  1. Hi ive recently fitted some bar risers to my 315 and it feels much better than stock, my problem now is that the throttle cable is about 25mm too short, can anyone tell me where i can get a longer throttle cable from? or any other ideas? ive tried routing the cable every possible way but its just not going to work.
  2. Are they a direct bolt on item or will I need to do some modification to the bike or carb?
  3. hi ive just stripped the tank off my mont to give it a good service, and ive notice there are 2 pipes coming out of the left spar of the frame, one pipe goes just under the reed block and the other one isnt connected to anything. the only nipple i can see that it could possibly connect to is one in the generator housing? is this correct or am i blind and missing something? haha
  4. while on with the carb subject ive heard of some people changing the carb for a Keihin carb, is this correct? if so does anyone know what the carb model number is and if it is worth doing?

Hi larry to be honest im not 100% sure what had caused it, when i stripped it it had had water in the crank case at some point, but the idiot i bought the bike from had tried to cover it all up by filling the crank case with old engine oil, and filed the barrel and piston smoth where it had siezed and basically tried shafting me. believe it or not that sounded sweet when i went to view the bike it just smoked a bit. it wasnt until i rode it for the first time it burnt all the old oil off and sounded like it was going to throw a rod any monute. shes all healthy now though had a complete rebuild with new everything. well worth the hassle best trials bike ive owned.

Hi ive been out on my mont today and noticed its started to hunt on tick over, it starts first or second kick every time and seams to have bags of power and runs great, but 2 people have said to me today that the ignition timing is out when they were sat at the side of my bike when on tick over. can the timing be adjusted on a 315? if so how do i set it?   7. i had the same issues when i rebuilt my monty motor, i bought a complete piston and barrel kit from feetup trials and it wasnt expensive, he does the barrels on an exchange basis, so take or post your barrel with piton to him and he will exchange it for a new/replated barrel with new piston, rings and small end with gaskets and anything else you may need for the build. if you need any advice on building give me a pm im more than happy to help you out where ever possible.

  9. I had the exact same issue with mine, the main bearings were completely shot, bought everything from feet up I think it cost about £350-£400 including new barre.l
  10. Hi everyone, I've come from riding a beta Rev 3 to my montesa 315r and it's the best move ever. The only issue seams to be the riding possition, the rev3 had loads of room as I'm quite tall, and the montesa seams shorter and lower, my first thought was handlebar riser blocks but due to the design of the top yoke this would make the problem worse. My question is has anyone else had a similar problem? If so what did you do to rectify this? Are higher bars a good option?

  12. hi everyone my silencer on my 2002 Monty 315 has seen better days and im looking at getting either a new one or a good second had one, can anyone recommend anyone who is likely to have one? or is there any aftermarket replacements that is still as quiet as the stock silencer? thanks rich

  14. Gear oil now changed to castrol gear oil, fingers crossed this should fix the problem if not new plates
  15. Thanks for the advice guys, so is it just the steel plates I need to change or the full clutch? Also I've heard of people running ATF in monty's with no problems, I'm not not really clued up on gear oils, will any good quality light gear oil do? The only reason I'm asking is I have an account with castrol and get it at cost.

Hi everyone, I've now got my Monty all built up and the engine is sweet, the only issue now is the clutch seams to drag and the bite is a little snatchy and unpredictable, I've adjusted the lever, it's running on ATF, What I did notice when I rebuilt the engine one of the steel plates had some discolouration as if it had been hot? Has anyone got any known fixes for these clutches? Do monty clutches feel as nice as my beta clutch? Thanks in advance

  18. I think my only option is to bite the bullet fix it and get some enjoyment out of it, I don't think there will be enough parts on the bike to break and recoup anywhere near what I paid. I've spoken to Alan from feet up today, really helpful guy so all been well should have the parts this week
  19. i totally agree, ive spoken to the gut via text i havnt complained about the other bodges on the bike or that the jets were loose in the carb, i basically want the full cost of parts or at least some contribution and ive said i will build the motor myself to save a little, but hes basically said no. im trying to reason with the guy but hes just not interested in the slightest.
  20. hes denying all knowledge and said it was a good bike when he sold it to me, but i agree he knows it was shot, you can see the piston has been tampered with and how else would a litre of 4stroke engine oil get into the crank case. this is a vid of the main bearings before i stripped the engine

  22. the description of the bike reads, the pictures are taken today 2 days after purchase. ive been stung. but i guess not everyone is genuine, if anyone does have any engine parts for sale please PM me. 2002 Montesa 315 R 250cc Trials Bike. I have owned this bike for 2 years and its been used a handful of times due to my working commitments, hence my reason for sale. It is ready to ride and needs nothing doing to use it. Any inspection welcome. Forks are in good order , no leaks. Engine starts up and runs nice. Chain & sprockets are good. Tyres are like new. Brakes are good. In very good condition for the nature of the sport but the bike does have some minor wear & tear,as to be expected. Bike is also road registered and I have the V5 Logbook as proof of ownership.   23. ive pulled the cylinder off and the coating is flaking in places, ill add some pics. the piston is showing signs of seizure at some point, these have recently been rubbed up by the previous owner. i think the guy new what he was selling as the engine was full of dirty 4 stroke engine oil, to reduce the knocking. WHAT A COCK
