  2. I certainly would. In fact I ride a Jotagas 300 which is the BEST modern bike I have ridden so far.
  3. Sod's Law. I was just reading that this morning.
  4. Forgot about Lincoln Club http://website.lineone.net/~lincolnmotorsport/
  5. Haven Trialsport run a practice ground in a Wood at Hatcliffe https://www.facebook.com/haven.trialsport/?fref=ts Trials park/zone up here in North East Lincolnshire will be open all over the christmas period and unlike last winter, you can drive in and park up now without getting muddy tyres! £15 per day or £150/200 for the year (phone 01472 236117) And we have toilet facilities (no central heating though!)
  6. North Lincs Pre-65 & Twin shocks but they allow modern bikes with no championship points. Run some GOOD trials https://www.facebook.com/northlincsclassicmotorcycleclub/?fref=ts Scunthorpe Club run trials around Lincolshire https://www.facebook.com/scun.mcc?fref=ts
  7. Lipos lose voltage when cold. So do NOT charge cold and take them into a warm room/car/van. Use a storage charge when storing and check the voltage on a regular basis. If the cells drop too low, they may be damaged and fail to charge,
  8. I have used Lipos for Radio Control Helicopters & Aeroplanes for several years. The ONLY batteries I have had that have gone up in flames have been due to a CRASH. What charger do you use? I use a Revolextric Charger and charging and discharging balances all my 3 & 6 cell Lipos. I always charge at 1 C. This means if I were charging your 10C Lipos it would be 8 amps at 1C. The other thing that has an effect on Lipos is the Discharge rate ie. C rating. The Lipos you linked are 10C rating which isn't very much. I use 35/40 C on my Helicopters and 20/25 C on my Aeroplanes, But of course it depends on the Motor power drawing current from the batteries. I also use a Parallel Charging board which helps to balance all the cells in all the Lipos I charge at the same time:- http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__28273__Hobbyking_Parallel_Charge_Board_For_6_Packs_2_6S_EC5_.html
  9. Hi Roger. I have just come back to Trials after a 30 year absence from bikes altogether. Quite a few clubs run Learner/Easy Trials which I have been attending. One of those clubs just happens to be the Bradford Club:- http://www.bradfordtrials.com/index.php?/index Bradford Club Easy Trial last Sunday riding my son's 2003 GG 250 after I broke the gearbox on my 2013 Jotagas 300 :-
  10. I have to agree with that. But I don't agree that the Ossa MAR would tootle along on a small throttle. The ONLY bike I ever had that did that was the Bultaco 325 & 350, hence the reason I loved them. But I much prefer the modern hydraulic clutch & brakes on my JTG300.
  11. My son managed to get in contact with MRS who said it should be around 145psi, so close to your 150psi copemech. Thank you. My son thought it was down on power and suggested new rings. MRS say perhaps RIngs & Piston. It's my wifes Sherco we have just bought for her. I have a Jotagas 300. I've been away from bikes since 1983, so thought the 125 had plenty of power, though not like the JTG.
  12. Hi there. Can anyone tell me the pressure rate for the compression on the 2008/9 125 please? It currently reads 45psi.
  13. Hi just seen your post. Not advertised on here, but it is for sale on fleabay
  14. Thanks for the replies. I find the JTG 300 smooth and responsive when you need or want the power. Not snappy at all. The JTG is also the lightest and agile bike I have ridden so far. BTW. I am 72 this year.
  15. I was just wondering if anyone had ridden both a JTG 300 and a JTG 280 to compare performance? I have a 2013 JTG 300 with 2014 & 2015 updates including 2015 mapping. All standard as far as I know including fast action throttle. Just to say I LOVE the JTG 300. What would the 2014 JTG 280 be like in comparison?
