look on evil bay.de and look for maica. Should be 3-5 bikes always there

Thanks for the info. I put the std dellorto back on and the bike runs fine so I will look at the float.
@spud. Did you fitt modded beta pegs to the 240 yet? Can yer post a detailed piccies or two?

hi Nitro,
a ty mono is a good place to start but dont buy it on ebay without seeing first. take a grown up with, er sorry, take somene who knows what they are looking at. 600 quid should be ok. Maybe just get some practice or follow a trial round to start with. if you really do not know how rthe clutch gears etc work, then start on a flat field without rocks and things to ride into. Move on from there. A Techno is also good but is more lively compared to a ty 250 i think.
Just for info. A 125/200 modern bike would be very suitable for a beginner also.

After reading Glenns rave review of the Classic trial OKO setup on his 240, I took my old pwk 28 keihin from a 300 raga out and put it on my 340.
I made an adapter ring out of alu first and fitted the std airhose. The main jet was 130 and the pilot 30. The bike would only run if the pilot jet was nearly fully screwed in, ie no air. The jet was too small. I then went to 36 which allowed it to run but the screw was max 1/2 turn out. More than that and it would die when revved off idle. The main jet was too small at 130 so I went to 150 which was too rich...it would not rev out and chocked up. It is now on 38 pilot and 138 main but still is not perfect.
My biggest problem is not the jetting but the total performance. Whilst the jetting needs refining, the carb shows a a problem when hitting steps or dropping the sumpguard on to stones or rocks. In either case, it weakens off very badly, in some cases it will gag and need a second or too to pickup. In others it will cut out, but immediatly restart on the next kick.
I have heard of some problems of the float catching on the overfow tube etc. Anyone point me in the right direction?

all fwd kick frt sprocket shafts are the same. 301 will fit a 303, 305 etc etc. Rear is the same as a section I think. That maybe the same as a beta? Not sure

I got two made up over here. Not cheap and without the bottom part but works well. Same dia as std with std trumopet, although the guy now has a program to turn the trumpets. I paid the equivilent of 100 each

I run 10/43 as I like to use 2nd and 3rd alot. try changing the gearing if you have the chance.
I take the ferry overnight which arrives in hull on sat morning. I will be camping in a tent the sat and sun night. I have never ridden there but have been told its agreat event

I have borrowed my wifes seat alhambra. Same as old galaxy and vw sharan. Great diesel engines. If you take all the seats out which is a pain to0 do and fold the handlebars down a bit, 2 bikes fit easily. might get three in but i never tried it

All are thripped? Maybe through holes as above. if not put helicoils in. will work ok if you keep em tight

All fwd kick fantics have 500cc oil. use any oil!!!!! I use ATF with very good results. A good semi or full synthetic 5W30 or 5W40 is ok. I would not recommend Hypoid oils like w80 or ep 90 though. The clutch will slip when cold with ALL oils.
