  1. Here you go. Aluminum sleeve is to hold an aftermarket spark arrestor. Personally I don't think the graphics could have any more hideous
  2. For what it's worth, this is what the inside of a Coach silencer looks like. I had to open both sides in order to get it cleaned up. Upon first inspection after opening, none of the perforations were visible. What a PITA to clean up. Also of note, there are some sort of baffles in the interior of the perforated section. I'm hoping that the clean up and repacking will be worth the effort
  3. Thanks fourex. That confirms my suspicion. I still have the original beat up skid plate and the cracked engine cases that went with it, so I'm good with making up a spacer.

    Jumbo Skid Plate

About 20% into my Jumbo 350 project when I bought someone else's 85% finished project. I'll finish it first and then eventually get to the original one. Unfortunately I must have mistakenly deleted all my tear down photos and will probably be poking in occasionally with questions. I looked all over the web but can't find a pic of the skid plate rear mount. I got a new plate from Martin which would crash into the engine case unless there are spacers between the rear mount and the plate. I'm figuring about 12mm of space is needed. Is this right? Am I missing something? Any help w Thanks in advance

    Jumbo Seat

    Thanks Motom. That's what I needed1

    Jumbo Seat

Thanks for the link but I need to know what the attachment hardware looks like. I'd buy a new seat as well but from the description it doesn't look like it fits the Jumbo

    Jumbo Seat

I'm refurbishing a Jumbo 350 and could use a little assistance. The seat was a real mess, repaired poorly with fiberglass and attached to the body work with bits of scrap metal and rivets. I've torn it down to what's left of the original seat and have a plan for reconstructing the base and foam. I'd like to use original style attachment but have no idea what that was. I'd much appreciate it if someone with a Jumbo could shoot me some pics of the seat and side panel attachment configuration. Here's what I have now. Thanks Wayne
  8. I agree it's a coach. The tabs on the rear of the frame were for passenger pegs!
  9. This guy is good but he should probably be wearing a helmet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlVLb7OnheE (apologies if this is in the wrong forum)
  10. I really like the power delivery from my 300 and love the way my 240 handles. It stands to reason that a 340 would be pretty sweet at least for a lard ass like me. I've accumulated all the parts to build one and am thinking it will be next project (or after the next--just got a SWM TL350 Jumbo). I am curious though about the idea of cutting out the frame section below the flywheel vs. flattening it out for clearance. I like the idea of it but it's also a little scary to cut out a chunk. Glenn, if you decide to do the engine swap be sure to post some pics
  11. Just came across this http://www.fanticmotor.asso.fr/r10l.htm Rather than flatten the frame rail just below the flywheel. He removed the the entire bottom portion of the frame tube; both of them. It seems a pretty massive bash plate has been added to get the rigidity back. Good idea? Bad idea? I don't speak any French so the pictures had to tell me the story, looks like a nice build out...
  12. You're a little vague about your location but I'd guess it's somewhere around Fresno? In two weeks PITS is holding an event in Copperopolis. It would be worth a drive up there to check it out. Even if you're not interested in riding in competition, you'll get to see what it's all about. Plus Lewisport is located there and you can see what they they have to offer in new or used bikes. In answer to your question though, I'd think you could pick up a nice used bike for $2500-3500. You could certainly spend more if you have money to burn but you don't really need the latest and greatest. Be patient and keep checking craigslist, if you find something in the bay area I may be able to check it out for you. http://www.sactopits.org/
  13. Thanks for the replies. You guys are alright!
  14. These were mounted on Fantic 240's. Anyone know the make? Are they any good? Rebuildable? Any value or anchors? Thanks
  15. I think it's a reproduction as seen here http://www.r2wtrials.co.uk/html_files/fantic.mudguards.html
  16. Adopted some new kids and introduced them to the family
  17. Steve, I tried to PM you but your mailbox is full
  18. I just saw this ad on Craigslist. Any guesses as to the value here? Comments? Anyone interested in any of it in case I decide to take the 3hr drive to have a look? http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/mcy/4684019350.html
  19. OK, so I searched the forum and can't find this answer to my simple question i.e. how much oil for a Fantic 300 gearbox? My sight glass is pretty foggy and I'm not confident I'll actually see the oil. So far I've added 1.3 liters and the glass looks the same. Anyone?
  20. Thanks Scorpa. As it turns out, the cheapest solution is to have the shocks reworked so they can be mounted conventionally. That should do the trick
  21. I'm putting my 300 back together and got the engine in and a new chain installed. The chain rubs on the new Falcon shocks. The old Marzocchi shock showed wear on the body from the chain. I'm thinking the rear wheel spacers may be wrong. The right side spacer is about 10mm long and the left is about 33mm. My 240 spaces the wheel further to the left by about 7mm, I'm not sure if they should be the same. Does anyone have a 300 that they could measure the spacers on or otherwise have any input? I need to either move the wheel/hub slightly to the left or get different shocks. I don't know yet how well the chain lines up as I need to remove the chain guard to inspect. Any input would be appreciated Wayne
  22. Finally got my motor, rebuilt by the Tryals Shop with 303 barrel, new piston bearings etc . It's a lot easier to install a 300 motor than it is a 240. Exhaust hooked up, new chain. Just had to put the body work on to have a look. Almost there1
