180 photo's from Round2 at Bracken Rocks have been uploaded to Mansfield Maun websites album and can be viewed here courtesy of top TMX photographer Barry Robinson.
Any one who rode here should make sure they have a look as there will be some great shots of themselves in action. Speak to Barry if there are any you fancy - he has the high res versions suitable for printing.

Seconded - thanks to all for a great day.

Two different clubs both of whom have a right to hold a round but coincidentally use the same venue.
You obviously have a bee in your bonnet about it - speak to the ACU if you feel that strongly. Im sure they will give you the same answer.

You are just being argumentative, anti modernist and plain luddite. Such issues will always have to be regulated as material and production technology has overtaken most sports (especially motor sports, but generally ANY sport)
Just think of the good old trials tyre - don't you think that one of the manufacturers couldn't have produced a more efficient shape / design / construction if they hadn't been restricted?
Anyway, back to the thread - its about the Beta evo 4T - not a curmudgeonly rant about modern technology.
-
It still is - no less so for the mapping feature which is no different to other major improvements such as better designed suspension, lighter materials, tyre technology et al.....
I also own and ride 80's bikes (240 fantic / ossa MAR) and enjoy them for what they are. I just enjoy riding my duel stage mapped modern bike the mostest.
-
What, they controlled the propulsion of the bike using a small two position rocker switch situated under the tank?
-
The bike has duel stage mapping - a relaxed affair for mud etc and a second more immediate aggressive response - at the flick of a switch.
-
Right, with a little work with the old dremel (material shaved from the stay arms to reduce size and four new holes, the REV3 mudgaurd fits)
Doesn't look too shabby and will do until Beta come up with a better quality mudgaurd (which I'm told IS going to happen)
-
Its been done before mate - lots of times - follow the link below or do a search for dozens of similar threads.

The front mudgaurd is a piece of crap.
The replacement (

WD40 after the wash - but try 3in1 (made by WD40) before riding, as its thicker and provides extra protection for longer, and its just as clean.

Last call folks - opportunities like this don't come up too often.
There are places available due to some cancellations over the weekend - get some intensive training at a fantastic venue - all skill levels from beginner to advanced.

The owner probably paid circa

I fiqure that chaining it to the hydraulic bike lift will give me enough time to get down to the garage (when the alarm sounds) before they can release / remove it - thereby enabling me to indroduce them to 'the slugger' - which I normally and regularly use to play baseball with the children (21 and 25) and had hastily and spontaneously grabbed it to protect myself (with no malice aforethought your honour)

According to the chart think you mean 4.00? So answering my own question - in order of difference - least to most 11/44 10/41 10/42?

Can't see that there would be any problem there - its the 50 grade that important for the high temp - but don't see why you need to use a 10W grade oil in that part of the world. That grade is usually used in a colder clime where the oil needs to be thinner and flow better from cold start. Plus its a more expensive grade - you pay for the technology (men in white coats fiquring how to extend the performance range)
Not an expert - just the way I understand it.
-
Can't see it. The factory know that their bikes will be imported all over the world and if they felt that the machine required different specification oil dependant on the local temperature, surely they would have said in the manual or specified a catch all grade (ie 0W50 as a lot of cars do)
I would say that the oil specification given is to accomodate the demanding workload / temperature generated of a 4T competition bike and the type of lubrication circuit used in the engine.
There is a lot of information on the net with regard to oil specification - the OPIE oil site I posted earlier is a good start. Not only are they a good mail order source of oil, but they are motorsport orientated, supplying oil to many autoclubs / enthusiasts - and they will answer any oil based question you pose them.

Correct position for the fuel lever is all the way anti clockwise. (up and on auto)
When the bike has been on its side, turn the lever all the way clockwise (full on) to fill the carb - turn it back to auto when bike running. (this is for the 09 - sure its the same for the 08)
Manual states 15W50 full synthetic. I am using SILKOLENE Pro4 15W50 from OPIE oils -

Download a manual for your bike here.....

09 300 4T with 11/42 sprocket combination - and finding that I'm using first for everything as second feels a touch too long after my rev3 where second was my favourite gear.
As a gearing numpty, can someone tell me if a swap to a 10t front is the first / best option (rather than a different rear - whats the difference???)
I don't want to screw up the current usability of first - rather make second a more viable alternative (considering the power available)

I enjoy the immediacy of internet media but still love to pore through a magazine or newspaper. TMX has so much untapped potential and it needs an innovative makeover badly. More writing about bike maintenence / riding technique / technical articles - all the stuff we love to see - its not hard!
I also agree about the bike reviews - lets have some independent no nonsense critique, regardless of manufacturer / sponsor pressure.
-
Anyone stripped the lighting out yet? Doesn't look as straightforward a job as on the Rev3 2T.

Between sections and zooming across a perfectly 'flat' open field of grass some 12" high - hit an old fallen telegraph pole hidden by the grass which had grown around it.
Must have looked like a landmine had gone off under me as I flew through the air with the greatest of ease.
