  1. Ok update! clutch was slipping and slipping badly, thats why there was alot of clutch drag, this montesa 315r was hard to tell or spot the clutch slipping (not like gas gas while trucking along you can hear and feel it slipping) the monty just reved up a bit but it took someone watching the back wheel to see if it spun out but it didnt, so went online and bought a clutch kit with the steel dimpled plates as well, and fited it in no time, put some dex III in and its working awsome! apart from a small friction noise when you first pull in the clutch (hopfully because its new!) and hoping that might go away after a bit of use! found out that is the 87-89 CR250/500 clutch that fits
  2. I have a 2001 montesa 315r! so what year of cr250r clutch kit will fit it? Cheers
  3. Hi Guys, My engine went in my txt pro 280 02' and was wondering wheres the best place to look for a another one? 125 or 250 any ideas? Cheers, Colin
  4. I am using dexron atf (automatic transmission fluid) its pink in color and works well in gas gas trials bikes, ok so I might try a different oil tomorrow? Thanks so far for the help guys!

  7. yep silicone trick works!!!!! the collars are shot but i siliconed them anyway! works fine now no movment or sound , also i rung one of the bolts holding on the front disc, cant win them all! Good info all! Thanks guys!!!!!!
  8. Ok thanks a mil lads, I will take on board all your suggestions, and first thing I will do is put the silicone on the collars just incase they are worn out, and after that I might replace the collars if the silicone dont work! I will post up the outcome too! And i will post up a pic of the bike in a few days!!!
  9. Hi Guys, I have just bought my frist Montesa 315r! Just a quick question, as Im new to the 315r scene, and the frist thing that is driving me mad is the brakes, the front and back disks are floating, (movement in the disk) this feels awkward! for a novice like me! as the bit of play in both disks makes it hard to blance, gain better control of the bike ......etc, so can they be tightened up, like using a insert or washer, and if this is done will it cause damage to the disk like warping it? has anyone else come accross this problem? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thanks everyone
  10. Hi Guys, I am looking into buying a Montesa 315r (My frist Montesa!!!) and was wondering where to get the (black gas tank look) the bike im thinking of buying is red but looks a bit rough on the plastics so a make over is due, its eazy getting front and rear mudguards but not many items for the gas tank? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
  11. Ok thanks guys this info is very helpful to me, it seems that they can give a little bit of trouble too!
  12. Thanks a mil for that aswome reply! you sure know your stuff!, I am just after reliability, and looks like Beta or Montesa are in the lead! I had a Sherco but it felt like a toy, the breaks were crap, the suspension was awfull and the airfilter/airbox was no good if you ran in to a small puddle or over damp or wet ground, well better be walking home! I have a gas gas atm well I have 2 gassers and one of them is great and I like everything about it! but my other one well every single thing that could go wong on it does!!!! and the parts are costly!!! my mate has one too, so thats why I am looking for a change? I see you didnt say anything bad about Montesa bar the price, would be worth it if they didnt break down! ha!...... Alot of the guys I see here in Ireland tend to say that Betas are the preferred choice!!! Cheers Regards, Colin
  13. Ok thanks for you info, I have to look at reviews from the other makes to before I decide ! but ifs Honda plant thats great as I have had many Honda road bikes and never any problems with them! Cheers mate!
  14. Hi Guys, I am thinking of getting another trials bike and I was wanting to get a make/brand that dont give problems or minimal problems should I say! my current brand is causing me to have a love hate relationship!!!!! and I am becomming less rich too , they say that Montesa are super reliable and not much maintenance is required? are they Honda? is the four stroke better than the 2stroke??? Is this true? Can anybody tell me their views on Montesa???? Thanks all
  15. Hi Guys, I am thinking of getting another trials bike and everbody keeps telling me that Beta are very good and dont give problems, they say that they are super reliable and not much maintenance is required? Is this true? Can anybody tell me their views on Beta? Thanks all
  16. Hi Guys, I had a problem with clutch fulid leaking from the front sprocket shaft...... so after doing other work on the engine I decided to replace the seal (retain seal).... but I replaced this and its loose now and seems like some thing is missing??? I thought that once I replaced the retain seal that was the job done! nope there another part to it a shift seal bushing and 2 rubber o rings..... I put the old ones of these back again but they just fall down the gear shaft and dont seem to stay up beside the retain seal...... any ideas?? cheers
  17. Ok thanks lineaway, does anybody know whats the name of jim snells video on it, I looked up all his youtube videos and could'ntfind it? also does anybody know anything about the kick start baring.... see my pics below........ I tryed to remove it this morning but the whole carrier for it poped out! wonder is this a single unit? cheers guys
  18. Hi Guys, has anyone any experience in the txt gas gas kick start spring? I am in the process of putting my engine back togeather and now I can't get the kick start lever to return back in to the storage place, the spring has got loose now and its like mission impossible to try to wind up the spring and then put the kick start shaft in to it.... so I am thinking my next move is to buy a new one, wonder does it come tensioned?.... oh and does anybody know what the part code for the needle bearing that the kick start shaft sits into? Cheers Colin
  19. bike is 250cc, I am not really wanting to make the bike slower but rather make it better for grip! if that makes any sence
  20. Hi Guys, Just before I go to buy new chain and sprockets for my 03' gas gas I was just wondering whats the norm set up everybody is using? or does it vray drastically, I have a 10T/43T atm, so thinking of going down to a 9T on the front anyway! not sure about back sprocket yet........ basically I am after lower torque as I think this will be better of finding traction on steep hill climbs? Any ideas??? Cheers, Colin.
  21. Great replys guys I was wanting to have good bottom end power for steep hill climbs as recently I was out on a trial with mates and had a steep hill climb to do and my bike lost traction because it was wet ground but my mate saild past me on low rev up the steep wet hill, he said after that he had the fly wheel wait on which gave the bike better grip? is this right? I am not too worried about taming the power down as full power is a good thing and doesnt bother me at all, might look into the hack saw two bladed thing more! seems like a cool idea
  22. Hi Guys, Has anyone heard or used these new xpro ATC throttle tubes? ment to be great smoothness of the throttle....... as I was thinking of getting the flywheel weight for my gas gas so I could have more bottom end grip when on step climbs but this seems to be better than other mods to the bike? http://www.splatshop.co.uk/xpro-atc-throttle-tube.html
  23. nice pics Guys, ...........yeah I dont understand why the bike manufacturers dont just make something eazer to re-pack? ......... I think having a quiet bike is a good thing, that is just one of the many perks of trials, It must be a bummer tho if you have limited places available to ride....... glad I ant faced with that its kinda funny tho, where I ride on the mountains and cliff edges where I live, I always have respect for the area I am in, but I find that the worst offenders are "Hill walkers" leaving rubbish behind them! and if I do the same trial again a few days later I rarely see my tyre track! but I can always spot foot prints and rubish tho, ( not every hill walker falls under this category and its down to the individual themselfs) but its is kinda annoying when people automatically brand you as a vigilante on a motorcycle! (ha rant over!).... anyway thanks for posting up the exhaust replys fellow trials bikers, hope you have good weekend and get plenty of time in on the bikes ps my back garden! lol
