Hopping... Man I remember when I Started I thought it might take as long as a couple
months to start hopping. I am an idiot lol trials is WAY harder then I thought.
Funny thing is though that makes me love it even more.
-
Got the Jitsie levers AJP style, like em a bunch. Jacks cycle shipped them out fast.
-
Nice link! Probably a dumb question but do I need AJP or Grimeca style levers for this bike?
-
I broke my clutch lever on my Ossa.
Do I need some special type of lever for it?
Anyone have a favorite lever they might recommend?
Tnx
-
I had no idea Gaerne made high heels.
She had some amazing skills for sure, not sure even
Danny Macaskill could do that.
-
I have it in both elbows right now, left one is from trials, right one is from the gym. Going on 5 months now on the left one.
@slickgolf I will try acupuncture I'd pay a good fee to rid myself of this pain.
One thing I've learned is that anti inflammatory drugs can help with the pain but they impede the healing process.
I've gotten cortisone shots in my shoulders and they did help but it's a last option in my opinion, it's not good for the body.
-
I had advanced cardiomyopathy and nearly died from it (now almost fully recovered) and still have pretty bad atrial fibrillation.
I had a hard time with trials at first because I was so inefficient at riding being a complete noob, I wore myself out fast.
I have a little bit of experience now and am able to slow down and not waste so much energy. It's gotten a LOT better for me.
If you can make it through the first bit, I think you will be fine as you get more efficient with time.
-
I have both astigmatism & nearsighted probs and I CAN wear contacts but normally wear glasses.
The lenses these days are pretty amazing and quite comfortable but for me it changes my "perspective" a bit
things seem a little closer than I am used to or something just is not right.
If you are going to wear them for a trials I'd suggest practicing with them as well because distances will look different, at least they do to me.
I have a hard enough time getting through a section as it is.
Something to think about...
-
Ended up doing that as well, I can confirm it had a better feel with the thinner fluid.
-
Funny to see someone else say this. I wear Gaerne oiled also and about broke my toes on a stump. They are comfortable though.
-
I was really impressed until I saw he was riding an Ossa... Anyone could ride an OSSA like that
-
thats_a_five your suggestion worked for me!
It's about 90% right now I gave the line some taps and will
let it sit again strapped tonight but it's definitely helped a lot.
I expect it to be good to go after another sit.
Rode it around my building tonight can't wait to get to spend some
time on it again.
-
Thanks guys I will give all of this a try and report back.
It's been warm here (rare) and I am about having seizures being unable to ride.
-
I recently put a new clutch in my factory 300 and it works fine but the lever is spongy as Hell and it feels like crap.
I've never had such a hard time bleeding something in my life.
It uses mineral oil, I first filled the lower cavity with mineral oil then attached
the line so there was no air below that.
Next I pulled the cap off of the reservoir and pushed mineral oil
with a syringe attached to the cracked bleed nipple until it was half full.
This method has always worked for me first go but not now for some reason.
I've tried several times now and the clutch lever feels spongy as Hell, not nearly as solid as it was or should be.
The clutch engages just fine and it "works" but it definitely feels like crap, nothing like it should.
I'm using a 3cc syringe and may try a 10cc so I don't have to refill at all but I saw no air enter (clear plastic line)
Am I missing some trick or something here? I can not think of anything I am doing wrong.
-
I don't think it is, when I think of such questions I always amplify it a bit and have a look.
500lb trials rider vs 75lb trials rider, who's going to have an easier go of it?
I am sure there is a sweet spot and of course talent has everything to do with it
but these bikes are not very accommodating for super heavy riders.
In any case all you can do is practice and make the best of your situation.
My NY resolution is to lose 35-40 lbs and I expect this to help me a bunch this season.
-
Probably a stupid question but how can I determine excessive plate wear, do I measure them with a micrometer? If so what are acceptable measurements?
To be honest, it went so fast I am expecting to find something wrong. If these clutches wear out THIS fast I'd expect to hear more chatter about it from others.
The clutch WAS a bit tight (no freeplay at all at MC) when I got the bike so perhaps the damage was done before I owned it.
-
I noticed my clutch slipping a bit in the higher gears a few weeks back.
I gave the lever more free play at the MC just to make sure it had some.
It seemed to get better for some time (it was hardly slipping before).
Today during practice I noticed it was slipping again, badly.
After some time today the bike was pretty much unable to be ridden.
I've not had a chance to tear it down yet but will soon.
Anyway I am guessing this bike has less than 40 or 50 hours on it
total time as it looked brand new (as in not a scratch on it anywhere)
when I got it.
I don't see how it's possible to have this clutch be gone so fast, is there
anything I should look for when I open it up?
-
Same bike, same issue. The dragging is not too bad to ride with for me.
My clutch **** the bed today during a practice session, the bike has less than 40 hours on it.
I had plenty of free play at MC but it's slipping badly.
Will pull it apart tomorrow and have a look.
-
I agree with this, if you have a noise issue can you possibly get an electric to practice on?
I am fortunate enough to be able to ride whenever I want and try hard to get a solid hour of riding in every day.
I also weight train fairly intensely 5 days a week and I can honestly say it's more of a hindrance than a help for trials IMO.
The one thing I have found that helps me the most to be a better rider... is riding.
-
Not even close guys Check this out
Personally I think it's good to see Danny M get all the publicity as it still brings attention to trials.
I'm kinda at a loss as to why motorcycle trials is not more popular, esp in the USA. But I am biased obviously.
-
Looks like she did quite well on her first go!
That smile says it all
-
LOL I expected to hear some of this.... It's OK I am ready for it
My goal for this meet is to finish with my scorecard.
I do however expect to move up this week from the lowest portion of the
novice class to the near lowest position of the novice class.
I'll be camping out there for the weekend, planning
on getting there early Sat Morning.
-
I never put them on my MX bikes and never had an issue, but both of my trials bikes feel like clown bikes without them and are very uncomfortable to ride.
That said I was also 15 years younger and in much better shape when I was riding motocross. Some of the injuries I got back then have come back to haunt me.
Maybe Geoff has arms like an ape
I get the purist thing with trials, but for me those 2" make my bikes feel much
more comfortable and easier to ride, especially for longer periods of time.
Also if someone were to make a 2" higher rise bar WO a center support bar it would not have
any effect on how close to the chest you could bring the bike in a nose up attitude.
As it is, I now have the risers but my handlebars do not have a crossbar, so those 2" should not hurt me
vs a standard bar with a cross support bar.

Very cool Gav,
I just started a new thread on that here;http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/52682-add-this-low-fuel-indicator-light-for-2013-ossa/
If you could please post your follow up there.
Much appreciated!

I see this in my user manual is this something I can plug into the existing harness on my 2013 OSSA Factory?
Anyone know if the sending unit is already in the fuel tank or not?
There is no way to know how much fuel is left (only gripe with the bike so far)
and it might be nice to have an indicator of sorts.
Anyone know for sure?
