It may be impossible to achieve 100,000 names, but i've gone and set up a e-petition on the reinstated No10 website.
even if it doesnt reach its target it might get our plight noticed more.

spread the word.
got a little question on the ariel subject.
does anyone know who had the stand right at the far end of the far hall on the right at wrightys show who was selling quite nicely made ariel ally tanks for a reasonable price?
they seemed to have had the same location at the show for the last 2 years running?
i remember it from tmx. it looked well put together. 2k isnt too bad for a one off. these sorts of bikes are only going to go up in value.
just look at pre 65 bikes now. some prices are now bordering on ridiculous!
results are now up on the poachers website.
it was a good trial like all the other northern bike rounds.
its just getting a bit annoying now how some riders just sit around waiting for the sections to ease. thats not in the spirit of the sport.
i set off in the middle of the pack and still managed to finish first.
i suggest they start to scrutinise the time limits as the do set the riders off in a timed order.
most of these trials take around 4 hours to do. but some riders are taking much longer than that.
havent seen any yet. i keep checking the poachers, yorkshire classic and south liverpool websites but nothing yet.
i remember they took a while last year.
i've actually heard of a mechanic friend of mine that he suspects even modern cars will soon be having problems due to the ethanol content.
recent finding have found that even materials that where thought to be ethanol safe actually degrade too.
i wouldnt have minded as much if they'd have announced that the where introducing it into unleaded but they didnt. they just sneaked it in and one by one my bikes have been damaged.
surely there is something we can do about it?
not another victim of the dreaded ethanol in petrol rotting your tank.
how much more damage is going to be done before we start to seek compensation?
it currently stands me at
i realised just recently with the new laws on insurance, that when i bought a bike in 2008 and sent off the sorn notification paperwork for it after getting the log book back in my name i never received anything back off them.
then every year i've sent off a sorn form to cover this. ive still never had any confirmation back.
so last week i contacted the dvla. told them about it and when they checked their records they deemed the bike "off road" anyway as it had not been taxed for so long.
they also said they had ignored my sorn applications because of this.
i asked if they would not update their records to state it was sorn and they said they couldnt.
its a rather grey area now on this. i've done all i can on it. if they try fining me for anything its them in the wrong and not me.
ever since the introdution of the rev 3 there has been many problems with all models and their stators.
having experienced it myself and a few friends bikes i wouldnt ever have another.
shame because they where great bikes and the new evo is yet another on going development of what effectively was the ground breaking beta zero of the early 90's.
i had a brand new 1997 one and it didnt come with a manual other than for the piaoli forks.
great bike though, i do miss it.
just be careful with the thermostat sensor. they where forever breaking and then the fan wouldnt kick in and it would boil like a kettle. a way around it was to bypass the switch and have the fan on constantly.
i guess it was a good one lee? i had to miss it due to home improvements that couldnt be ignored. shame it ended up only two days too. hopeflly it'll be back to three days next year.
yes my kickstart has done that too on my o4 one. its broken through the laquer and has made a right mess.
the kickstart does seem to click in which means there must be a ballbearing and spring, but it seems to go past further and flap about against the tank. possibly just wear amd tear.
still it give me the oppotunity to have a tank paint job and bling up the old gal!
Sounds like your floats been penetrated with fuel like mine did the other week.
Amal now do a black float thats the same spec as the MOD bike carbs which are designed to withstand any dodgy type of fuel.
i've replaced them all with these now as i dont want another event spoiling with carb trouble.
this current new fuel is playing hell with my bikes.
firstly two of my bikes that have fibreglass fuel tanks have been gumming up and have left a polished residue surface in the carbs. which i am being told may now be knackered.
so thats two petrol tanks and carbs destroyed.
and now the latest in this saga is that it destroyed the plastic float in my carb too. which ruined my days riding in an event.
i estimate the current cost of damage at around
as i always say year upon year! there is only one winner of the pre65 scottish and that is clive dopson!
to take a 500t rigid around is some feat and is probably the most pre65 bike you can get!
try riding round with clive! the number of stops because of punctures is unbelievable.
well actually its not really!
Having been a back marker a few times collecting the score books I can tell you that there are still plenty of hours of day light left to increase the entry numbers. It could so easily be boosted up to 250. One thing I have noticed in the past is the time limits seem to be a bit large. If these where tightened up then maybe this would speed things up.
That and hurry up the riders who love to wait around till the sections become easier. I still cannot fathom out how a top flight classic rider who set off before me, lagged around behind me and finished at least half an hour after I did still didn't get penalised on mark and I did. After a fewf technical problems I finished about five minutes late. Still some have all the luck.
it will also be very interesting to see which "usual suspects" have got a ride yet again. looking back a the last 19 years there are at least 20 riders with 100% entry success rate!
as say. year upon year more and more are giving up on the event. its ok now but if it carries on it could end up ruining the event in future years.
well another year and another dissapointment.
this time though a feeble excuse of my entry being received 3 days after the closing date. ha! with all the backlog of post especially going north of the border this has to be the lamest excuse ever. surely a extra week or so extension would have been commonplace with other events.
year upon year i talk to fellow riders who always struggle to get a ride and as more and more these riders get fed up of this they are not even bothering to try and enter anymore.
these are the week in week out pre65 riders who keep classic trials alive and well up and down the country.
having helped and supported the pre65 scottish way back since 1992 i feel seriously let down and i am not the only one.
if this carries on the way its going i can only really see another decade before it falls foul of more and more dissapointed riders who give up with the even and loose interest in it altogther.
and it would be a shame to loose such an historic even.
the forks should be 5W oil & 200cc in each leg.
i got this info from john lampkin imports. as for a manual i've been on the lookout for one too and still not come across one. they're either very rare or where never made.
Trials throughout the years have had its fair share of villians! remember bruno cammozi back at hawkstone park in 1996 (i think!) being rather rude to some observers. strange thing was he was a perfect gentleman at our section and when he'd fived it he just rode out and carried on. unlike some of the british riders who would swear to high heaven that they'd not dropped a five!
