Thanks guys. Wire coil is 4.7mm thick. These forks only have the spring in one side so ive found some springs on line from an earlier set of 38mm which had a spring in both sides so I'll try one of them, length is within adjustment range on the fork and wire coil is 4mm
My son only weighs 37kg but these forks are firmer than the tech forks in my TRS
-
Hi does anyone make a softer front fork spring for the Beta 80 Senior ? Its a 38mm Paioli fork.
-
Ah now we haven't mentioned colour before, ours is black ! I'd also say its longer as its more difficult to re fit. Having said that I doesnt get re fitted very often, last couple of months I'm just draining the fuel out of the bowl with the drain bolt. Got away with it, never had a problem since we fitted this carb.
-
I weighed it, it wasnt a guess. ive just removed the same looking weight from my Aprilia TX.
-
CSP for the radiator filler plug, on splatshop website.
-
I dont actually know, never had the flywheel case off yet ?
-
-
Plenty fun to be had with that bike. Had a JT50 as a child but nothing bigger
-
Just swap the wheels between bikes and see if that cures it then at least you know if it's the wheel. If the spacers are in the wrong side the chain alignment would be out I would think?
-
It's not really well done TRS, most modern bikes are the same set up. Certainly Gas Gas have been for years.
-
Good question.
When we lost most of 2001 to foot and mouth I didnt think the dealers would be able to sell new bikes but after a few trials in autumn 2002 people were turning up with 2002 models.
It's a bit a different now as practice places are already opening so a few people will be ready for a new bike come autumn.
Some manufacturers never changed bikes for years, Yamaha, scorpa with Yam engine, 4rt and many others. I'm sure they could convert an unsold 2020 to 2021 spec for not much money. Even if they dont theres nothing like a new bike
-
How did people arrive at their current choice of bike or bikes ?
I bought my TX300 Aprilia twinshock as there aren't many about. For twinshocks I'm not really that keen, it's more the social side of the event and catching up with old friends. So I try to buy bikes I didnt own at the time like the Aprilia.
The TRS I have is my second one, I'd had a few Gas Gas pro's and I still think they are a very good bike but I wanted a change.
I've had Betas before and find them difficult to ride, lots of people ride them well so it's not the bike. Tried a 4rt a couple of times but can't ride them, maybe if I stuck with it but I dont want to spend months learning to ride a new bike.
A Spanish friend recommended a TRS so I tried a 2016 , I liked that and ordered one of the first Raga Reps. I really liked the 2017 Raga so traded up to a 19 Raga last year.

Hi yes it's a Dellorto phbg 21 DS.
Start with the same jets as the standard carb, they fit. This carb has an inlet spigot in front of the slide , presumably for a 2t injection system. Its blanked off on ours.
-
You may well get one not involving a new piston. Apart from smoking badly and oil coming out of the exhaust are there other symptoms ? When a new piston is required the engine will rattle at tick over. If it's not doing that then it doesn't need a piston.
Things to check
Is the float set correctly in the carb
Has it got the right jets in the carb
Is it using gear box oil
How much 2t oil are you mixing with the petrol ?
-
Oil coming out of the exhaust has nothing to do with rings or the piston on a two stroke. Jimmy is correct its either too much oil in the petrol or the crank seals are gone.
If its constantly running at very low rpm it may just need to go for a blast down the road.

Golf is ok , fishing is ok, both individual sports. Trials practice should be ok ?
The NHS can probably cope better with a casualty now than a month ago
-
Exactly, if we dont like it we can post what we do like.

I used to ride a 280 GG, had them for years. I'd fit a 1mm base gasket and a flywheel weight. It still had more go than the 250 and the increased torque suited me. I'm on my second 280 TRS, I have messed around with the needle as they are a little weak out of the box but that's it. No flywheel weight no additional gaskets and I run standard fast throttle as I did on the Gas Gas. Both are great bikes
-
Yes it is but remember on modern bikes the wheel spacers fit inside the bearing then the spindle fits in the spacer. So with the outside spacer removed you can use the lip on the internal spacer between the bearings to knock the opposite bearing out. It's either a 14 or 15mm socket I use.
This is a great system if you have to remove a wheel at a trial as the spacers stay in the wheel rather than rolling down the hill.
-
I miss the days of the world round videos and generally there was more chat about WTC, X Trial etc etc. But there is little to talk about really on the world scene. Not much going on the R+D front so little excitement about bikes.
Shirtys posts used to be good but stopped.
I think maybe the focus of the site and forums has changed ?
All of the above takes time and effort however to keep going.

There is a rose joint for the lower shock mount but its in the linkage where the reiger shock connects . There are two spacers which press into the rose joint, the shock lower fork straddles it. That's how it is on both of my RRs. You can see it on the parts diagram.
-
Huski , the issue is with the rose joint bearing spacers at lower fitting of the shock. These fit inside the the two lower arms of the actual shock, it's an upside down u shape on the lower shock body.
It doesn't matter how tight you clamp that it's not going to stop play if the hole is too big in the spacers. The weight of the bike will cause that free play to re appear quickly. I don't think I would put excessive force through the lower shock body either. Expensive to fix if it cracks.
-
We have had a discussion thread before on wheel bearings, none seem to last very long. I've just got some stainless ones off splatshop but itll be a while till I know if they are any better
-
Yes listened to it last night, it's good.
-
Other brands did that around 2002 so I don't think beta will have waited that long to follow
