  1. So, how do we think Dougie would do in a World Round today? I know he beat Dabill in the SSDT but the sections are nothing like a World Round. However, with no stop rules surely that would favour Dougie? Would love to see him ride World Rounds again.
  2. Well I remeasured the finger height and it's spot on. Normally I can be a little bit heavy handed when doing nuts and bolts up. I'm thinking I may have been a little too cautious when I replaced the plates and not tightened the retaining bolts up quite enough. Have re-tightened them all. Also checked the bearing, washer, replaced the clutch cover gasket and put it all back together. I'm hoping its now sorted but I don't have a trial until 22nd so I won't know until then.
  3. I've just replaced the clutch pack on my 2014 Racing as the lever was very stiff. Got a Surflex clutch pack with 5 steel plates and picked 2 that got the pack to 9.8mm. Put it all back together with new Putoline Light Gear Oil (as recommended by Factory Kev at GasGasUK) and now its lovely and light. However, it was slipping in 5th and 6th gear when I tried it today. What could cause that? There was possibly slightly too much oil in as it was about 2/3rds of the way up the sight glass rather than midway. Could that do it? I've made sure there's lots of slack at the lever. Any ideas before I pull it all apart again ?
  4. In 2014 I went from my 2004 280 Pro (had from new) to a new 2014 300 Pro. Soooo much easier to ride. The difference was quite considerable. Much more than you'd think.
  5. Thanks. They were closed when I searched yesterday and today but I'll check them out another day. Thanks.
  6. Old bearings out, new ones in and linkage all back on the bike. Very simple to do the bearings using the vice and sockets method. And the bearings supplied by GasGas UK are now sealed rather than a separate seal so hopefully they'll last a bit longer.
  7. Perfect. Thanks. Have ordered some stainless bolts.
  8. Pro bolt kits also say they're M6 and not M5.
  9. Looked at Pro Bolt website and couldn't find them. Will have to check again. Also, most online shops sell in packs of 100 only. There was a local nut and bolt shop but it's closed down now. Screwfix doesn't have any either. If anyone knows of a shop in North Kent I'd be grateful.
  10. I need a new bolt to replace one that has been rounded off on the clutch cover of my Gas Gas Pro. Searched all over and struggling to find any. Where is the best place to get them in the UK? The one I'm after is specifically an M5 x 40mm cap head allen bolt. Thanks.
  11. Well, after going back to it with fresh eyes this morning I realised the reason I couldn't get the suspension unit out of the way enough to remove the front dog bone bolts was because one of them was slightly pushed through and blocking the shock. Pushed it back and then I could lift the shock up out of the way and remove front bolts. No need to remove lower shock mounting bolt at all. Thanks all.
  12. Thanks all. Will let you know how I get on tomorrow.
  13. Thanks for the help. Tried the lower shock bolt but the head of the bolt is fouling the frame, just. This should be such an easy job but is turning into a nightmare.
  14. Guess I should have added it's a 2014 Racing with the purple Reiger shock.
  15. Ok, I may be being a bit thick but I'm in the middle of changing the dog bone bearings and I'm stuck! I've removed the rear wheel, the suspension top bolt and I've removed the bolts from the rear of the dog bone (as per instructions I've seen on other posts). I've undone the nuts on the front of the dog bone but I can't get the bolts out. When I push them through they hit the bottom of the suspension unit before they've gone all the way through. Therefore, I can't get them out and so I can't get the dog bones off. I've tried moving the suspension unit up and down and the swinging arm too but nothing will move the bottom of the suspension out of the way enough. Help!!! Thanks
  16. What are the symptoms of a worn out front seal?
  17. My post was in response to this part of the post above mine: "The throttles are very light on Keihin equipped Racing models possible due to the fancy throttle tube outer roller bearing they come with as standard." Of course the spring has nothing to do with jetting. That's ridiculous.
  18. Can you get a stronger spring for the Keihin? Or would the spring from a Dellorto work (as they seem to be stronger)?
  19. Great to see John Shirt has taken delivery of the first batch of the new 2017 GasGas. Let's hope things go better this time.
  20. Just tried to message you and it says you can't receive any new messages for some reason. Maybe you could message me with your email address so I can email you? Thanks Martin
  21. Cheers. What bike do you carry? I'll be using something like a 2014 GasGas (need car first then the bike). Will PM you.
  22. Could someone who has or had a Doblo car (with windows and rear seats) tell me how you get a bike in (straight or diagonal, seats folded or removed, bike forward or backwards) and how you strap the bike in (what do you fix it to)? Think one of these could be the answer to my transport puzzle (would really like a Doblo van but may need to take 2 kids to school in it occasionally) Many thanks.
  23. The riding position just felt wrong. Whereas jumping on a GasGas just feels right. Don't know whether it's steering head angle, footpeg position, handlebars or what but now and then over many years I've tried Betas and it's always the same. A friend of mine is the exact opposite. Always has Betas and has done for many years. A very good rider too. Tried a couple of Shercos recently and they felt very GasGas like. Comfortable riding position (for me). Bear in mind I'm 6' 2" so that may have an effect. I actually prefer a GasGas with a Dellorto carb too. Easier to ride (spring is slightly firmer) and always run right with never any adjustment needed. So a standard Pro for me rather than a Factory bike. There's so many things like this that means you have to try different bikes. They're all good but all have their little nuances.
  24. I cannot stress enough that you need to try all the bikes first. Especially Beta versus other makes. I'm a decent rider but I really can't get on with Betas. The GasGas on the other hand just suits me. All the bikes are as good as each other. It's all about what suits YOU.
