  1. A) They are all good fun Unless it says - beginners / dead easy trial, none of them are too easy. Generally speaking every trial has a mixture of sections to test the lower and upper skills of that particular class. Can't always say how a particular trial will be graded - depends on the clerk / weather / venue.
  2. http://www.laragb.org/ Donate to thier fighting fund - as good as we can get............
  3. Yes they are - and ZIPPY puts it brilliantly, absolutely spot on. However, my point is - if we didn't make as much noise, maybe these eejits wouldn't notice us so much in the first place.
  4. How long is a piece of string? You can pretty much get what you want these days if your'e pockets are deep enough. There has to be a market for reputable frambuilders to make modern copies of classic frames in the latest lightweight tubing. Anyone fancy commisioning some Ossa MAR frames out of Reynolds 531? I reckon you could lose a LOT of weight there.
  5. Having ridden since the early 70's, its quite obvious that there is far less land available for us to indulge our chosen sport. As trials riders we generally tinker about on an old pit tip, a corner of a sympathetic farmers land or a disused quarry or the like and we have generally gotten away with it for years. There's no doubt that this small island of our is getting more crowded and the area's that we ride are mostly within earshot of someone somewhere. As in the title - which has been a saying around for years (I saw it recently in a 1982 copy of the motorcycle mechanics magazine) is it time we completely eradicated the noisy motorcycle exhaust? Im talking about bikes like the 4RT which has (in my opinion) a very antisocial exhaust note when revved - a sound which seems to carry over a long way. I hear four stroke enduro bikes in the woods miles away and the noise is grating (and Im a bike lover) No doubt poor old mrs biggins who lives next door to the quarry is pulling her hair out!! If we had very quiet bikes, would people be more tolerant and leave us alone? I think that they would - its the noise that winds people up. What are your thoughts?
  6. I spotted that as well - sounds like there's complaints about the continued land usage similar to Addingham, but Ive scoured the net and can't find anything. Be a shame its a cracking venue.
  7. I found some advice regarding painting plastic tanks on a French Fantic website - If you can make any sense of it.......might be enough info to research further? TANK The 240 petrol tank is in "thermo-plastic". This material can't generally be painted. A friend's got a solution for a very good result. 1)Sandpaper n
  8. This collection of websites should keep you occupied for a while both for information and parts. Pretty much everything you need for an OSSA. If you can
  9. The guys contact is copied below as he may be able to advise further though he's french and may not speak much english...... Cyrille He has a professional solution to repaint your old thermoplastic petrol tank : cyrille.zajacATneuf.fr

  12. Pieman Lots of difficulty painting (thermo)plastic tanks all associated with petrol leaching out through the walls of the tank and taking paint off. I have researced this for my Fantic 240 tank and there is a guy in france who has a solution I think using an epoxy resin to first seal it before painting in a RAL finish whatever that is. I don't have the details to hand but I'll have another look for it. There is also the possibility of searching for specialist plastic finishers who may be able to advise and a couple of mates have suggested that these people use a dye rather than a paint. As for blasting the cylinder head, just ensure that a specialist who knows his stuff does it rather than someone used to blastic garden furniture etc as some methods or wrong size grit will take off too much parent metal and 'pit' the surface. You are looking for the least aggressive procedure possible ie vapour.
  13. Nah - utter nonsense. Most of these guys will never be interested in converting to an engine, and even if they did, its not as easy converting to a motorbike as you think. Lots more variables to compute and if you haven't ridden before, its unlikely you'll master it all quick enough to be a world champ.
  14. Decisions, decisions - poor you! Just ride the damn things and if you must sell - just keep the one YOU like best - can't be difficult - no one here can make that decision for you as we all have different taste. The Majesty has to be the most sought after and better trials bike of the bunch. If I had one it would be staying as a heirloom. You could also keep em all and add an honda to round off the collection. Be an investment in a few years.
  15. Couldn't you think of a better username than that young Ade - what about Betaade - nah, perhaps thats too much like lucazade :-) Anyway, welcome - that bathrooms nearly finished so Ill be whupping you around the sections soon. Best wishes Yer GS mate.
  16. Hi Jamie - welcome back! Just a bit further north than you (in Notts) and also Fantic mounted. Club wise - have a look at Mansfield Maun, Sutton Falcons and any number of Clubs in the peak / Derbys area. Mark
  17. Great attitude - its not just about the result. Respect to him.
  18. +1. Brilliant!! - but hats off to all the other 'old timers' as well - top notch - well done all..............
  19. Jon Have a look at these people. Lots of advice on the website, but if I were you Id let the wheelbuilder dismantle it as there are some measurements (spoke lengths / offset etc) that they will need to rebuild it to original spec so it will sit in the frame properly when complete. http://www.central-wheel.co.uk/cwc/wheelbu...ing_details.htm Mark

    Exhaust Paint

Most paint won't last long on the exhaust of a competition bike. Try these people for a ceramic coating - used by lots of renovators. http://www.camcoat.u-net.com/

    Majesty 250

If you get stuck, ring John Shirt (Gas Gas importer) in Buxton, Derbys. He made them in the first place and should be able to help.
