  1. Are the valves on the Beta 4t's adjusted with shims?
  2. I'd imagine around $8k, which is what most new 250's go for (Beta, Sherco, etc)
  3. Your missing chocolate spread problem is easily fixed with Nutella
  4. Of all the trials bikes I've come across, the Beta is at least on par. And as you mentioned... che bella moto! PS: Parlerò con Luigi domattina sul il suo lavoro. Nel frattempo, continuiamo produrre le moto...
  5. How do you feel they're not made well?
  6. Asking 6500 which feels at least 500 high to me.
  7. Considering a used 2014 250 Racing. I know nothing about them, other than what I've gleaned from this forum. Sounds like the Racing edition a parts bin end of year upgrade sort of bike, which is fine by me. That aside, is there anything I should look out for with a used one? I haven't seen it in person yet, but it's described by the local (very reputable) dealer as like new.
  8. I don't get it... The TRS is (assuming a 250) $7900 (USD). The Beta 250 Factory is $8300 (USD) list. Even at those prices (I'd likely pay less for the Beta, probably not the TRS), $400 on an $8k bike doesn't really strike me as a concern one way or the other.

    Beta Evo 300

    Insert Internet sarcasm here...

    Beta Evo 300

Good: it's a beta Bad: it's a 300, you'll die FWIW, I think it's the most reliable bike in the trials field, outside of a Montesa perhaps. Certainly (again, with the exception of honda) it's the most stable manufacturer. The Beta's haven't changed substantially in years. The only real problem with mine in 120 hours were things I broke. And maybe the clutch, but that was mostly me again (poor adjustment).
  11. So I know this probably isn't what you want to hear but.... I live in MA too. And aside from the last few days, it's been typical New England cold around here. Those days we had that were into single digits, my truck didn't want to start, let alone my trials bike (which is presently non-existent, but you get the idea). I really wouldn't worry about it too much. I had a new KTM EXC-F a few years ago that wouldn't start when it was under 50F, let alone now. Wait till it warms up a bit and I suspect you'll (a) have no problems starting it and b. won't lose any fingers riding it.
  12. Out of idle curiosity, anyone know if Raga runs the same carb on his bike, or if he's using his own kit?
  13. Dear users of the internet... it's your lucky day! I've decided a quorum of people I've never met should pick my next bike, since I can't quite make up my mind (note: insert internet sarcasm here) What'll it be: a Factory EVO 250 or a TRS (displacement unknown)? Pros Beta: lots of bling, proven package, I've had one before and they go forever, pretty easy to work on, familiar and italiano! come io! TRS: new(!), no paint (it all gets rubbed off anyway, so why bother), looks even easier to work on in terms of access. Cons Beta - clutch issues (clutch fix) TRS - unproven
  14. Those meters are useless as tachometers. Don't worry about it.
  15. Gotcha, I thought that might be the case. Thanks!
  16. On my '13 Evo 300, the clutch pack was set up with reversible spring tophats that let you lighten the clutch pull. Can anyone confirm one way or the other if the 250 has the same setup?
  17. I have no idea about the UK, but in the US, all off-road motorcycles (bikes that can generally never be road registered) are sold with an MSO (manufacturers certificate of origin). It's roughly the equivalent of a title for a vehicle that would be road registered. It looks roughly like this: http://www.motorcycle-manufacturer-license.org/MCO-Sample-blank-front.jpeg Because they're never used in the registration process, people tend to lose MSO's, but I wouldn't buy a used bike from anyone that didn't have it. It's pretty much the only semi-guarantee I have that it wasn't stolen.
  18. I wouldn't really think one could over grease anything, unless you were forcing grease under pressure into a sealed housing. The head bearings definitely aren't that. Slather them with as much grease as you like... the problem is the over tightening, not the grease.
  19. I'd get another 50 hours out of that tire (seriously)
  20. What does very notchy mean? Sticking? Overtightened the lock nut perhaps. You really don't need to tighten it down at all. Snug it up then another quarter turn.

    Vertigo

People only suspect that? As a relative trials newcomer with lots of experience on other types of bikes, it seems obvious. Trials is 10 percent the bike, if that. Having said that, I'm all for a new bike!
  22. New England. Not really worried about parts, I just got the impression (perhaps incorrectly) that the keihin in generally preferred, and it just happens to be what I'm familiar with.
  23. Apparently the first ones coming to my area of the US are already sold, so some folks are willing to chance it. From what I can see in pics and whatnot it looks well engineered. Is it as solid as a Beta? That's where I'm plunking down my money if I don't take a chance with the trs. There's a lot I like the look of though, although the delorto is a mystery to me. Anyone ridden a 250 yet?
