IDMCC don't run the SSDT. Edinburgh & District do that!
-
Given you're in Kinloss, it kinda shortens the possibilities somewhat! I have no objections. Most of the Scottish Clubs have representatives that post on these forums. I'd be interested to see their response.
Edit: Club as suspected based on your location. Topic moved to UK Trials talk.

Because we provide FREE Classified Ads on the front page of Trials Central.

I have contacted Martin both to pass on my sympathies and to seek permission to run a front page article marking Fred's achievements. In these difficult situations I don't like to be assume things and always seek permission from the family first.

This section of the forums has been set up to allow users POSITIVE interaction with the ACU and to collect that interaction in one place so it is easy to find and so that posts do not get buried amongst other topics in the UK Trials Talk forum (plus it makes it easier for Dicko to find stuff for his editorial)
ACU-bashing will not be permitted. If you have nothing constructive to say then say nothing at all. Criticism of things you may feel are wrong is fine, but it must be constructive criticism with appropriate suggestions as to how things could be changed/improved. Both John Collins and Mick Wren of the ACU Trials and Enduro Committee read and post on these forums. Neither have to, but both make the effort. They're not the big bad wolves you may think and do a helluva lot (though the jury is still out on the vampire theory!)
This has been created at the suggestion of forum users. Please use it responsibly and avoid posting after a few

Got your email on this. He's been a member since 2004. To avoid confusion you'll need to change yours. I'll be in touch.

Erm...bear in mind we have a lot of American readers and "fag" means something totally different to them!

I do work for Symantec, but that is purely because they acquired the company I did work for (Veritas). I deal with data availability solutions, not the security side of things. If the truth be told, I don't even run Norton myself and never would as I find it an incredible hog on computer resources.

3 posts deleted from this topic for using text talk. Zat is Verboten! Any more and it is off to ze Russian Front!

Been there, done that, got ignored!

An online fundraiser has been started in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance who took Richard to hospital. A very worthy cause.

I also have evidence from a few years back of Laia Sanz saying to watch out for Bou.
He's young, he now has the backing of the most professional team in Trials (no discredit to other teams, but in all honesty they can't compete with the mighty Honda corporation). He'd have be a fool to turn down the opportunity.
Interesting that Honda/Montesa have signed Bou over Raga. Given that they could afford either, is it investing for the future or realisation that if it wasn't for Fuji's injury this year then Raga's title could easily have gone another way?
It does say one thing quite clearly - they don't consider Adam Raga as a domineering force over the next two years.

Thanks - and it was actually airport thinking as there's sod all else to do in these places. When you work for a US corporate you not only have to learn all the buzz phrases, but you gotta learn to act on one of them and "think out of the box". I do believe some "thinking out of the box" is needed. My suggestion was just one. I'm sure there are others.
PS. Idea copyright me. It may not be used in any trials publication without my permission

Here's a little thought I had...
As has been seen recently, be it rumour or not, it would appear that long-standing practice grounds are in danger of disappearing due to noise complaints from local residents. With the posts on here about Addingham Moorside being closed, not being closed, maybe being closed would it not be a far better approach to get the sport's governing body involved rather than shout "petition" and do things as an individual?
What if the ACU were to take a more proactive approach towards protecting those grounds for all to use, thus protecting the interests of ALL riders?
Firstly they'd have far more credibility than an individual trying to fight the establishment alone and secondly, I believe with a proper plan put in place and the correct communication they could alleviate a lot of the concerns of complainants.
It would probably involve taking on a whole new mindset and thinking "How can we work with these people to ensure our members can continue to enjoy the venues they have done for years?" It may involve communicating with complainants and suggesting the planting of trees or hedging to muffle/eradicate noise. If that was funded by the ACU (which I'm sure none of you would complain about if it ensured continued use of your practice venues) then hey - all of a sudden they're green! Trees and hedging are cheap and easy. The tree-huggers are happy as a motorsport organisation is giving back, the complainant is happy as the noise is reduced/eradicated and the riders are happy as they can still ride and their organising body has fixed it for little cost and it benefits everybody.

I saw this video a few months ago and knew at the time I didn't recognise the name, but he's got you lot talking about it.
Bull**** or not, the vid has had over 2500 views and he's done a bit to promote the sport. It might be complete bollox, but unless you've produced similar or better, can you really criticize?

What's this doing in the "Pre-65 bikes" forum? Topic moved

I'm still awaiting results, but know Sandra will do what she can to get them through. If what you've said is right then good on Shaun - he was riding very well today from what I saw and good on Dibs too.
-
I have absolutely no problem with setting this up. I'd take little part myself as I don't ride, am not a member of a club and would have little to input. I've stated the various scenarios I could put in place previously. That would take 5 minutes with appropriate moderators put in place to ensure the content remains valid and of positive debate.
BTW, it may be some time before Mick replies. We established today in Kinlochleven the ACU lads are vampires and all the hanging upside down affects him

I don't know if it's totally dead. Certainly at the Scarborough Youth two-day recently the Scottish contingent got together, cracked open a few beers and had a blast. The fact that we then went on to make complete tw@ts of ourselves in the beer tent is irrelevant!

You won't see mention of Trials Central in TMX because (despite them getting extensive publicity on here), as you correctly point out, I am considered competition.
As for the photo thing, Eric, Jake, Dicko and myself tend to hang out at events in roughly the same places to get the best shots. You may have seen similar photos to ones I've taken, but you certainly won't have seen any of mine.
This has been true with the World events this year. How long that will last I don't know. It's a lot of work and uses all of my holiday allowance from my real-life job. It's been a blast and I've really enjoyed the experience, but I don't know if I could do it forever - especially the two long-haul ones. They were a weeks holiday apiece which meant I didn't have enough left to attend the full SSDT. Given the choice, I'd rather go to the Scottish.
What you also have to take into account is it's not just me that makes this site. It's all the Clubs who submit news and results. Gordon Imrie has the North-East Centre sewn up and does a great job. If every Centre had a guy like him then you'd get everything.
I've seen the article in question and will respond on the front page, when I've had time to fully digest and formulate an appropriate response. In the meantime, I've a Brit round to cover this weekend.

Err - last year, hence my photos!
-
The event is held within the famous Spa Francorchamp racing circuit - home of the Belgian Grand Prix. Whilst the circuit itself makes for an interesting and unique venue with some cracking backdrops for photos, the sections are mostly man-made and, IMO, not that great.
My photos from last year are here
You'll be able to get video from this event next weekend on Trials Central. I do believe Mr. Kinell is making the journey and will be handling video. However, most of it will be Supporters-only.