  16. I don't know whether it is after market ot not, but I just got one from MHB and it is steel instead of aluminium:- SUPPORT STAND JT – 0102122 - SOPORTE CABALLETE JT MHB Motorcycles Unit 2c-2d Brough industrial estate Kirkby Stephen Cumbria CA17 4AY Phone 017683 42538 Mobile 07921062179
  17. I couldn't agree more. I started back on a Trials bike in 2013 at the age of almost 70 for a few rides after 30 years of NOT riding ANY motorcycle of any kind. Second ride on the 2007 Sherco 290 in 2013 -
  18. Just a point. I don't know whether in this day and age it will be the same? But back in the late 70s and early 80s, we used to have the cylinders done with nikasil after they had seized on our 700 and 750 Yamaha 4 cyclinder 2 stroke sidecar motors. The problem was that they took a LOT of running in to bed them in with new pistons and rings. By which time the rings needed changing again. If you didn't take care running them in, they seized. BUT, the best engine we had was built out of 2 separate non seized but run in 350 twin barrels to make the 700 4 cyclinder. What a motor that was.
  19. I recently tried to check on the SORN of my Motorhome and this was the result:- It may be of use to explain that as a result of the Road Transport Red Tape Challenge, the legislation affecting Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) was changed from 16/12/2013. The new legislation means that once the registered keeper of the vehicle has notified DVLA that their vehicle is on a SORN declaration, they will no longer have to renew their SORN annually. Any SORN declaration expiring after the 16/12/2013 has now been made indefinite and the registered keeper will not receive any future V11 Renewal reminders. I have checked our record and can confirm that the SORN for this vehicle has been extended. Your SORN declaration will remain valid until the vehicle is re-taxed, sold, permanently exported or scrapped. Continuous Registration Enforcement still applies. If a SORN declaration is not made and the vehicle is untaxed, the vehicle keeper could be liable to receive a penalty. All vehicle records are checked automatically and if there is no current tax or SORN in force, action is taken automatically from the record. The legislation that covers SORN is the Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing Regulation 2002 schedule 4) In regards to the V5C Registration Certificate you are using, the Electronic Vehicle Licensing (EVL) system was unable to detect the vehicle details as an invalid reference number from a V5C was entered. I should advise the EVL system will only recognise the most recently issued V5C document reference number.
  20. Hi Sherpa 325. You missed the point. I personally don't want to lose power. In the past (over 30 years ago) I always wanted MORE. After having ridden OSSA 250 MAR, 2 versions of Yamaha 250 MAR, Montesa 125 and Bultaco 250. It was a revelation when they brought out the Whispering Wonder the Bultaco 325. It could pull an higher gear and keep chugging on whereas the 250s, especially the Yams had to be revved. Nowadays that wouldn't be a problem because of the new Hydraulic clutches which make control that much easier. I actually asked all those years ago, about fitting a Fast action Throttle like those fitted to Moto X. I was told I would kill myself. The modern bikes are more tractable in any size due to being lighter and easier to handle with the clutch and brakes being so nice. In the OLD days, half the time the brakes wouldn't work after going through any water and the clutch required you to be a contender for World's Strongest man.
  21. Perhaps I am a little out of the ordinary or just a crazy old FOOL? But it always amazes me that people buy a 270/280/290/300 or even a 250 and want to soften the Throttle response and calm it down a lot with slow action Throttle and Flywheel weights. WHY? I last rode a Trials bike back in 1983. It was a Comerfords Ex-works Bultaco 350. I rode last year (2013) for the first time in 30 years a Honda XR 100 after which my son bought me a 2005 Sherco 290. It took a few rides for me to mostly get used to the soft action hydraulic clutch and front brake compared to the OLD style CABLE items. I absolutely LOVED it. However, he sold it this year (2014) and bought me a 2007/8 Scorpa 250 which was absolutely RUBBISH. So I went and bought myself a 2013 Gas Gas 250 Txt Pro. Although it rode like a new bike, I still missed that extra grunt of the Sherco 290. But I shall keep trying it next year. BTW. I am now 71 years old.
