  1. Hi, Does anybody have any experience of insuring a trials bike for a road trial for just one day? I have the chance to ride my fathers Enfield in a local road trial (in preparation for the Scottish Pre 65 - where there is the option to purchase road top up insurance with your entry fee). The bike is road reg'd and already insured for the road under my dads policy but obviously just for him. I have a full bike license so assume it should be quite possible, but just wondering if anybody has any experience of doing this and if so through which companies? Will general insurers do this or will I need to approach an off road specialist company? Will it be easier to add me as a named driver on his existing policy for a day? Think his policy is with MSM. Any advice will be very much appreciated, Cheers Scott
  2. For those that are interested, I decided to go for the £42 Ritar batteries from eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400521721845?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_2295wt_1014) These are virtually identical to the original batteries (but £18 cheaper!) and have been brilliant. Improved performance over the originals, which I assume are about 2 years old now so may be a little worn out. May also be because they are 9Ah instead of the original 8Ah. Am left wondering how good the £28 set would have been......might get some just to see....
  3. Nice one, glad it worked out ok. Before I stripped mine I spoke to Oset for some advice and they mentioned it is possible to fit a small seal onto the motor output shaft (maybe needed a modified end plate, can't remember exactly) so hopefully they'll be doing this on the bikes they build from now on! I bought replacement bearings with rubber shields to help protect them (although this doesn't help the motor!). Scott
  4. Son has a second hand 12.5. After a couple of months the motor sounded really 'grumbly'. Maybe because chain had been over tensioned. I managed to strip the motor and replace the two bearings (cost about a tenner for two good quality bearings plus a few hours). Not too hard, just be wary of the very strong magnets. You're obvious sounds a lot worse, but you've got nothing to loose!
  5. Hi, my son managed to outlast the batteries on his 12.5 Oset yesterday so I'm considering getting him some spare ones. These are the options I have:- (i) ones from Oset, say they are 8Ah, can see from the picture they are Ritar brand for
