Yeah 1997 techno, not a 1998, Suspension set up is really what you want it to be, keep in mind that bike has springs in it that are 19 years old so there is a good chance they are a little tired,. Every body has different ideas on what setup should be. Trials suspensions are intended to be soft in order to keep the tires tracking with the ground for maxium contact traction. If you hop on the bike and your weight takes up the suspension travel then you probably should give the rear spring a couple twists, just be aware that when turning up spring tension, it greatly effects dampening characteristics.
-
Ther are no aftermarket rear shocks for the rev bikes,Paioli were the only makers for that linkless setup, The rear shocks can be rebuilt however. You need the proper suspension guy tho
-
The best way to test dampning o. Your bike is to stand off to the side and hold the end of either handlbar side not to tight. Take a foot and press down the footpeg with a quick motoin and quickly take your foot off. When the bike suspension rebounds wath to see if the tires pull off the ground, if they do or one does you probably need a little rebound dampning. If no daylight under tire or tires you should be good to go

You are never to old to learn, the biggest thing is to forget any other motorcycle discipline as they do not transfer to trials, where as trials will help with every other riding style
-
Ride Both Machines and make your own conclusions on which is better for you!!! There is a bike for every rider, other people are not you.
-
If your turning up your shock and or forks to help getting over obstacles with unloading, or letting the bike unload without your imput then you need to take some lessons on basic trials riding otherwise your riding skills will never improve
-
Wheelies do not come from a springy suspension!!! Or I should say a Proper wheelie. Quit messing with the dampening. A proper wheelie comes from pushing the bike down thru its suspension stroke then pulling the bike back up thru with your back and arms. Fast or slow suspension does not matter. The same thing is done for a proper nose wheelie, you dont just grab the front brake and squeeze. One again opinions are like butts, everybody has one and they all stink, but trials is about soft suspensions with good dampening characteristics.

Is the fuel filler slightly offset to the leaft, and radiator filler placed where your leaft knee will smack it!!! 2009
-
Or it could be a crank bearing on its way out

No Scorpas are French ! Shercos are Spanish, Sherco just happens to Own Scorpa and provide power plants. Scorpa has never built their own engines. They started with Rotax, then went to leftover Yamaha Tyz Crapper engines, and now Sherco engines!!! But at least they can build a good frame obviously!! As Sherco said (hey why cant we do that)
-
Opinions are like butt holes, everybody has them and they all stink!!! Ride as many bikes as you can and pick the one that you feel most comfortable on, who cares what somebody else thinks they are not riding it You are!! Just make shure its not a mechanical mess
-
You will wish you kept the Beta 4t,
-
Because the Scorpas were making more power !!! With the tank in the proper place and the airbox under the rear fender, using the identical motors the Scorpas were out performing the mighty sherco's. So much for Shercos great ideas all to be found usless by a french bike Ha Ha Ha. Guess they decided the Scorpa was better now that they are using their frame . At least Sherco riders get a choice on color Orange or Blue

Its a huge learning curve, your going to feel like you just started riding, other than for its a trials bike, it does everything different from a 2 stroke machine. Have you tried a slow turn throttle tube on your Sherco???? Or possibly a flywheel weight to take some of the zip out of it. The Monty is a good bike but not necessarily the answer your looking for. They are not the most user friendly clubman bikes, Just my opinion as I have had three of them throught the years while waiting for my new bikes to arrive. And the myth that they get better traction than the other bikes is a hoax, Traction comes from proper position and throttle and clutch controll. Just my humble opinion, but I watch clubman level guys struggle terrible on the Montys
-
Make shure your not trying to use the headlight switch, thinking its the map switch, They do nothing on the 300 or any other size, kinda usless is my thoughts. I have a 2014 factory 300 riding expert and can hear or feel any difference in the performance of the bike
-
The Villian is the bike that is of difference, it has a fram more similar to a gas, gas, same motor but a non trellis frame
-
A hard front end crash will sometimes knock your forks out of allignment, or tweaked slightly, which means they are not stroking proper and that can put undue stress on the fork seals and cause them to weep. Look down over the front end of the bike you can usually see the miss allignment. Usually you can adjust by turning the handlebars quickly while smacking the edge of the wheel against a stationary object to realign. Or you could have damaged or scratched the fork slider.
-
What other people do is inconsequential to you. Its personal prefrence, some people use heavier weight oil, some use as light as possible, which greatly effects how the fork dampens. Also rider weight and handlbar position effect it. Best thing to do is balance the bike by loosly holding either grip pressing down the peg as quickly as you can and lifting your foot off immediatly. If you can see daylight under the tires chances are you need a tad of rebound dampning.
-
Cranking the rear spring preload up severly affects the shocks ability to dampen properly, trials is a sport of soft suspensions, the bike needs to work up and down with every bump and dip that is where your traction comes from. Also your legs are a huge part of the suspension function. The rev's were a unique bike as they are a linkless rear suspension, and depending on the year of your rev which were made from 2000 to 2008 your shock might be getting a tad tired. Most people will tell you the rear shocks are not rebuildable, but the are. A good suspension guy can freshen it up and make it all better.
-
If you dont like abrupt buy a 200.
-
No such thing as traction mode, its a handy thought but the best traction controll is you,
-
They Were loaners from my Sponsor while I was waiting for my Beta to get to me. I think they are a fun bike no doubt, but they are kinda heavy pigs and much harder to ride than other bikes, They do not under any circstances get better traction than the other bikes and they are not a bike that responds to quick action riding
-
My definition of quality describes a bike as a hole unit not just how its put together,
