Very responsible approach, for which you must be applauded (as opposed to people stating incorrect ages).
If you are not riding for award, then you are not riding in a class, so how can you be riding out of class?
On a more general note, as I don't know how anyone on here rides, I understand that the ACU could be worried about young talent being 'burnt out' rather than nurtured, but maybe they are too conservative when considering applications to move up a class early.

I can't afford the time.
Why not take the cars.
Regarding the 'your family' comment, you are part of it, so it does include you.
-
Wish I could ride a bike as well as your family members.
-
CoMorph, he's yankin' your chain.
If you read it as "Why? Isn't Ben Morphett riding?"
NYL is jokingly saying that no one will have a chance in 'B' if Ben is there
Well, I found it funny anyway NYL.
And good luck Ben (and the rest of the field).

Another Morphett in the results.
Well done Emma.

Last pair of fork legs I got Nitride coated cost

I've just insured my 200 pro with ebikeinsurance.
-
Good call.
I think they are only supposed to be for about 120kg,but my Dave Cooper one has had a KTM450 on it. Carries my pro around easily.
-
Poor bloke. I wondered where they had gone.
I remember telling them two to stop pestering me a while back.

I know what you mean about the legal sized plates.
If I were you, I'd ride with a not too small one, say 7 x 5 flexi, and if you get stopped, you can point out that a proper perspex one would break, and then none of the registration could be read. Of course, a copper could still stop you from riding like this, so you may wish to have a 9x7 in your rucksack to screw on top if necessary.
As long as you don't take the p!ss and ride with one the size of a postage stamp stuck to the top of your rear mudguard, then most police will see sense.

Patience is a virtue, boys.......
CoMorph,
Is your avatar an RVF750R?
I've checked out the reg number, but I'm being told that it's a Skoda, yet it doesn't look like that in your picture.

No lights are required (not even a brake light) if the bike has a daylight only MOT, which it must have, otherwise lights would have to be added every year for the MOT. As it says, with this, you can ride during daylight hours only.
You do require a speedo (which has to work under Construction & Use Regulations) and a constant tone horn.
Rear number plate should be regulation size (9x7), and display the correct script, correctly spaced on two lines, unless the bikes was first registered prior to 2001, when the numbers and letters can be on three lines.
You can only ride on Byways and RUPPS, and these are usually fairly easy to ride on trail bikes, so will be very easy on trials irons. I'd go with Dabster's comment, and enter a two day event.

Don't discount 125's. They have a surprising amount of pulling power.
-
Not so sure on that count.
-
Surprising how many are in a similar situation.
I've come from other disciplines, but decided to have a go at trials this year.
First bike was a 2003 250PRO Gasser, which I used for the first two trials, which I enjoyed even though the conditions were not at at all favourable and I didn't finish either.
As I now know that I will be enjoying a few events this year, I have (this week) been persuaded to part with the 250 to someone else who wants to try, and so tomorrow I will be collecting an 06 200 Gasser (the capacity I wanted originally).
Regarding the land, I also have a couple of acres, and did receive a letter from the local council advising that if I wanted to conduct motorsport on my land, then I'd have to apply for planning permission, which probably wouldn't be granted. I told the council that I was using the bike to survey and inspect the land, and they advised that this was acceptable.
Whilst you're having a wobble around your field, join a club, and go and look at a few trials in your area. Look at the beginners and Novice routes. If you feel that you are competant to tackle some of the sections, then get yourself entered into a trial.
At the end of the day, I compete for fun. If it stops being fun, then I stop riding. Good luck.

You've got one good leg.
I don't know. A life time in the building industry....
....an excuse for every occassion.
-
Good call, but only just. I believe Ben Morphett was one mark behind.
Should be a good season.
Well done lads. (that had better be a coke)
-
I'm only going to make the rest look good
-
Cheers for that. Previous owner sorted that one.

I've been on the enduro and rally scene for a good few years, but the above will be my first trial.
What should I expect, and is there anything different that I won't be expecting?
-
I'm sure Ben Morphett do well in Youth 'B'. If he did win, would he be able to move up a class early again?
-
Hello Rabie.
Thanks for the nudge on the other site, I finally made it on here.
I heard that there was a trial at Sittingbourne on Sunday, so was going to go and have a look.
Went to have a look at one at Coombe Valley the other week. All looks about as I thought, though the ground conditions made it easier than it could have been.
So much easier than having to drive to Wales.

First posts on forums are always difficult, but here goes.....
Fat and over forty, I've been competing in enduros and rallies for quite a number of years, but have decided to take up trials riding. With this in mind, I've recently purchased an '03 Gas Gas 250 TXT PRO.
Quite a revelation, and so easy to ride (on my drive ), I wish I had done it years ago.
I'll be looking to enter a few local events in the new year, so any tips and pointers would be more than welcome.
I went and had a look at a couple of sections at an event in Dover a couple of weeks ago, and decided that it was do-able (though the ground conditions were good).
