  1. 'Increased compression' relative to a previous model year doesn't necessarily equate to generally high compression. Some marginal increase from a previous motor that had 6:1 compression to 6.5:1 (for example)... it's still quite low. Don't let sales brochure marketing drivel confuse things.
  2. http://www.motoclub.bergamo.it/ There's another in Arco di Trento, although it's a bit of a haul from the top of Maggiore. I'm pretty sure there's something closer as well... Try to find Moto Club i Leoni, I think they're in Bregnano. Edit: found it... https://www.facebook.com/LeonidiBregnano/
  3. When I had a Beta some years ago I bought a surflex clutch to see if it was in any better shape than the stock clutch. The short answer is it wasn't... it needed the same cleanup.
  4. It wasn't drained all the way. The factory fills and runs them before shipping, and your dealer is probably required to run it as well. Drain it hot, lean it over to get it all out, and fill with 390mL. Jetting: 48 or 50 pilot, leave the rest alone. (the stock 45 works but it's on the lean side) Handlebars : set them vertical as viewed from the side, looking at the swept portion. That's your starting point. From there you can roll them forward, but generally only as you get good, unless you're freakishly tall.

    Bluetooth ECU

The GET ecu, which is what Vertigo is moving to, has been around for some time. And yes, it has an app that pairs with the ecu via bluetooth to allow control of anything that floats your boat.
  6. As for boots, if you like a very soft sole (that feels like a trainer) go for the Gaerne. The Tech T's have a harder, more supportive sole. That's the biggest difference. They're both good, it's just preference. As for helmets just buy a good one, after all it's your head: Airoh and Jitsie are both rather popular. All the good ones are very light, so pick whichever looks nicest to you.
  7. Unless you can feel or measure wear on the fingers, there probably really isn't any. The finish just wears off them quickly, but they're otherwise fine.

  9. I think most of that stuff was there on the 2017's as well, as I remember speculating about FI on the 2018's... which obviously didn't happen. But hey, there's always next year!
  10. Especially in these non points indoor events, it's all a show. They know it, and they do their best to give the crowd a good one. I don't think anything caught up to Toni in terms of his bravado doing him in, he was just putting on a show to the best of his ability and crashed. It happens.
  11. Techs are about as easy as it gets. Pull the forks, remove caps, dump oil, add oil, pump to remove air, measure air gap and add oil till level is correct. Reassemble.
  12. Like Dan said, don't make everyone start at section 1. No more problem.
  13. I should mention this is courtesy of a helmet can on Collomer's head, so the footage isn't the greatest.
  14. Yeah, because banning riders is a great way to encourage more participation...
  15. That Farrè knee injury I'm still fuzzy on. At first I thought he whacked his knee on the frame, but after watching it a few times I'm not sure if he actually just had it give out under the pressure of a big landing. Hopefully he's ok, he was riding well.
  16. It's the same useless button on every carb bike: it has almost zero noticeable impact. Don't worry, if you never find it, it won't matter. It just advances the ignition timing marginally at or above ~4k rpm.
  17. The Sherco has an oil inspection plug. The oil level should come up to the bottom of it. So fill it with 700, put the bike on level ground, open the inspection plug, and if you lose 300mL of oil you have your answer.
  18. More or less like this: http://www.jackscycles.com/files/GasGas_factory_manual_print.pdf
  19. FWIW, with the 4-way shock, your best bet is to not touch anything It's really easy to make it work like crap. This is why I tend to prefer the two way these days... less to mess up.
  20. I meant the former. Best to relax a bit and always assume people are generally good... even on the internet.
  21. I think reading anything two events into the season is a bit of a stretch. All competitors drop their worst event, so it isn't the end of the world. I'm hopeful Busto will go replay Montpellier a few times and see how he looked. Shame is a decent motivator...
  22. What motorsport company is in the business of helping families have a stable existence?
