  1. Go back to the vice on the bench, put some timber in either side of the tyre ( so its just below the rim on one side and against the rim on the other). then compress in the vice, easy ! as for driving a van / truck over your wheel, rather you than me mate when you refit the tyre either a cycle tube or the YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE beader will work. I find it easier if you take the valve core out as well. normally you'll be putting the wheel back in the bike when you notice you have put the tyre back on the same way round !!
  2. steps steps steps They can be spectacular to watch, and getting up one when your not convinced you can is one of the best feelings in trials. BUT people also are more likely to be hurt on them, a little bit of fear is fun but everyone has a limit. In my experience of setting out trials you can never take marks off the top guys with big steps, but you can spoil everyone elses day. The technical tight section or the slippy bankside or river will take marks off everyone but nobody generally gets hurt, no bikes get broken and the top guys loose marks. so make your pro class harder just dont make it too daunting, its normally the turns that take the marks anyway as given sufficient run up a capable rider will get up most things.
  3. I've never checked it on my 06 but I have been informed that the noise is off the primary gear (end of crank to clutch basket). its a straight cut gear which reduces drag but is more noisey. my TYZ's made the same noise and will presumeably have had the same set up.

    Gasgas

Dont know when this actually changed and stopped becoming an issue. In the 70's UK bikes had metal tanks whilst everyone else in europe got plastic. If you can remember montesas used to have an ally tank under a fiberglass cover. Nowadays its not really a problem as most vehicles have plastic tanks anyway ( i think the latest transits do for example). So I dont hink you need a metal tank for an MOT any longer
  5. still cant get my head round the God riding trials bit really, still he should be able to sort DEFRA out anyway. My mrs will go ballistic when she gets to heaven and is asked to observe....
  6. GOD ???? how come God doesn't know the answer to this, I thought God created everything, including Scorpas obviously
  7. I have a jap spec 06 scorpa and I let a mate with a standard one try mine yesterday. He liked the additional power but didn't think it gripped as well as his. However I didnt like his standard one either as it didnt pick up quickly enough so i was opening the throttle to late to get up things. We decided we'd both keep the bikes we had. What problem are you trying to solve by changing your bike ?
  8. Only other place I know of is Castleside Quarry on the A68 just north of castleside. People have been going for years on an unofficial basis. The police occasionally move motocrossers on but ive never been stopped myself. Its about time the clubs got together and bought somewhere but finding the right location and getting the planning sorted out is difficult
  9. Anyone know if the entry forms are out for the Cleveland yet ?
  10. Ive got an 06 scorpa and an 05 GAS GAS wheel goes straight in, you only need to change the sprocket. GG disc will work without modification.
  11. Have you tried observing the FIM rules ? its far to complex unless you observe every week and can remember it all. I think the FIM rules are too complex, you should get a five for moving the bike sideways when stationary as well but this happens all the time and depending on the observer can be recorded as a clean, a one or a five. Back to no stop is easier for the observers and makes for better trials in my view if the course plotters take the no stopping rule into account (so that you can ride round the turns rather than hop).
  12. Offer will be there come October whatever you decide
  13. Perce what counts as a valid attempt ? I'm quite happy to sponsor the pair of you but going to the CB on the road from the start field doesn't count as an attempt ! Last time I rode it was five petrol checks, if its still the same and you both enter as individuals I'll give you
  14. I dont think swm made a mono, armstrong and aprillia made monos with rotax engines though
  15. Did you take the clutch basket off ? It may be that its chipped a tooth on the idle gear (between the back of the clutch basket and the kstart gear). This gear is in mesh all the time so it may explain why there is no adverse performance. A couple of my pro's have done it.
  16. ssdt entry list has him down as Beta and its in this weeks TMX, when was the last time TMX was first with the news...?
  17. I might be wrong but I think if you grind the base of the barrel your ports will line up correctly as the top of the piston is 5mm lower wherever it is in the barrel ? 5mm is a lot though. You could try talking to Nigel Birkett or Shirty as the 270 conversion for the air cooled yams required a similar adjustment as did the short stroke versions, from memory this was only about 2mm.
