    4rt Photos

Ham posting photos of montesa's will not fix your main bearings, get your backside in that garage lad
  2. Whats Ross doing next year full british champ ? junior WTC ? what size bike ?
  3. I think people are right to dismiss getting proper Trials on TV, it just doesnt make good TV. I went to the World Round in Andorra the other weekend, I had a great time and watched some utterly fantastic riders in action. Then last night I watched the highlights on eurosport, it was pants ! It may be the fault of eurosport but the gradient of the hazards and the general severity of the sections just isnt conveyed. We get impressed that they can balance a bike anywhere but on tv its just a guy standing still if your the man in the street. The obstacles the top guys rode up and over were frightening, and wasnt all steps by the way. These people balance on a gradient i was having trouble standing on and then just calmly pull away. Try and balance your bike with both wheels facing uphill, its very difficult but TV doesnt and cant convey that. I think neosurge is correct to say we should stop worrying about it, lets watch the WTC while we can even if only us trials people like it. If it survives great if it doesn't then some of the issues may get resolved. I've said previously any factory directing all of their resources into one rider is wasting their time based on what I saw in Andorra. Bou is going to win, the rest are making up the numbers. But the factories may get better exposure out of having more riders in that huge truck which is transporting perhaps one or two bikes (honda excluded of course)
  4. Years ago the Britsh Champioship was as slapshot is describing, big nationals like the cleveland, jack wood, colmore, wye valley traders etc. The point people seem to forget is that it wasnt working any longer in that format. I first rode these events in 86, by the time we got to 1991/92 the trials were way too hard for the bulk of the entry and the trial was being spoilt to cater for the top 5 - 10 riders. as an example the Travers was a championship round in 1992, Rob Crawford won on about 30 and I remember Paul Rose commenting at the end it had been too hard and I think he was in the points. I lost 130 marks and finished 29th or 30th, i was way outside my comfort zone, i think i had a couple of cleans and the rest were 3's and 5's. Did I enjoy my day ? did the people who finished behind me enjoy their day ?? And the top riders wanted it harder still as the gap between this type of event and a world round was still too big. enter the british champioship in its current format If you think your going to mark out trials that will deal with the range of ability from my standard up to Graham Jarvis I think your only kidding yourself. Half of the expert class would probably not enjoy a day on the chamionship route where Jarvis is dropping 20 marks, what chance have those that find the expert course too much ? who outside the current expert and championship class riders would enter anyway ??
  5. Do Bennets provide cover for taking part in a trial ? I was insured during events until Protectabike wrote to me and said that they werent offering to renew, I now need a new policy for my sherco and I dont see the point in taking out a normal road policy which explicitly states it doesn't cover reliability trials
  6. Is it definitely not going to run next year ? we were beiginning to organise a trip from the North East as a few of us fancied riding where would I get regs from if it does run again and what do you need to do to take your bike on the road in France ?
  7. I never used an 801 Ham but I didnt think much of the 803. YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE also tested the 803 in the first edition and said the michelin was a much better tyre.
  8. Out of the crate the 07 290 is too far advanced, just my view but mine kicked back terribly and would also try and go into reverse when at the point of stalling. I used copemechs diagram (see earlier posts) and retarded timing about 5mm. In the standard position the bike was just too peaky for me with a real step in the power at 1/4 throttle. Retard the timing and go back to the standard carb, also lower the needle clip one notch from standard. The keihin gives more middle and top end power which by the sounds of it is the last thing you need. Boyesen reeds also give more power so leave them alone till you get the hang of it.
  9. They dont squeal too bad, I was out today and dont recall them squealing at all but maybe i've just learnt to blank it out !
  10. I put new Goldfren pads in the sherco front and back before ssdt. Back ones got changed on the Saturday night at Reeth 3 day, front ones are still in. Suggest you are riding with it on or you have damaged the disc ? terrain makes a difference though its mainly rocky streams where I ride so dont use it much.
  11. Thats 10 pages but should we kill this one as none of us are sherco virgins........ ?
  12. Mine does that addict despite removing rim tape and applying silicone to every spoke which has always worked in the past. I applied soapy water to the wheel to find where it was coming from and its actually the seal between the tyre and the rim thats leaking very slightly. I think probably a tyre thats slightly out of spec. I'll find out when I fit the next new one !
  13. sorry but your being thick look on the front page below the latest forums section and you 'll see the latest adverts, look under the community tab and you'll see a link to classified ads
  14. Do the keihins drip fuel like the much loved mikuni on the Beta ? cant believe virtually the same engine as my 290 only does 15 miles to a tank. unless all your sections are graded hill climbs ? just thought, the petrol tap leaked on mine, are you sure yours isnt ?
  15. I never ran out at the ssdt, not even close. The keihin must guzzle the petrol compared to the Dellorto
  16. Banning Belgium or perhaps SPA or whoever I would be in favour of for the event being cancelled. However as discussed elsewhere who wants to take their place ?
  17. Boyesens do seem to have made difference to how high it revs and now I have a bigger pilot jet in the dellorto (34 instead of 33) it seems a lot more responsive generally, like it picks up a little bit quicker, theres not weak spot and it reves higher. Copemech / Addict, cheers I wont be spending
  18. What does it smell like ? You will be able to smell the oil if its a crank seal and it will be blue rather than white smoke . I once rebuilt a carb but left the pilot jet on the bench, it started but blew clouds of smoke out of the back. now I thought I was the only person daft enough to do this..................
  19. Ive got a new shape one . If you take the cage out of the back you can get two bikes in, I manage every weekend with a 4rt and a sherco. 1st bike put the front wheel between the seats a little and back wheel in the corner (drivers side), second bike goes in backwards an putr some lock on to get the door shut. easy and a great little van
  20. On the bright side that should see Belgium dropped from organising WTC events for a couple of years.......... wonder if anyone fancies running a world round in england/scotland/wales then we could have two british rounds like the old days wahey !
  21. Put the boyesens in today, the bike feels bit quicker but today wasnt a good day for learning to play with more power. Had to take the mixture screw out as it was running a bit weak at first, might try a bigger pilot jet. With the rain today was vey muddy , lots of third gear stuff. Might be able to tell better when I get on some rocks.
  22. No but they have made it to the bench in the garage. Intend to fit them tomorrow and ride local trial on sunday. have you got an ohlins yet addict ? surprised you have lowered gearing ?
  23. Watched "mountain" on BBC 1 last sunday which was based largely in Fort William, when are the regs out for next year !?
  24. No it was 1990, it was actually on grandstand that year. The 1991 WTC round was at Houghton Tower, I think it was the first time Colley scored points
  25. buy it in 5 litre bottles works out cheaper plus your using much more than necessary, i get at least five washes to a litre
