They are obviously past there use by date, don't mess about, get some new made. I had some for my Jampots & never looked back. The AJS & Matchless Owners Club are very good, failing that send a sample to a spring manufacturer, can't remember who did mine.
You will need the free spring length, I'll have a look in my parts book, might be in there, what year is it?

Very well done to all of 'em.

Check out Dave Thornber in Stanningley Rd, Armley end. Panther man. Think he was number 60 or 70 something, stone house close to the end of the dual carriageway. Havn't seen him for years, if he is still doing it he will sort ye barrel.
If ye find his phone number can ye post it here as I'v lost it.

Sounds like a rear wheel, you need more than one in the rear although one is probably plenty for the front.

The brake arm needs to be at 90 degrees to the cable to be most efficient, turn it slightly on the cam spindle. If the brake is binding check the cam spindle is free to rotate & return in the brake plate, also the cable inner is not binding/dragging in the outer. Skim the lip off the drum or you will always have a lump of slack. Correct way to do it is with the drum off the rim but that gets expensive. What sort of adjustment do you have? Shims?

No attachment! Give me an old bike any day!
I'll try again, if it doesn't work my book quotes 210 main & 30 pilot.

Hi Geoff, if Dave has done ye magneto it will be right.
Some carb settings attached, Monobloc first used on and#39;55 models (after Aug and#39;54), prior to that they were side mount float chambers.
The and#39;55 settings should be near enough, looking at the jet sizes I think I would experiment with something a bit bigger.
I understand Mono & Concentric sizes are the same.

350 or 500 cc? Iron barrel road engine or ally comp engine? What size carb have you got? What month was it registered, mine is reg '53 but '54 model.

Guisbrough is good, but when I was a member access for practice was very restricted, weekend & one evening plus bank hol's, S'boro is a bit of a drag but available anytime if you purchase a key, unless there's an event on. A good site to practice on.
Check the current details.
Don't know about Croft.

I had the old Berlingo & was quite impressed with it, looking for another. My mate has a Berlingo van (same body shell) & carries a 350 Norton trials bike diagonally OK. Can't remember how the back seats fold (you may have to take 'em out) but assuming you have a modern bike I'm sure it would fit.
Berlingos come in 1600 D with 90 HP or 130 HP engines, can be quite quick but don't have sports car handling. Can't have the best of both worlds in that price league.

To anneal any solid copper item, I do solid copper head gaskets on the ould bikes, ye need to hang 'em from a loop of wire in order to get to cherry red right through, then quench the item immediately in cold water. You have inadvertently put hard washers back on.

Being in M'bro (I'm in Eaglescliffe) look up the web sites for Guisborough Motor Club, who have there own practice ground at Charltons & cater for kids, & Richmond Motor Club who have training days & cater for kids. Why not get the best of both worlds.
Scarborough Motor Club has its own practice ground at Harwood Dale but that's a bit of a hike to go regularly from M'boro.

I run a 500 single AJS which has the same clutch with a couple of extra plates, it was rebuilt & set up correctly years ago & has had a lot of stick two up around the Yorkshire Dales, Durham Dales etc. Can't fault it. Stick with it.

Bet the guy who put that up has a degree!!

VMCC South Durham have a trial at Underbanks next week, I'v lost the contact numbers. Go on the web & use the "contact us" box, David is the Sec, Roy will be running the trial.

Can't help with scrambles, assumed you were after a trials bike. If you fit odd pistons don't forget to get the crank rebalanced to suit.

Why build one, buy one. Introduced in late '63 as road model, G80 & late '55 as comp model, G80 CS. Failing that get a 350 long stroke & build a 410 cc using short stroke piston. Described as "pulls & rev's".

If using a pick up don't overlook getting a load of road salt on ye bikes in the winter. Power washer job as soon as ye get home. As I found out the hard way!
-
I agree. Sort points & timing. Only bikes I know that ran like that were manual ignition on retard in long slippery sections. My Cub never performed like that.

Do some serious homework before you try welding Magnesium, I suspect this is the stuff that flares up on you when it gets hot!

Google "ACU Trials", you will find some ladies results in "Archives" under "August '14". Keep looking & youth should come up. Check before the year end as they seem to chuck 'em away when displaying the calender for the new year. Try Andy's idea for the full results.

Get a plain lens pair like I did. Focused at about 6' to 8' they go to infinity, or there about's, at least they did for me. I tried progressive lens's & they were torture.

I used to carry a Tiger Cub on the back of a Metro, similar situation? Never attracted any adverse attention. But use a lighting board with number plate.
