  1. I started to buy a Reflex, but the TL125 came up in Austin, so that's what I went with. I noticed the Reflex in Houston is street legal, Texas license plate and lights. Could be a small dual-sport bike? Tell me about the Reflex? I can't find much about it on the 'net. Good bike? Aftermarket and parts availability is good? Any info on the web about it? I might just check out the Reflex. Larry

    Tl125 Vs Tl250?

What, other than the obvious engine size, differences are there between the TL125 and the TL250? I own a '75 TL125 that the previous owner competed in vintage trials with. I am not a competitor; I simply use it to learn new riding skills and easy trail riding. It is extremely low geared and easy to turn and balance. The suspension is very soft and spongy. I bought it simply because I got back into riding after a 20 year layoff and I always wanted a trials bike. I wanted a bike to ride with my sons. However, as I have learned more about Honda trials bikes, I REALLY like the looks of the TL250. I would like a little more power that the 250 could give me. Are there differences in the gearing, suspension and ergonomics between the 125 vs 250? I'm hearing that the TL125 is a better competition trials machine and the TL250 is more the trail-bike. So, should I add a TL250 to my stable?

    Tl 125

Here is a link to a webpage about TL125's, with descriptions and photos. At the bottom of each description is a small photo and where to buy the Clymer manual for the TL125. It is the number "M315" Clymer manual; that is what I use for my TL125. Honda Gallery
  4. Howdy, I just bought a Bell Tracker helmet that they market for ATVs and trials. It is a beautiful helmet and I got it for a very good price: $61.95. My only complaints are that it is a little heavy, and the shell they use for the medium is so large it looks like a spacehelmet on me. The styrofoam padding looks like it is about an inch thick! For ATV riding I think it would be great, but for trials type riding with all the moving around and turning, I am not quite that satisfied. I am considering a new helmet, and I have looked at the NZI polycarbonate. I have one issue about trials helmets that I would like to ask the group? Do the trials specific helmets allow you to lift your head to see forward? When I ride standing on the pegs, I am bent in a such a manner that I have to bend my neck backwards very far to see forward. My Bell helmet comes down so far in back that it restricts me from looking up very far at all. The NZI looks like it might be cut in back in such a way that head movement is not restricted. Is the Xpeed Capella any better at this? Is this a problem for anyone else? Could anyone shed a little light on this subject for me? Many thanks, Larry Stephens Grand Prairie, TX
  5. Thanks, all. I have been out of motorcycling for many years and things have changed very much. Since I bought my TL, I have been searching for all the information I can find on the trials scene. and Honda trials, in particular. I seem drawn to the older style trials bikes instead of the modern "boomerang" style. Also, as I get older, the vintage bikes seem more attractive to me. I don't know if I will ever compete in trials, but I love the look of trials bikes and they sure are fun to ride. I even look forward to buying another bike and then restoring my TL to pristine condition. I am slowly buying up pictures, magazines, brochures and parts concerning the TL. What I would really like to find is a copy of a book titled "Four Stroke Finale", but I know it is quite hard to find. Again, Thanks everyone for responding.
  6. Howdy, What is the history of Honda trials bikes? TL's, TLR's, RTL's, any others? What can you tell me about them? Years manufactured? Imported to US? Can you still find them? I just bought myself a '75 TL125 that I am loving, but I thought the TL was the only trials bikes Honda made. I am reading everything I can about the marque, but mostly what I see on the 'net is about the TL125. Can someone fill me in about this, or point me to a site with some info? Thanks
